"Airborn" (a word play on airbourne of course), is the last backcover I did for Gremlin Trouble using my traditional method of colour pencils. It's a bitch of a lot of work, though at its best the result can be gorgeous. Cypher is still turned into a gremlin in this illustration, but has gotten into the air by tinkering together a sort of flying skateboard. It's part F15, part U.S.S Enterprise and probably entirely unstable. But a little Gremlin technical finesse and anything is possible. The clouds in background are modelled after the famous Japanese woodblock print "The Great Wave" by Hokusai, "Airborn" appeared on the back of issue six.
