Tails of the Crew'd: "It doesn't really matter what you say.
"...I just love the sound of your voice" thought Stern, a rare and contented expression on the old rat's weathered face as he stirred the stew and took singular comfort in the pidgin monologue and rejuvenating presence of his beloved lizard, Zarn.
Illustrated here is a calm scene from an ongoing story of mine and
Readasaur's, featuring an unlikely pair of comrades. A member of a lizard island tribe called the Fire Eyes, Zarn became part of a band of merchant-adventurers called the Crew'd and through happenstance formed a very strong connection with the otherwise surly and intimidating cook, Stern - known only to him as "Uncle," who in turn knows Zarn by the Fire Eyes term of endearment "caro."
Kamechuu drew and colored this one so fantastically well that I can hardly contain my glee. Thank you!

The contrast between the mellow, in-the-presence-of-Zarn Stern and the grumpy, get-the-hell-out-of-my-kitchen Stern is so fun that I think I'll have the latter drawn some time, and find a way to juxtapose the two. It's really like night & day.
