Mune's Last Round: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9695715/
This is the final page! Whoever wins this wins it all! Sorry about the exposition dump! I had to set everything up in a short amount of time for the big final page(s)! This way there are less words in the finale! It's worth it probably!
But I am sorry about all that. S'what happens when you try to shove 10 gallons of impromptu back story into a 5 gallon hat. Really it could be a 5 gallon anything, but a hat is certainly not built to handle that kind of overflow.
Refresher for those of you who might be new or forgot how this works over the last few weeks: Vote for your favorite competitor in the comment section below. I will tally them and whoever has the most wins this page. Whoever wins two pages wins the tournament! The loser will be too, but only in spirit. And body fat.
You can purchase additional votes at $1 a vote. PM for further details if you are interested. Purchased votes are no longer redeemable for commission options.
Voting ends Monday at 10:00 PM EST.
Vote Tally:
Mune - 477 (82 + 395 Purchased)
Muirne -500+ (99 + ENOUGH TO WIN)
Sorry guys, this has gotten ridiculous and a lot of people are taking things WAY TOO PERSONALLY. For the good of everybody the ending amount will not be made public. Don't blame me. STOP MAKING THINGS LIKE THIS PERSONAL AND PEOPLE WON'T HAVE TO TREAT YOU LIKE CHILDREN.
It's over and Muirne wins! Thanks to everybody for participating and shame on those of you that tried their best to take the fun out of this final night by making things petty and personal. For the rest of you it's been fun and I hope you enjoy the big finale tomorrow!

You are correct. As you can tell from the description for this page (which I can't blame you for not wanting to read after all that) I wasn't happy with the large blocks of text either. Normally when I'm writing a project I'm careful to plan my pacing, plotting, and set-ups so as to avoid things of this nature. With the -VST-, however, I was more or less winging things, which meant that when the plot began to develop a bit I had a lot of things to catch up on. Let this be a further lesson for you, to always plan ahead. Or in the very least pursue simpler plots for comics less than 20 pages in length.
As far as exposition goes, the word dump on this page was not very elegant, no. It is always preferable to show rather than tell, as you say.
But the idea that Stank would try to include an elaborate plot--or really any plot at all--into this project, is a testament to his chops as an artist and he deserves kudos for it! He was under no obligation to give this casual fetish-fuel comic series any sort of story, but did it anyway starting from the very first panel of the first page. And no surprise. If you look through his gallery he has a long track record of this sort of thing: he plays around with common tropes and subverts them, always exploring the boundaries of the medium in which he works and carving out his own unique (and bizarre) style as he does so. Much of his art includes subtle gags and layers of meaning that aren't even obvious at first glance; it is one of my favorite things about his stuff. That and of course the way he draws bulges. :3

Muirne as fuck! GO MUIRNE GO!
Seriously, After the bullshit the last two panels, everyone whiteknighting mune about "Omg how unfair, look, a hundred extra votes! Why bother even voting!" only to have Mune supporters buy what...three hudred or so unneeded votes? I'm surprised anyone is pulling the 'mune deserves to win' card, Muirne deserves to win -purely- because of all the hate Rafe suffered after that first round, only to have the exact same issue tripled and pulled on him.
That much aside, I just do not like Mune, haven't enjoyed his previous battles, never really found myself siding with him, and this battle just increases that, I had no idea what was going on with him, now he just comes across even more as an unpleasant god-modder (In-character, I know fuck all about the guy behind it, he might be lovely). That and I just plain dislike the vaguely japanime storyline "My psyche is shattered, so I'm taking yours!" feels like something that ought to be in Yu-Gi-Oh, not fetish stuff.
Also, to throw my suggestion in, as much as I hate to agree with the little tosser Mewtwo, he had a vaguely good idea. If/when you do this again. Instead of violating privacy and publishing -every- name that buys votes, make it expressly clear at the beginning you'll be publicizing the campaigners. Say, anyone who buys more than 3/4's the number of votes will have their name made public, and how much they spent. (So if FuzzyFoxA has 100 comment votes, anyone who spends $75 or more buying votes for him will be named). State this includes obvious attempts to skirt the rule (Buying 74 votes, for example, 'just' skirting below the public-viewing number is obviously trying to trip the system). That means the people trying to buy the contest, by simply outbuying any number of available comments, will be named and shamed, and will allow people to make their own judgements if someone is just attacking one particular character, or behaving unfairly etc, but will also allow people to spend potentially substantial amounts of money on votes to support friends and characters without having to deal with bitch-fest fallouts. To use the same example, spending $60 on votes is -not- a small amount, spending $75 or more is overkill, and clearly trying to just make your opinion more valid than others with money, which isn't really something that deserves the right of privacy, if you're going to give a big "fuck you" to anyone who put their vote in, then said people should be able to see who you are. (Tweak it however I guess, doesn't have to be 3/4, could be 2/3 or even half, or less, I just picked an arbitrary fraction)

Wow... just... wow. It's a fun contest for Stank to make money on. :P
You may be taking it just a wee bit too seriously.
And, as Stank has mentioned numerous times, he is portraying the characters how he sees fit, in fitting with the storyline of his comic. Even IC'ly, Mune is nothing at all like that. You are making assumptions, without reading earlier comments by the comics creator in his admittance that the characters are not following their canon parameters.
Also, name calling, I do not know Mewtwo, but, I am sure he does not appreciate being called a tosser, so lets remain civil, polite, and courteous to each other please. Stank has enough drama on his plate.

Not seriously at all. I was just commenting on all the fuss people made in the first page after Muirne had a hundred too many votes bought for her. Then the silence from the same people when Mune had close to three hundred too many bought for them the next time round. Sorry if you feel my comment was to vehement , it wasn't meant to be.
I know Stank has, it's entirely my opinion, I can't get into, or support, Mune, because all I can see is a god-modder, Stanks interpretation of your character and from what he knows, great as it may be, just comes across as god-modding to me. I never said that's what it -is-, just that's what I see, and why even if muirne wasn't a friend, I'd vote for her over him, I dislike stuff that seems unnecessarily convoluted and complex for what it is. Canon parameters or not, I'm voting on this particular comic, and in this particular comic, Mune appears to me as an unpleasant god-moddy style character.
As for Mewtwo, having endured his self-righteous bullshit for quite awhile, and on my own material, inadequate as it may be, no less, I have an exceedingly low opinion of the creature. It's not causing drama, he's already blocked me with the 90 or so others from the last round (so I don't even know if he can view my comments), and I don't intend to indulge his little power complexes if he even attempted to respond anyway. Some people hate one another, and we're entitled to our opinions without having to conceal them for fear of rocking the boat.
I'm a little drunk, so the above might be a bit more venomous than I normally am. In short, like I said in the original comment. I have nothing against you personally, or even your character, in this particular instance I struggled to understand Mune's background and story, and after the expo in this page, don't see anything beyond godmoddy (the 'spontaneously burn your tits' bit for example?), and generally unpleasant character, I don't particularly like the motives/powers/etc etc etc, so even if I weren't supporting Muirne because she's awesome, I'd support her for liking the character over Mune. Elsewhere? it might be different. Stank's interpretation of both characters here and now? that's my opinion. Same for Mewtwo, I dislike drama, and will never aim to create or continue it, to the point I'll simply leave if it reaches 'drama' levels, but I'll not hold back honest opinion by any margin.
Good luck in the contest hun'! I'm fighting against you, but good luck nonetheless! , I am, as ever, excited to see the outcome.

Mune, I really do appreciate your defense, despite it being a bit unwarranted.
If anyone has taken this contest a bit too seriously, it's me. I'm the one who's changing his roleplay preferences due to things happening in this tournament - no longer offering myself as prey to any mouse creature, should Muirne end up winning the finale, but relenting on that (and removing the blocklist) should you end up being victorious as I would no longer feel guilty of being prey to one at that point, as things would be "even" (as in Roco got eaten but the one who ate him got eaten.)
Soline can call me a tosser or whatever else all she likes. (And yes, people the are blocked/block others can still see comments elsewhere on the site. I know there are sites out there that hide comments from someone you blocked, but have never heard of one where someone being blocked hides all of your comments from them. Though maybe FA will add the dA system eventually, where if you block someone, you can't reply to any of their comments/stuff either...having said that, I would really like a system where someone you blocked can't fave your stuff, to deal with certain individuals who are not part of the VST-related drama at all but have separate drama issues with me, and I them. But I digress...)
I do wonder just what the finals would be like if I had not held to my word, and passed $50-75 through an intermediary who would have sniped for Roco at the last second. Or if the "10:02 bid" had instead been on time, if that rumor was indeed correct. Would there be this much shit going on if that had been the case? Less, with Mune's supporters not having a reason to hate, or more, because I would have gotten involved to such a degree, especially if it were to come out during the finals at some point?
In future events like this, I do hope all the payvotes end up being public - if only because I want to see consequences for actions, both positive and negative. If I am seeking to commission an artist in the future, I'm going to pass by those who put in money to support someone or something I'm against, but at the same time would be much more apt to jump on a slot from someone who supported those I wanted to help. At the same time, I understand that artists have equal power in that scenario and could choose to raise prices or blackball someone completely from commissioning them if they put up a significant sum for someone or something they were against - or on the flip side of that, give a discount to someone they perceive as an ally if the artist and commissioner both put in payvotes for the same goal. (I'd also like to be able to extend that same idea to time in the Anthrocon Dealer's Den, and the den of any other cons I might go to.) On the same token, the fact that the payvotes -aren't- public is the reason that I went on the scorched earth tactic with the blocklist. I can only assume anyone that payvoted left a natural vote as well, so making sure I don't end up commissioning someone on the natural vote list is the only way I'm going to make sure I don't commission someone that payvoted. I respect that's how the rules were set from the beginning though it does mean more people ended up getting caught in that crossfire than needed to be.
So...to be fair, yeah, I've taken this more seriously than possibly anyone who's actually had a character of theirs in the tournament itself and I fully expect to be hated by a number of people. Though I appreciate your concern nonetheless.

That is a good idea, and certainly one I would pursue if I were doing something like this in the future. I would honestly be more inclined to just make all purchased votes public. The only reason I'm not doing so this time is because I didn't say I would when the tournament started, so that kind of transparency wouldn't be fair.
As for all the other stuff, I think it would be a good idea to calm down a bit. This is the last vote page, after all, so there's nothing to really gain from all this frustration at this point anyway. I understand you don't like Mune for various reasons, that's fine, but there's no need to defame him. I know you probably weren't looking to be mean here, but this none-the-less read as rather mean spirited.
You'd also be interested to know that a lot of that storyline you didn't like came straight from me. If you found it to be contrived and unappealing than that's also fine, I assure you nothing you say will ever upset me (and I'm likely aware of all these faults ahead of time due to my overly-critical nature), but none of that was actually Mune's idea. I took elements of Bug's storyline, incorporated them with my own, and adapted them to some of Mune's attributes.

Could do, but then, as the spiteful little monkey just above you explained beautifully, complete publicity would perhaps result in less money for you, people not buying where they might have for fear of the whiplash from people like him. But its your call, I think it's a good thing you didn't change the rules halfway through at any rate, as you say, it would be unfair otherwise.
Fair enough, I wasn't trying to defame him (Mewtwo however...), just explaining why I dislike the character. I'm a writer, it's second nature to explain things for me, and I prefer reasons, hence a very long comment detailing why my vote isn't just because I'm Muirne's friend. It wasn't ever intended to defame or insult Mune, or upset you.
Yeah, I got that from Mune's comment earlier. 'Contrived' feels like a needlessly mean word to use, (despite apparently its meaning being pretty close to what I meant ), it's a very good background, and I enjoy the story. Like I said, author at heart, I love reading and love it when pictures have a bit of a story and background to them, and that you came up with it personally just makes it all the better and further justifies you being paid for doing this. It's more simply that Mune's storyline is...eh, I don't know the word, it's kind of a combination of contrived, overly complicated etc, without actually being any of those things. It's a believable storyline, and it's not enormously complicated either, but at the same time it just...feels like the wrong kind of thing to be in this sort of thing, to me. Aha! while typing I think I worked it out, it's because the storyline has Mune with ulterior motives, the others joined the competition to eat and win, Mune joined the competition specifically to steal peoples souls/psyches, he's not really even concerned with winning if he gets Muirne's soul (This is all just how I'm interpreting based on that expo), it's an unfair advantage in the "I don't need to win, I just need you to lose" way. Again, there's nothing inherently wrong with that, and it's a good storyline! It just doesn't sit well with me and my preferences in this sort of thing, it's nothing against your talents as an artist and creator, or Mune as a person.

Umm... it never said anywhere that hte character as only in this for souls. :P
As Stank just explained, the character's storyline, after Bug, has become a mix of Bug's storyline, thus the seemingly multiple personality thing going on now. In the cut away scene, you may notice that Mune is in that weird mind space with them, which, to me, as a writer and artist myself; tells me he is not the one in control in this current page at all, or the previous two pages of this particular round. So by reasonable deduction, the story itself has deepened and become far more intricate a web that is quickly coming to its climax. :)
I am very interested to see just where Stank is taking this storyline, with my character's mind basically sidelined and Bug's... mysterious alternate personality in the driver's seat. I thought it was quite funny having Mune and Bug talking in that mind space and someone else seemingly in the driver's seat of Mune's body. *Shrugs* It was the first thing I noted upon reading this page, and was quite intrigued by it.
It also tells me, that there is a plan in place if Muirne wins, for whatever dark personality that is, to take residence in Muirne instead. We'll have to wait and see just where Stank is taking this. Lets see where this wild ride goes! :D

I'm just glad you understand and are enjoying yourself. You are, more or less, one of only two people I am looking to expressly entertain at this point. The rest of my audience is along for the ride (after all, an artist is mad to try to please every audience member individually, or at least he would be soon if he made an attempt). I do have plans in place for the conclusion, for both sides, and I hope they will be equally satisfactory. We'll find out soon enough... Until then I thank you for being so accommodating with your character and allowing me the freedom to incorporate him in a working universe and story-line with the rest of his fellow contestants in the way I best saw fit.
Heh, sort of funny how things turned around now. Everyone fussed how Mune got more normal votes but few payed ones, now he's got few normal and more payed. Really people? And congrats to Stank you lucky SOB, got bit over 200 in cold hard cash just for this one go, that will...buy one whole tank of gas XD
'It's only bad if the other side does it.'
I think I saw before someone trying to break down how matches would have actually been if pay-votes weren't included. In all actuality, it's not possible to decide a 'true' winner that way, because without the payvotes the normal votes would likely also have been different: Voters would likely put more push on getting their friends to vote.
Anyway, the voting from the beginning included pay votes. That's a part of this contest. The only 'rightful winner' is well. . . the one who wins.

Oh yeah I know I know, it just got so annoying with some people pitching fits about Murine winning all the time with bought voes but now that Mune is in the lead with them you don't see anyone raising hell about it XD This is why I don't like being in these open vote things, I got screwed over in one pretty bad because one guy got butthurt and the owner stabbed me in the back..but oh well. Honestly I'd personally like to do my own work and let a few judges compare it to who I'm faceing, put my work to a test and see what I need to work on ya know?...Granted I get screwed alot with those as well...huh..
Indeed. I'm sure the odds are high its a close friend of yours shelling out that much cash but...good lord, feels like its takeing things a bit too far if ya ask me >_> I mean....fuck! If they are willing to shell that much money out, they could have got a pic from Max the BlackRabbit in full color and everything..and he charges alot for his great work.
I....suspect it's less about seeing Mune win at this point, and more about making Muirne lose. Same outcome, different mentalities .
Though, all things considered it's not a 'terrible' cause, many better things (seriously, I could -so- use a better laptop, one not mostly made of stone ), but the money -is- keeping Stank fed through his unemployment so it's not 'completely' down the drain, could think of it as keeping him around, no money means no internet, after all.

Hahaah, that's a -very- good question!
...on both sides actually! Mewtwo and Dicewolf both claim to have put nothing down for you, and me and Rafe have put nothing in either (I'm poor, he's -very- poor...oh the life of the english!) we have no idea where the money is coming from...it's not even from any of the open offers that we know of!
Meh, I just hope Stank sees fit to do some extra stuff as thanks for all the money, it's stupid drama, and hassle, but for 300 bucks, I'm sure he'll draw an extra page or somesuch..or, I hope he does

Well as I told him, its more grumpy at the character and the people tossing out money. Its honestly in bad taste seeing as first they were bitching that Muirne was getting wins only by pay votes but now that she's greatly behind thanks to someone throwing their money around none of them are saying anything. This is why open poll votes are bad, give crazy fans any power like this and drama is going to blow up fast.
And it's serious bullcrap. I don't care how many people hate me for saying this, but people are idiots for trying to get Mune to win. I don't have anything against him personally, of course, but I just hate it when the popular person wins over the underdog. It sickens me. It's the same with republicans or the Patriots or the Yankees. Helping the rich get richer, or helping the people who win just win some more. It's pathetic. When you have a chance like this to help an underdog or someone who doesn't get that much attention win, you need to take it. The fact that no one is doing that is just sad. Makes me shake my head in disgust.
Popular person?
Seriously? :P
I am an unknown generally in the vore community. A have some friends in the regular furry community, and that is it.
The popufur would be, well, Muirne's player, lol.
A lot of the votes were from my bros getting their friends in on it, cause I barely know anyone interested in this contest.
And... calling people idiots for voting for me? That is an attack on them, and on me; and you should perhaps take a step back and realize just how overly dramatic and offensive your comment was. As for person with the least attention winning... I get basically no attention. You may have noticed... Muirne got the popular vote, which means, she has more support from a person perspective.
Lastly.... grow up. It is a silly vore comic meant to be fun. You are behaving like a child who's candy was taken away...

Oh, enough out of you. I can say whatever I want and support whoever I want. I'm no different than Lucas having a personal vendetta against everyone who doesn't like Mewtwos or Soline lashing out at everyone, too. If you're telling me to grow up, maybe you should tell every single person who has an opinion to grow up. At least Muirne and her owner are likeable. You aren't. So go away, please.
No worries, you are being a good sport about everything. I just seem to have a lot of haters now; and did not appreciate Josh's blatant attacks in truth.
not happy to have haters now either mind you considering the comic is the exact polar opposite of my personality to being with :P lol

I don't really think the hate is twords you parsay, more twords the character and the people dumping loads of cash. Even I'll admit he's...a bit over powred but hey thats just me. As for the cash...holy mother of god people have taken this WAY too far. I mean first they were bitching that everyone was tossing money to Muirne to win and now you've got I think the most out of every round in less than a day...and really people aren't getting anything out of it like before as Stank cut off commissions as he got too meany to do...that and he's fucking rich now XD Honestly this is why open vote things have ALWAYS been a bad idea, put a bunch of crazed fans in one place and give them the power to deside an outcome and shit will happen every time. Heh, I mean fuck if I had entred (wouldn't seeing as I'm not one for vore and/or death) I know I wouldn't have got votes into the double digits XD
Yep, thats my thing. Fuck powers and all that, going hand to hand and beating the shit out of eachother is the way to go...and alot of fun to watch hehe...granted I did get cheated in a contest sort of like this a few months ago, mines the pay votes...or the high number of votes.
Well you know how some people can be. I can tell some are voteing for the underdog, some voteing because she has big boobs...but alot of the votes on both sides...seems more like a grudge match now between the voters and not the two of you compeating anymore. To me, the pay votes should have been something on the side while the vote votes would count more considering we got people shelling out over 100 in cash just to see you win.
I'm suprised - and happy, actually - to hear you say that.
Sadly, I'm guessing that's not going to happen.
The thing is, Muirne is rather protective of her character; the whole reason I showed any opposition to Muirne in the first place, after Roco's loss, was that I approached Muirne about getting an alternate ending or reversal pic from after she ate Roco, and was refused, even though I was offering to pay for it. The only reason I wanted to see Muirne go out is to feel a kind of closure about Roco getting nommed on, like things were "even". (How you can be "pred only" yet enter a tournament like this is beyond me.)

And Mune wins pretty much by a landslide. Congrats to him and Stank for makeing a ton of cash. As for people that tossed so much money in to make one side win over the other...think you need to step back from stuff like this for a bit...or like Mune said, give him the money if you like him so much XD Really, this was suposed to be fun for THEM, not crazy money tossing voters...jeez :/
Wow...even if there are lingering votes...there's already $672 thrown at this last page.
That's...like...half of most people's entire Iron Artists. Or three pieces from Nek0gami.
Just...damn. Mune, even with me out of the picture...you've got a damn good number of people wanting to save ya.

Eh, look at the votes, even removing all the money dropped, Muirne would still have won. In fact on the last page I think someone did a breakdown of the votes/paid and it turns out in all bar one page, Muirne would have won just on the votes alone.
It sucks it got so bought in the end, but I'm happy Muirne won, she would have anyway, just sucks so much got shelled out to ensure the same result

Wow...I honestly did not see that one coming o_o But yeah, Stank has a point people...but I will say this for ya Stank, you kept this as fair as it could be (more than I can say for other contests like this) and while vore isn't my thing...the comics were a pretty good read even for me. So, my hats off to you and the two in the finals as I have quit the bet of respect for you guys with how mature you acted with this while others were...not so much...but hey look on the bright side, you got enough to buy a WiiU, a few games, and you'll still have a good chunk left over. Hell you could make the first few payments on a new car so you made out pretty well on this =3 Honestly don't think I've ever seen that much money flow into stuff like this so it has to be a FA record.
Well still, even counting the money votes it was pretty close all around and you did make it all the way to the finals. Atleast you got to see it though to the end. Last contest I was in I got stabbed in the back just as the finals started and booted out getting an auto loss so you got one up over me.
Muirne wins. I don't think I need to describe my delight. More so that she won in votes as well, which is somewhat more pleasing to me.
Hard luck Mune, I'm glad at least I spoke to you enough to know you're a decent person, my opinions on your character aside, you seem lovely.
Congrats Stank, we all know who the winner here is . I hope the money keeps you for awhile, unemployment sucks, I have another friend not quite as popular as you to be able to semi-fund themselves like this, and as much as you need the money, I -do- have to voice the opinion that it sucks so much was spent on this for so comparatively little. You're an awesome artist, but hopefully modest enough to agree with me that you're not $800-for-a-B/W-comic-page-incredible, I'm sorry, I adore your art and style, but I don't think -anyone- is that impressive. Which brings me to a greater point, don't let the shameful behaviour of people over this page affect the final page please? I'm aware I probably contributed, but still, like you said earlier, you're only aim is to please Mune and Muirne (well...now mostly just Muirne I think?) not the people who paid or voted, you give the impression in the description of being quite unhappy with people's behaviour, I'm sure you won't, but please try not to let any anger over the insane quantity of votes bought come into your work?
thanks for the contest either way, it's been very interesting to witness.

Poor Mune, was hopping he would win ;v;
But on a serious note, I do understand why this final page wont be made public, leading up to the due date, a lot of furs out there were submitting journals "Support Murine! She needs your votes!" or "Mune needs votes! Come here now and vote Mune now!" Sure a lot of furs will be both happy and angry at the outcome and even more so that they will not be able to see how this whole thing ends, but as you said, its for the best, all this will lead up too is more drama, and the last thing this site needs is more drama xp
But either way, nice work and looking forward to seeing more works from you in the future c:

*Pops the champagne* Well, my work here is done :P Dunno who dropped the moneybomb, nor do I care. I didn't expect this outcome but it made my day for sure.
Rafe, congrats man, you totally deserve it :3 Muirne is a great pred and perfectly fits the tournament.
Mune, I expected you to win, you look like a nice guy and certainly, I won't be doing stuff like no longer accepting fox preds (well, that'd cut half my pred friends and Rafe himself as well, so... XD)
And to everyone who voted, Mune or Muirne, y'all get a hug from this sleepycat ^^
