Not at all furry, oh well.
So while I was working at the laser shop someone requested some speaker cabinets designed. (Normally we avoided accepting design work like this, but my boss got excited and said yes and then started working on it then dropped the ball and SHENANIGANS!) So, months later, here's the final prototypes that I just cut.
These are 1/2 the size the real ones will be. They're cut in 1/8" birch plywood. The speaker is just over 7" tall, the subwoofer is 4.5".
I'm not really sure what to think of the design of these, IP-wise. I drafted it from scratch, but what the client had wanted was a close copy of some speakers designed by some dude who apparently wasn't interested in making more to sell, or providing the plans. Basically, this was what I was given: http://www.flickr.com/photos/372033.....7603742724350/
Once I get the final ones built for this guy, I'm probably going to build a copy for myself, though I may decide to somewhat heavily modify the design to be definitely my own. And make it more exciting. The design I was copying was nice and sleek and modern, but I might want something more extreme for my own desktop.

take a look at the speakers online you want to put into the boxes. There's specs for the cubic footage of space inside that the speakers need to work in an open box or closed cabinet for an ideal sound.
I used to design and build custom speaker boxes 15 yrs ago.
open box is like the right one where there's an open port - gives a better sound for a steady frequency.
closed box is like the one on the left where the air is in a vacuum. - gives a better sound for the 'punch' of a beat.
