As the story draws to a close, Dr. Sorenson discovers the cause of Brock's sudden relapse, and the news is not good. Brock snaps and lashes out against her, blaming Emelia for everything that has transpired. As his life crumbles around him, and having alienated his one remaining friend, he sinks deeper and deeper into depression.
Note: The events in this story have no basis in my own personal experiences and in no way reflect my own state of mind, so there is no need to worry about me, the author. Brock is simply a character in a story.
***WARNING 1*** this story contains baby-furs and age regression, but is very tastefully done. Diapers are involved, but not dwelt upon, as they are ultimately incidental to the story as a whole.
***WARNING 2*** this story is not a particularly happy one, and takes Brock to some very dark places. It deals with issues of specism (i.e. racism), depression, suicide, and violence. Little Furs will find themselves in hazardous situations, and some of the events which take place may be shocking to some readers.
Thank you for sharing this journey with me! -Brock

And yes, the story does take a turn for the better, in the second story. Tunnel Rats tells how Brock came to be as he is, and Two Badgers tells the story of how he learns to cope with his disabilities and live life again. Considering that the story takes place some 10 years in the past, and he's still alive, that indicates he doesn't stay down forever.
Thank you so much for reading this. It's been a labor of, well, labor. LOL A lot of blood, sweat, and tears have gone into writing this and the next story (which is still in progress) and it's nice for it to be read by those who appreciate it. It's gone from what was intended to be a 10-page backstory into a full fledged novella and beyond.
Sláinte!
I love it! I love darker stories, where people don't necessarily always get what they want, or a good ending. Oftentimes they feel more real and relate-able - not because I've had a crappy life, far from it, but just...I don't know. Any kind of happy-ending story seems to read more like a fairy tale to me now, and while I certainly still ENJOY happy ending stories (and sometimes prefer them), tragedies hit on a deeper level, I guess.
I don't really take more pleasure in reading them, that's the wrong description, but...I guess they hit a wider array of emotions, and perhaps that's more personally satisfying?
Anyway, I look forward to trucking through the next series. I think I started it awhile back but only made it a couple chapters through...hopefully going to get through them all today.
My goal in writing this was to make people FEEL something, anything. And while "Tunnel Rats" is basically pure tragedy, "Two Badgers" is definitely lighter in tone, but because of the events set up here, it is all the more powerful because of what Brock's been through before.
Thank you for reading and enjoying my work.
And it's not just Brock, it's all of them...Emelia, Az, the other four...even though they did have some family, for the most part they were spending their lives trying to make the world a better place and it seemed like no one cared when they paid for it. That's always the stuff that makes me saddest.
But it was a really good story, I liked it a lot. I liked the military vibe mixed with the regression.
I guess I'm just not used to sad stories. I wrote about 15 AB stories a while ago and I made a few of them sad...I always remember people told me they never liked the sad endings. So I've gotten used to always creating happy endings. It's boring and predictable but it makes me feel better and I enjoy writing more that way.
But I enjoyed it Brocky Brock! I'll have to read the other one at some point.
