As mentioned, I want to give everyone some tidbits here and there while I'm hard at work on the revamped new comic. I was surprised at how much fun I was working on this. I knew I really wanted to set out on getting a feel for some of the changes I've wanted to make to our favorite Charmeleon, but once I started I realized I wanted to make a full and complete picture out of it.
So, eagle-eyed fans will probably note some of the changes on their own, but I'll go ahead and list the main ones:
-Totally redesigned eyes
-Altered eye ridges
-Slightly thicker, less spindly limbs
-More cartoonish tail flame
-More contrast in the shading
I'm also putting MUCH more work into my backgrounds as you can probably see.
Now, then. If you would like a small teaser about how much different this new comic is going to be, take a good, close look at the words that are notoriously MISSING from this picture that are in all of my other submissions related to these characters! You might be very surprised.

D'aww... Thank you! I've been discussing backgrounds a LOT with the co-creator of Victory Fire (sulfurbunny.deviantart.com is where the comic is), and they got me to really see that backgrounds need to be much more substantial than I've been making them. That they are a character in and of themselves. I'm doing my best to adhere to this and not take shortcuts with my backgrounds anymore. Thank you again! *Snugglehugs!*
