I'm using one of my own original decks to go up against a Structure Deck. Lazy? Maybe.
Originally, enemy deck was going to focus on Masked Chopper, but I decided to go with this one instead.
ENJOY it.
Part 5 Brotherhood
Trina and her new furry friend had finally arrived in the Secret Village of the Spellcasters “hidden” within the Forest area of Duel World. Although anyone could find it if they just followed the happy voices of children and murmurs of the crowds that flocked to every tree shaped house. Honestly, Trina would have still been looking for it if it hadn’t been for Taro. Although Taro didn’t mind leading her there at all. The black cat fur and her friend (that happened to be a dog) walked confidently down the stone walkway. Although, Trina had no clue where to start looking for Arthur.
The village itself wasn’t really a village, but rather a long line of booths that provided guests with fantastic gifts, delicious snacks, challenging carnival games and puzzles of all levels. Although the village started out with just Duel Puzzles, children and adults alike can happily run around from booth to booth to see what they can experience next.
“He could be at any of these booths.”
“So which one was Arthur again,” Taro asked Trina, while trying to keep at her heals.
“The smart one,” Trina paused at that statement, “well, academically anyway.”
“You’re going to have to be a little more specific then that.”
“Well, he’s like a little brother to me. He’s really sweet, but not someone that you’d want to anger,” Trina said as she looked from booth to booth.
“Well that’s nice to hear, but I meant what he looks like.”
“Looks like,” Trina was having trouble answering that question, “Last time I saw him he had a grey sweatshirt, a baseball cap over his orange hair, green scales…”
“Orange hair and green scales,” Taro tried to imagine what Arthur looked like, but kept imagining a leprechaun with a skin condition, “I’ve never heard of a lizard fur quite like that.”
“That’s because Arthur isn’t a lizard,” Trina turn her head for a moment, “he’s a dragon fur.”
“Whoa! A dragon. You have a dragon for a friend,” Taro leaped in front of the cat, “as in fire-breathing, treasure stealing, ferocious and extremely proud Dragon!”
“Arthur’s not that kind of dragon,” Trina thought to herself, “he’s anything but ferocious.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, fact is, Arthur’s probably the only dragon in the world that wouldn’t stand out in a crowd.”
“I AM THE DUEL PUZZLE KING,” came a Roar at a puzzle booth, followed by spreading his wings and releasing a tall fire pillar. The crowd backed away from the green dragon far enough for him to be seen by these two.
“Then that’s probably not him.”
“Actually…,” Trina frowned to herself.
“It’s him isn’t it,” Taro asked sarcastically as Trina nodded in embarrassment, “well tell him to stop with the fireworks. The entire village is made of wood.”
Unbeknownst to the three of them, one other person witnessed Arthur’s display of power. ‘An old classic. Burning down the whole village would be fun’, he thought. Then again he might get caught in the cross fire if he did that and miss out on all the suffering that a fire would bring. He had no clue who Arthur was until he caught the dragon’s scent. He knew that Arthur had looked familiar… but what was he doing here?
After Arthur cooled off a bit, he decided to move on. Arthur doesn’t normally use his firepower. He was just on a roll. Thirty-five puzzles solved in a row was no easy feat for him and he was really letting it get to his head. It’s been a really long time since he has had a chance to really relax like this. He’s never felt so alive and he wanted to see how many more he could crack.
“Okay, whatcha got for me,” Arthur slapped down on the counter of the next booth.
“Well,” the vender dressed as Key Mace thought about it, “our specialties are the Naturia Cherry Poppers, delicious Doom Donuts and Token Sundae Surprise.”
“Well I guess I’ll go for the Token Sundae Surprise,” Arthur laughed, “it sounds like a good one.”
The little fairy vender quickly turned around to work on something that Arthur wasn’t paying any mind to. That is until he pulled out a surprise for the dragon. On the counter was not a tap screen like he had seen at the past five booths. Instead was a glass filled to the brim with little colorful scoops that were decorated like the Scapegoat Tokens, whip cream, and a cherry on top.
“What is this?”
“Token Sundae Surprise.”
“This isn’t a puzzle.”
“That’s because this is a snack bar,” Key Mace smiled, pointing to the menu board.
“Oh…,” Arthur blushed a little, “In that case, I’ll also take some Spicy Cherry Inmatos and a Mokécola.”
“Right away sir,” Key Mace nodded and got to work. Arthur scanned his card to pay for his order, then turned to get to work on the sundae.
“Nice fireworks hotshot,” Trina popped in on Arthur’s side while Taro hopped up to the stool on the other side.
“Trina!… you saw that?”
“Everyone in Duel World saw that,” Trina said jokingly, “You nearly burned the whole village down.”
“Oh, sorry…,” Arthur folded his wings in.
“What’s up Arthur? You’re usually more reserved than that.”
“I can’t help it. Finding solutions makes me happy,” Arthur removed a spoonful from the sundae.
“I don’t think that’s healthy,” Taro tilted his head. Arthur stopped before he could get even a bite.
“Oh right,” Arthur sighed as he put his spoon back down. He had forgotten how dangerous icecream could be for his species. The sugary desert could easily damage a dragon’s throat, especially before or after they used their fire so soon. The cream would dry quickly, clog it up and choke them to death. Sure, it wouldn’t happen often, but Arthur was a very cautious dragon, “Who are you?”
“Shiba Warrior Taro, I’m Trina’s new friend,” Taro said happily, “are you going to eat that?”
He slid the sundae over to Taro. Taro happily accepted it despite he didn’t have thumbs. Key Mace returned with Arthur’s drink and spicy candy.
“Can I have a Moképop too and a Hungry Hungry Burger with no mustard,” Trina ordered.
“So did you find any good ninja cards?”
“Don’t remind me,” Trina shuttered at the memory, “I got only two new cards, but I’m pretty sure that I’m going to burn the other one.”
“Is it that bad of a card?”
“The duelist tried to hit on her,” Taro growled as he tried to pick up the spoon between his paws, but it bounced off of the sundae and landed on the wooden ground.
“Oh snap,” Arthur tried to hold back knowingly, “how many stitches did you give him.”
“I held back, so maybe forty.”
“Hey, these are gummies,” Taro announced after finally giving up on using a spoon to eat the Sundae.
“That’s why we call it a surprise,” Key Mace returned with Trina’s order. Trina poked at the toothy burger for a second.
“Kind of scary isn’t it,” Key Mace shrugged to himself, “that’s why it’s not one of our more popular orders.”
“It is almost like it could bite you back,” Trina was almost afraid to touch it.
“Not if you bite it first, love,” a red-scaled claw stole the burger from behind Trina. The claw belonged to a second dragon morph, but he wasn’t like Arthur. His scales were much more armored . If you could call all those spikes armor. His crimson scales were complimented by yellow and black protrusions that prevented the dragon from being able to wear even a custom shirt. It was a wonder that he was even able to wear his shorts. His tail seemed to have a battle axe connected to it’s end, but no one was noticing it at the moment. He lifted the burger and bit over half of it out with his almost sabertoothed jaws. His eyes were equally red and cruelly shaped.
“Hey that was mine,” Trina snapped. The others backed away from her.
“You snooze you looze, kitty cat,” the dragon spat as he ate, “needs more relish.”
“That cost me 500 DP,” Trina was ready to fight, even after letting the kitty comment go. She’d taken on bigger furs than this guy.
“Come on Trina,” Arthur tugged on Trina’s shoulder, “he’s not worth it.”
“He’s right,” Taro nodded, licking a gummy that was stuck in his teeth, “Trust me, you don’t want to get into a real fight while you’re in Duel World.”
“Fine,” Trina released her fists, “let’s go.”
“Oh, but do stay,” the dragon chuckled to himself, “I really want us to catch up.”
“What are you talking about,” Trina didn’t so much as flicker her tail in his direction, “I’ve never met you before.”
“I’m sure you haven’t,” the dragon finished of what was left of the burger as he sat down, “but I was talking about Merlin there.”
The pair of furs stood shocked at the mentioning of the name. Taro looked up at them confused, “Okay, I know he’s not talking about me. Who’s Merlin?”
“He’s talking about me,” Arthur pushed himself between Trina and the dragon, “but I don’t go by that name anymore. How do you know it?”
“Oh don’t you recognize your big brother, Chester?”
“Chester,” Arthur pushed Trina back with his right wing, “how the hell did you get out?”
“I was released for good behavior,” Chester shrugged to himself.
“I doubt it,” Arthur growled spreading his wings wide subconsciously whipping his tail.
“Watch where you’re flapping that thing,” Trina shouted before Arthur turned around.
“Trina,” Arthur didn’t seem to be listening to the older fur, “get away as fast as you can and call the cops. Now.”
“Why? Who is he?”
“He’s-”
“Why I’m Merlin’s big brother,” Chester interrupted, “and he’s right. You really should call the police. After all the crimes that I committed today. Stealing an overpriced burger, visiting a dear family member and having a nice fun day in Duel World.”
“Yeah right! His idea of a fun day is anything but nice,” Arthur explained, “Chester’s a criminal and psychotic.”
“Most just call me criminally insane or insanely criminal,” Chester spoke as if he was proud of his criminal record, “but I like how you say it so much better.”
“You’re supposed to be locked up for life.”
“Speaking of which,” Chester looked around for something, “where are our parents? Do they know that you’re here?”
Arthur stayed quiet. Chester’s head was turned away, but his left eye shot directly at the green dragon, “Oh they don’t do they?”
“No, they don’t,” Arthur growled, “I ran away and I’m never going back there.”
“My what a naughty little hatchling…”
“I’m a hell lot stronger than you,” Arthur took his stance, but…
“Did you not just hear what I said about getting into a fight in Duel World,” Taro barked at the dragons, “If you both have to settle things between you then do it in a Duel.”
“Splendid idea Mutt! We’ll have ourselves a friendly little Duel,” Chester marched his way out toward the middle of the cobble road preparing his black Duel Disk, “If you win, I’ll leave and your whereabouts will remain our little secret.”
“No. If I win, then you turn your self in, without a fight. I don’t care who you tell,” Arthur said as he took out his DeckCell and loaded it onto his watch, it announced ‘Blade of the Blaze Deck Loaded’.
“Sounds like a fair deal,” Chester snickered as he let a small violet crystal dangle before him, “but when I win then I’ll make certain that you cry whee whee whee all the way home.”
“That’s a…,” Trina stopped. She knew how dangerous that jewel was, but there was no sense saying anything out loud in front of Taro. Arthur already knew as well… he gulped to himself before gaining confidence again.
“Holodisk, Accelerate,” Arthur spun the wheel that would activate his Duel Disk. The hologram of his Duel Disk form itself into a red and gold custom.
“Good,” Chester dropped the pendant and a eerie black mist surrounded the duelists and their two spectators. Taro wanted to ask about it, but the duel was already starting.
“Let’s duel!”
“Go ahead and take the first move,” Chester let his tongue slip through his teeth as he spoke, “Brother.”
“I’m not falling for that old trick,” Arthur stood in the ready with his claws flared as if he was prepared for his brother to charge at him at full force, “you go ahead with the first move.”
“Wanting to give me the handicap I see,” Chester teased, ”my how much you’ve grown,” the red dragon’s eyes narrowed at his sibling, “on the other hand, so have I.”
“What does he mean by that,” Taro whispered to Trini.
“Arthur’s strategy usually revolves around his Trap Cards,” Trina explained in a hushed tone, “so he usually wants to take the first move to set them.”
“Then why did he-?”
“DRAW,” Chester ripped out his first card, “I Summon Fire King Avatar Kirin… in Attack Mode of course.”
A green flaming creature that resembled a regal unicorn. (1000 ATK) Arthur knew otherwise. He knew all kinds of mythological creatures. This was a blatant insult towards Arthur, but he wasn’t phased. He learned a long time ago not to give his brother the satisfaction.
“I see you’ve got a new deck.”
“I’ve been reborn since our folks sent me away to that marvelous little spa,” Chester stabbed in a facedown, “I’ll Set a card and end my turn.”
“Then I draw,” Arthur motioned for a holographic card to slide out of his deck. A different deck than when they were young means that he’d have to hope his deck had what it takes before that shadow pendant did too much damage to him.
“And I’ll Summon Masked Dragon,” Arthur called for his pale dragon to appear onto the field (1400 ATK).
“What a perfect monster for you to Summon, little brother,” Chester chuckled, “it suits you perfectly.”
“Blaze forth Masked Dragon,” Arthur shouted as his dragon charged forward and shattered his brother’s Kirin.
“Now that’s a little uncalled for,” Chester pretended to be emotionally hurt despite the flames from his destroyed monster barely singed his skin. He signaled for his Trap Card, “Now my Regretful Rebirth brings my Kirin back from the Grave.” Chester’s monster leaped back onto the field in defense mode (200 DEF).”Plus I chained it with his own ability, sending my Flame Tiger to the Graveyard.”
“I’ll finish up by setting two facedowns,” Arthur announced.
“My turn, Brother,” Chester squealed like a maniac, “I’ll Tribute Kirin and Advance Summon Manticore of Darkness.”
In a flash of lightning, Chester’s monster disappeared and was replaced by a violet winged lion man with a scorpion tail. The beast roared louder than the thunder (2300 ATK).
“Big whoop,” Arthur rolled his eyes.
“I’ll also remove Fire King Avatar Kirin to Special Spirit of Flames,” Chester announced for a fire giant to appear beside his Manticore (1700 ATK).
“Okay, slightly bigger whoop,” Arthur pressed the button on his Holodisk, “I’ll activate my Backfire trap card. Now when my Fire creatures are destroyed, I’ll take out 500 of your Lifepoints as well.”
“Big whoop,” Chester mocked, “Manticore attack with Roar of Rage.” Chester’s Manticore charged forward and smashed Masked Dragon into the ground. Arthur was taken aback by how unreal (or incredibly real) his dragon’s carnage was.
“Oh my god,” Taro mumbled to himself, honestly shocked. Trina was unfazed by it. She knew many duelists that preferred this kind of realism to their duels. Especially ones that performed Shadow Duels, “I think I’m going to be sick.”
“I… I’ll activate Masked Dragon’s ability to Special Summon another Masked Dragon from my Deck.”
Arthur’s Dragon appeared to revive itself as Manticore returned to it’s side with a small snack in it’s mouth. Arthur’s trap shot off a fire ball in Chester’s direction after that.
“Now we’re even…,” Arthur stated.
“Oh my poor diluted Brother,” Chester fanned the smoke and flames away from his face, “we are far from even. Spirit of Flames Attack!”
Chester’s giant raised his arms high in the air to summon a small infurno under Arthur’s Masked Dragon. Arthur quickly Special Summoned his third Masked Dragon in Defense mode as his Trap shot off another fireball. Chester breathed it in as if it was a breath of fresh air.
“Hmm… that tastes good,” Chester shuttered in delight.
“Did he just do that on purpose,” Taro’s tail tucked itself between his legs, “and enjoy it!?!”
“It’s because Chester’s sadistic. Always has been,” Arthur growled to himself, “he enjoys seeing others suffering. Even his own monsters.”
“Oh the contrary dear brother,” the crimson dragon smiled to himself, waving a finger before him, “I enjoy complete and total destruction. The old making way for the new and ever lasting future. The suffering of others is just a sweet bonus that goes along with it.”
“Shut up,” Arthur pointed a claw out, “You may have thrown me off by how real you’ve made these holograms, but I wont fall for it. I will defeat you with my own path.”
“He thinks that those are just holograms,” Taro looked at the Manticore that was chewing away at his prize. The beast looked directly at him with a hungry glare.
“No, Arthur knows,” Trina lifted Taro off the ground, “but worrying about whether or not his monsters are real isn’t going to help him think clearly.”
“Have it your way,” Chester shrugged, “I End.”
“I Draw,” Arthur slid out another card, “I’ll Set a Monster and End.”
“Playing defensively wont save you this time around, Brother,” Chester swiped his card, “I’ll activate Pot of Duality.”
The top three cards were Royal Firestorm Guards, Hand Destruction, and Phoenix Wing Wind Blast. Arthur didn’t recognize two of these cards. He made a mental note of what they were as Chester picked one of them: Hand Destruction. Knowing Chester…
“I’ll play it right away,” Chester laughed to himself as he threw away his cards. Arthur didn’t have time to be concerned with Chester’s cards. He selected which cards he had to throw away carefully, but wished Chester had activated it sooner.
“I’ll Summon Laval Lancelord without tribute,” Chester slapped his card down. A new giant grew from the ground. He raised a lance that clearly was made of molten magma. (2100 ATK)
“But that’s not all dear little brother. I get to Special Goka, The Pyre of Malice,” Chester slapped another card down as metal pot rose before Spirit of Flames, “Of course I have to destroy a Fire creatures when I do.”
Chester snapped his clawed fingers and his Spirit of Flames was taken in by the Pyre. A spark later and Goka’s flaming head roared out of the pot.
“Reminds you of anyone,” Chester asked, “Now Laval Lancelord attacks.”
Lancelord thrust his javelin directly at Arthur’s Masked Dragon. Masked Dragon melted away under the heat of the weapon. Frankly, Arthur looked away as he looked through his Deck once again.
“And I’ll replace him with Flamvell Dragnov,” Arthur announced. His new dragon was heavily armored. He seemed to be more made of armor than flesh, even as he burned from all over (200 DEF). Of course, his Backfire still shot off it’s little flare at Chester.
“Then I’ll have Goka Destroy your little Dragnov,” Chester motioned for the fire demon to begin his assault.
Arthur smiled to himself, “Now would be a good time as any to mention Dragnov’s ability is to take out 500 of your Lifepoints when he’s destroyed by battle.”
The lava dragon shot off a flare along with Backfire in a double assault. Dragnov disappeared from the field before Goka’s demon could catch up with him. As Arthur had un-summoned it and sent it straight to the Graveyard.
“Only one Monster left…”
Chester’s Manticore charged again. This time he didn’t rip the card apart. Instead, the beast roared and punched right through the card. It shattered like glass as the after image of a metal flaming image faded away from where the card was. Arthur breathed in as his lifepoints were safe and Chester lost yet another 500 points in a flash of flames. The flames were finally getting to him. Chester was now breathing hard from all the damage he’s been taking. Still smiling like the maniac that he was.
“That’s it,” Chester raised his head, “that’s enough of a lead for you to have. But come next turn, I guarantee that I will pay you back ten fold.”
“I’m sure you would,” Arthur kept his gaze downwards, he gulped. The carnage was getting to him And Chester knew it. The young dragon didn’t know what frightened him more. No, he had to stick to the plan.
“I End with a facedown,” Chester slowly slid the card into his disk, “but at my End Phase Laval Spearman is destroyed and I get to bring Fire King Avatar Kirin back from out of play and into my hand. Just like you will be soon…”
Chester’s monster crumbled into ash and his Kirin flashed back into his own hand.
“I may have lost one of my Monsters, but I still have two powerhouses ready to shred whatever pathetic monster you think will save your lifepoints,” Chester began that obnoxious laughter again, “and now everyone will see how worthless you really are.”
“One Seventy Six…”
“What?”
“One hundred and Seventy Six,” Arthur looked up at his brother, “that’s how many puzzles I’ve solved in a row. Thirty Five of them today. And you’re going to be number One Seventy Seven.”
Chester didn’t understand what his brother was talking about. The dragon looked far too cocky to be the little brat that he grew up with. His own tail flicked out of anger. Why wouldn’t Arthur cry and give up already? That was the very question that the old Arthur would have asked himself instead of drawing.
“I have grown up since we were… kids,” Arthur looked over to Trina, he knew she’d get the joke he made, “And while we both have new cards and even decks, some things never change.”
“What are you talking about,” Chester pointed to the dragon, “You may have gotten the lead with lifepoints, but you can’t hide behind your Monsters forever!”
“See that,” Arthur pointed out, “is exactly what I mean. You may have a new deck, Brother… but you’re playing the same old game.”
Chester still didn’t understand, Arthur knew this. Chester was just one of those people that could never understand what it truly meant to grow up as a person.
“I’ll Set another Monster and End.”
“You little,” Chester barely tapped on his deck when he realized what it was, “during my Standby Phase, Goka Specials a Fireball token in Defense.”
Goka burped up a living fireball that eerily resembled a skull. (100 DEF)
“But it’s not going to stay long as I Tribute both it and Goka,” Chester stated as they both combined into what could be best described as a flaming egg, “to Advance Summon…”
Chester’s new Monster revealed itself before he finished. The bright multicolored dragon bird called out as it’s massive wings threw flames everywhere. Taro and Trina had to dodge a flame that caught itself near the two of them.
“Ah! These flames are real,” Taro shouted.
“What else did you expect from a Shadow Game,” Trina stated as she left Taro where they landed to quickly search out a fire extinguisher. She already found one under the bar and got to work putting out as many flames as she could. Arthur would be a little more concerned about them if he wasn’t already awestruck by the Winged Beast (2700 ATK).
“Fire King High Avatar Garunix,” Chester finished, laughing as he bent over and slowly rose himself back up, “and with him comes the pain.”
“But first you’ll have to go through my monster.”
“With pleasure. Manticore,” Chester signaled for his beast to attack again, “but first Level Limit- Area A.”
Chester’s trap raised up and the dueling arena grew crimson.
“Now all level 3 or lower Monsters will be forced into Attack Mode,” Chester focused on his brother’s monster, “and my instincts are telling me it is.”
Arthur’s monster flipped face up and was forced into attack mode. A red blacksmith was busily working away on a weapon. (500 ATK) When the Manticore pounced on him, his hammer smashed itself across the beast’s face before vanishing. Arthur had taken the card off the Holodisk itself. The next part happened so fast that Chester had no clue what happened. All he could remember was a great amount of flames, much more than Backfire had been using until then.
“What just happened,” Chester roared, “What the hell just happened!?!”
“My Monster was Iron Blacksmith Kotetsu,” Arthur pointed up his claw for his holographic equip card, “It allows me to bring Divine Sword - Phoenix Blade to my hand.”
“Not that,” Chester snapped, “why did I just take all that damage?”
“Oh that? Well besides when my Backfire activated,” Arthur brought up another holographic card, “You should have paid more attention to what useless cards you’ve been sending to the Graveyard.”
The Monster’s afterimage floated behind Arthur, a flaming metallic lizard/dog hybrid known as Volcanic Counter. Chester already knew the card’s effect, but Arthur explained any way.
“Volcanic Counter is automatically removed from the Graveyard when I take damage from battle,” Arthur shattered the card again, “however, if there is another Fire monster in my Graveyard then the damage that I take is taken out of your Lifepoints as well.”
“Why you little piece of-”
“And I still have a facedown,” Arthur interrupted his brother, pointing at the card, “Are you still willing to attack me again?”
“I don’t care what your facedown is,” Chester snapped, signaling for his bird dragon, “Garunix Attack!”
The dragon bird flapped it’s wings with a hurricane strength before launching a flamethrower that made Arthur’s own look like a birthday candle. Arthur hastily turned his back to the attack to protect his Holodisk from being damaged by the very real flames that were coming his way. Unfortunately, his sweatshirt was not as protected as he had to let it drop to the ground.
“And now I End, Brother.”
“That was my favorite shirt too,” Arthur drew his next card, Taro recognized it immediately, “Alright, it’s here!”
Chester’s smile fell flat as Arthur’s grew wide from joy.
“First, I activate my facedown Call of the Haunted to bring back Flamvell Guard.”
A new dragon appeared on Arthur’s side of the field. This one a dark blue with gold trimmings. A wall of flames surrounded it, but significantly faint.
“Next, I Summon Inari Fire,” Arthur announced as a mystical flaming fox walked out onto the field. She glared at the crimson dragon as if she were looking into his soul. Which she obviously wasn’t otherwise she’d cower in fear.
“Now I’ll activate my Soul Stone Spell Card,” Arthur’s spell card appeared out on the field, “This card allows me to Synchro Summon any monster I want from my Extra Deck, even without a Tuner. So Level 4 Inari Fire and Level 1 Flamvell Guard, Let’s go, Synchro!”
Inari Fire nodded her head as she followed the round dragon into the floating spell card. The card flashed white before bursting into flames.
“Oppressed and hidden away from the sun. The time has come to light the flames for revolution…”
A golden armored being dashed out with a burst of flames behind him. He skid on the ground to a stop between the battle fields before backflipping into his place on Arthur’s side. His armor had a dragon motif going on with it and the main parts of his body shimmered a rainbow of colors that slowly shifted. He stood confident and proud beside Arthur.
“Freedom Fighter Damurah!” (1500 ATK)
Chester’s wicked smile slowly grew back into place, “and what exactly are you going to do with that thing? It only has 1500 Attack!”
“For now he does,” Arthur selected a card from his hand, “But when I equip him with Divine Sword - Phoenix Blade.”
Damurah took hold of the blade and swung it around a little just to test it out. (1800 ATK)
“Plus I’ll discard couple Flamvell Baby to increase attack even further,” Arthur threw away pair of cards as his monster developed a flaming aura. (2600 ATK)
“I’ll also Special Infernal by removing from play a Fire monster from my Graveyard,” Arthur slapped down a new card from his hand. A wall of Fire grew beside Damurah, laughing in a manor similar to Chester as it shifted itself into defense mode (1900 ATK), “Now I’m ready to Attack.”
Damurah focused his flaming aura into the Phoenix Blade. He bent his legs and leaped high into the air. He flipped downwards and sliced Chester’s Manticore in half and shattering it.
“That’s nothing little brother,” Chester laughed to himself, “Tis but a scratch! AND it will be back at my End Phase.”
“Damurah’s Ability kicks in,” Arthur announced, “or should I say Inferno’s Ability. Damurah’s Ability is that he copies the abilities of all Fire Attribute Monsters on the Field and thanks to Inferno, You’ll lose 1500 more Lifepoints.”
“What,” Chester shouted to himself as Damurah landed before him. Arthur’s armored monster grinned as Inferno charged forward and over the both of them.
Afterwards, both Monsters flashed back into their master’s side. Chester’s eyes were almost clouded over from the strain to his body. Suddenly, tormenting his little brother just wasn’t fun anymore.
“It’s over,” Arthur stated as his Freedom Fighter Damurah’s strength lowered back down to 1800.
“It is over when I say it is,” Chester jabbed his only card into his Graveyard, “During the End Phase, I can discard a Beast to revive Manticore of Darkness.”
Chester’s Monster un-shattered itself back onto the field as he ripped out a new card for himself, “Now I’ll play Circle of the Fire Kings! This allows me to Destroy Garunix and bring back a different Fire Monster to take it’s place, so come forth Goka, Pyre of Malice.”
Chester’s monster burst into flames and hardened into a stone form of itself. The husk shell that was left behind fell away into dust and was replaced with Goka’s pot. The demon’s head rose out as the container slowly landed before them.
“Now it will be over at my next Standby Phase, Brother,” Chester laughed to himself, “as soon as my Garunix revives itself, it’s ability will destroy all of the monsters on your side of the field and I’ll have my three powerhouses finish you off for good.”
“Alright,” Arthur drew his next card, sighing, “Oh good…”
Chester looked at him in confusion.
“Sorry, for a minute there I thought that I’d have to send my Monsters in for a suicide attack,” Arthur flipped around his card, “I Summon: Command Knight!”
The feather armored knight rose from the ground before him. She had a hand to her sword and was ready to draw it if need be. Her own ability kicked in and rose her own strength (1200 ATK -> 1600 ATK), then Freedom Fighter Damurah raised the Phoenix Sword before her as his own strength increased (1800 -> 2200 ATK).
“Command Knight’s ability increases the Attack power of all Warrior Type monsters on the field by 400 points.” Command Knight drew her sword and clanged it against Damurah as Arthur continued to explain, “In addition, Damurah copies her ability and increases their strength even more.”
The two warriors slashed their swords downwards as they faced down their common enemies. A flaming aura engulfing them both. (Command Knight 2000 ATK, Freedom Fighter Damurah 2600 ATK)
“You better say it now Chester,” Arthur glared at his brother, “because you’re not going to be able to say it after this.”
Chester closed his eyes as he turned his head away, “… it’s over.”
The black mist vanished and all the damages that had been done (to Taro’s surprise) simply disappeared as well. The crimson dragon’s eyes were glazed over entirely as he turned and began walking away. Chester would keep on walking until he was back in police custody with no memories of ever going to Duel World (As was his Penalty Game). Arthur looked sad about his victory and almost as much in a daze as Chester to Taro. However…
“That was awesome,” Trina tackled the young dragon, overjoyed that the flames had finally died away and that the Secret Village was safe. Taro was not nearly as overjoyed as he was just gawking at the sudden disappearance of very real flames. He knew that he couldn’t have dreamed all that. Even the surrounding crowds knew that something had happened, but couldn’t see past the black smoke.
“Okay, not to quote your brother’s foul language, but-,” Taro padded his way in front of the two furs, “what the hell just happened?”
“That was a Shadow Duel,” Arthur stated as he bent down to grab his (fully repaired) jacket. He put it back on without any problems, but the violet gem that Chester had used dropped back to the ground. Trina caught it reflexively and brought it back up to her face.
“And what is that,” Arthur looked up at her.
“I don’t know,” Trina stared at it, “It looks like a Shadow Pendant, but…”
“It can’t be…,” Arthur swiped it back from her, “Shadow Pendants can’t reform themselves after their owner is defeated.”
“And how do you two know so much about Shadow Pendants,” Taro tapped his hind leg.
Arthur stared at the shiba dog, shrugging, “you know… internet?”
“Tell me the truth,” Taro’s eyes narrowed at Trina. She looked at Arthur for help, but the dragon didn’t want to say anymore than he did. The cat fur sighed.
“Because this isn’t our first encounter with them,” Trina explained as she pocketed the pendant, “I can’t tell you why, but we’ve each had more than our fair share of dealing with Shadow Duels in the past.”
“Such as…?”
“Look, it doesn’t matter what we did before,” Trina glared at the little dog, Taro understood that she didn’t want to talk about her own experience, “what matters is that we don’t use them or let anyone else for that matter.”
Taro was about to argue further with her, but Key Mace spoke up from the snack bar.
"Trina Shroud," Trina turned toward the fairy man. He was holding up a phone
"For me," Trina took the phone, "Hello?… wait what? Slow down, I can barely… hold on… you what…?…………………….. Oh My God! How could you lose him?"
“What’s wrong,” Arthur placed a hand on her shoulder as she turned to him with her head down.
“It’s Marshal…”

Knowing Chester's personality… (*Shutters*) highly undesirable results. Although your burning for eternity sounds like something he'd do for anyone else. Chester would want to bring Arthur back to their parents for a more Psycho(no pun intended)logical torture. And not the fun to watch and make fun of kind either. The Fugazi's are very… well, best I can describe is more fun sucking than being sent to that faculty in Batman Beyond (S2e16 "The Last Resort").
