“Who are we?”
“Huh? What do you mean?”
“I mean, who are we to other people, what are we? To me I'm just another person, going about life trying to get by, but to others it’s like I’m not supposed to exist. To others I’m nothing like them, I’m not even human to them. So how do others see us? What would cause them to act so cruelly?”
“I don’t know. People are weird. Heck people do the same to others who are different, different from them, from us. It doesn’t matter how you’re different, it’s just if you are.”
“Hehe very true. But that still doesn’t explain their cruelty.”
“Perhaps it’s because they don’t understand us. They can’t imagine what it would be like to be like us, so they see it as it can’t happen, that it’s not supposed to happen.”
“Hmmm… That could be so but… I don’t know. I guess I just want to be viewed as everyone else, not like some defect.”
“Well the only thing you can do there is to show people that you are just another person, the rest is up to them. There are others that already see us no different from everyone else, and others that could. There will always be those who will never accept you, but there is nothing you can do there, people are entitled to their opinions.”
“I know, it’s just when people violently express their opinions that scares me... aggravates me. And it’s because of those people so many are afraid to be themselves because they fear for their safety, and even at times for their life. They become ashamed of who they are. They grow to hate themselves. Arghh! It just makes me so angry.”
"Hehe don’t worry I know how you feel and maybe someday people will look back and see the way people treated people like us and others, and wonder; how was that allowed to happen? Why didn't anyone stop it? But until that day we live on, we try to make the world see that we are no different from them and hope they come to see that. Now c’mon you can buy me another ice cream, sea-salt as always.”
“Hehe fine. Why do you like that flavor so much anyways? You always get it.”
“Because it’s different.”
