Meet Marissa, Shamara's former girlfriend back when shi had just arrived on Earth and was wandering around Europe and ended up in an illegal fight ring.

Marissa is a Belgian draft mare, hence her strong physique, and a skilled MMA fighter (Mixed Martial Arts) and police officer.
She was working undercover as a contestant in the fight ring by the time Shamara joined it.
Aside from illegal gambling, the people that ran the fight ring also had ties with H1 (Humans first) and some of the morph contestants could end up being blackmailed and kept under contract to fight in sometimes fixed matches and providing sexual favors as part of the prize or punishment for losing a match.

Marissa had managed to get into the organisation by pretending to be the girfriend of another under cover cop, a human male named Benoit, and they were well on their way to cracking the case wide open. However when the people in charge tried to press Shamara into a corner, after shi had lost a couple of fights against Marissa, and have hir provide sexual services as well, which resulted in hir violently objecting and leaving they had to move in way sooner and arresting who they could, including Shamara.

After the police managed to shut down the fight ring entirely, Marissa and Shamara met again by coincidence, and having no place to stay Marissa took hir in for a while and they had a short lived relationship during that time. Eventually Shamara decided to move on and try hir chances in America where shi soon met Rosco hir wolftaur boyfriend while Marissa had found a boyfriend of her own who would evantually become her mate around the time that Shamara met Shiva in Australia.
