*BOOM* Shaklaka! (G)
Got a nasty awakening the night before, one bad-assed thunderstorm rolled into South Texas, laying waste with high winds, lots of rain and lightening, lots of it.
And some of it hit my house, and nearly killing me in the process.
(Well, I maybe exaggerating a bit there, but it did bite me.)
But I am not exaggerating when I mentioned that it caused major damage to my electronics, most of which were 95% disconnected, save for a few, and I thought, "safe" connections.
Boy was I wrong.
Damage report so far:
One inkjet, print server for same, DirecTV receiver, one cable modem, HP Gigabit switch + a 5 port switch, Creative Labs 7.1 audio system (volume was fading on me, so the finals were on their way out, so this bolt pretty much put it out of my misery), my primary desktop tower is down as well. So far on it the power supply is diagnosed as bad, and a replacement is on its way. I hope that is all that happened to it, but I feel it may not be. It was unplugged from the power, but all the other items were connected to it. So I've my reservations that this may be the tip of the iceberg for my bread n butter.
I got insurance that will cover it, but it will still sting since I'm in between jobs ATM, plus the audio system does not have a receipt or any kind of price can be placed on it...
Replaced the cable model yesterday, it was a leased unit, so a road trip to the local TWC office was made to snag another one.
I fear the bodycount has just started on this disaster.
Gods have mercy on this poor bastard...
