Hungarian Dance #17 - Brahms - Violin and Piano
This is a recording from a rehearsal of a recent recital. I'm a bit sick, so I probably could have played much better, but I hope you enjoy this most fanciful of dances all the same!
I'm playing the violin, as usual.

To word this in a simplistic manner, this is one of the most fantastic and wonderful pieces I've ever heard on this site - I might even go to the extent to say that it's the best piece I've ever heard on this site, and amongst some of the most joyous music I've had the pleasure of listening to. I don't know what luck brought me onto FA in time to see this on the front page, but I'm glad I was here, and I'm very glad I heard this. You instantly have a new watcher, and perchance even an avid fan - I'll be listening to this incessantly for the next few days. This is amazing, and I hope you continue to keep up the great work. ^^
Well, prepare to have your mind blown; I don't think it's even one of my best recordings on here. But thank you! I try my best, fortunately fortune smiled upon you and showed you this little piece! I hope you enjoy my future submission then; I'll try to not go back to my old ways and only upload renaissance music. But I make no promises.
Cool! If that's how you sound when you're out of practice, I don't think you're in bad shape. XD
I recently got myself a new horn to replace my old piece of junk, it's a Jean Baptiste made in Germany. I'll be using it in my performance this week, which I shall upload here as soon as I get the recordings.
We're doing some Humperdinck and Mendelssohn! The orchestra's also doing a Vivaldi Concerto Grosso, but as you might already guess, I'm not in that one. XD

Haha, thanks! Not so much out of practice as out of whack, part of my disease involved extremely painful muscle aches, so I needed to play on painkillers. XP
And Humperdinck's name gets me every time! There's no law that says you can't use brass in those - the continuo can in theory be performed by any selection of instruments, of course it has to be tactful. I once worked on a Monteverdi opera that used them very well to accompany the singing of the Gods! I'll be looking forward to hearing those~

It's the Mind.
I'm actually playing it from a minute and fifty seconds slower (at most) and fifty seconds slower (at least) than all my recordings! Of course, none are a violin and piano transcription - I just looked on YouTube and I am a bit faster than most of those, but they're not the version people generally listen to. The orchestral and piano 'versions' have more charm~ The way I think I managed was by playing the sweeter and sombre parts more slowly and treating the chordal sections where all the energy condenses as strettos - rubato con molto sentimento, haha! Superb, it means I've done my job!

Tonight on 'It's the Mind' we examine the phenomenon of Déjà Vu. That extraordinary feeling.... extraordinary.
