I had this idea for some bracelets yesterday. And today, here they are! God I love rapid fabrication.
Leather bracelets with a scale pattern cut through them, based on the pattern of scales that I make with chainmail. They're just a simple pattern cut through the leather, but when you bend them around your wrist the tips of the scales project out from the surface of the bracelet, giving it a cool texture.
They're cut with a computer-controlled laser cutter (which does the intricate detail cuts really quickly and precisely), then hand-dyed and finished with a leather sealer. They've got a simple snap closure.
I'd like to make these to sell, but I haven't yet decided on the exact pattern. I really like the one with the big scales when it's formed to shape like it is here, but that takes a bit of time so would have to increase the price a bit.
You guys should let me know what you think: Which version do you like most? Do you think $20 would be a reasonable price for the flat ones? Is it worth making the one with the big scales if shaping the leather would have to increase the price?
Also, a random thought: a friend of mine, on first seeing the one on the left, immediately wanted a version of it sized as a dog collar (for her dog). Thoughts?

I'm not really sure yet. In all of the designs, the edges are the only continuous strip, so that bears most of the stress for the bracelet as a whole. A fairly hard pull doesn't seem to damage it, so that's something. I will probably end up making the connection between the scales and the edge thicker, though, to give it more lateral strength.

And it looks like The Ring Lord restocked the scales yesterday, so I'll just order from them. Thank you, though.
