Furality: 7 YEARS LATER (G)
Before we begin, I would like to state how exciting and intriguing each Furality is. From meeting new friends, finding that special encounter, exploring/comparing different versions and themes of each Furality and the oh so many surprises. We can be here all day talking about the many memorable moments of each Furality/what the experiences were like for each year. (except for the first two, since I was not able to attend due to my work/college schedule) But as the old saying goes? Nothing is truly perfect and all good things come to an end. From post con blues, re-kindling memories with after parties and or simply staying in empty lobbies of Furality worlds, that will soon be privated in the future. As we celebrate 7 years of Furality, let us go over the pros, cons and the in between aka suggestions, that always ensures us that Furality will forever stay on top, as one of the greatest VR cons of all time:
Pros:
-Prides itself in supporting charities/continues to shatter records.
-Incredible/beautiful looking worlds.
-Avatar booths
-One world is always guaranteed to be public.
-Unforgettable musical performances.
-Fantastic customer service (Drama gets eradicated fast/is nonexistent)
-Vibrant, friendly and open minded community.
-A safe zone for furries.
-Welcoming to everyone. (even if you are not a furry)
-Beautiful opening and closing ceremonies.
-Lots to do.
-Will make tons of friends (might get lucky and meet some popular individuals)
-Lots of streamers, will stream Furality and create some fun moments.
-Lots of lessons and amazing conversations.
Cons:
-Gets a little expensive over time/each year.
-Not a lot of activities or booths for bronies. (Bronies need love too)
-Technical issues/lag/crashes (are usually fixed on the go)
-Doesn't last too long, unless there is an API outage or if a charity goal has been reached.
-Falls on a weekend.
-Post con blues
-Repetitive events (it's not a bad thing, but more variety is always welcome)
-Meet ups can grow tiresome for those, with social anxiety.
-A popular furs paradise. (This can be a good/bad thing, as it can overshadow other upcoming popular furs and etc.)
-Makes non-furries, feel peer pressured to assimilate. (especially during meet ups)
-Most friends that you make at Furality, usually will lose contact with you. (With no proper planning and how to continue set communication. VRchat needs to integrate their communication systems with Discord soon)
-Instance portal system is still a little buggy/makes it impossible for friends (even after they paid for their vouchers) to join you without logging into the website.
-Constantly getting spammed by friends/acquaintances, who want to take you away from your time at Furality. (nor respect your boundaries)
-Depending on the streamer, it is best to not get in their way if they are streaming.
-If your main goal is to meet a popular individual, know that they will be bombarded by others/not be in the best of moods/will keep themselves in private instances.
-Most community showcase/DJ submissions, are usually denied.
-Not a lot of game worlds are used.
-Barely any puzzles or interactive assets, to bring the worlds to life/keep the attention of a lot of people.
Suggestions:
-Exclusive game worlds for Furality only (Beta test)
-More creative ways, to bring the events to life.
-A way to create "custom" meet ups, even during the after party.
-A poll system, where supporters and such can vote on which world/game world, can be made public. (only one of each)
-A lore world, where everyone can be caught up with the past Furalities.
-Encourage popular furs, to interact more with people/give them tips, where they won't feel so overwhelmed easily.
-Allow the supporters to provide ideas, for the next set up events.
-Offer limited time discounts on vouchers, before the date of Furality. (By providing a donation goal, before the first day of Furality)
**If you have any other suggestions, please type them below in the comments**
Despite the cons, Furality is still an unforgettable/incredible experience, with staff and a community, that can not be matched by others. In the next section of this journal entry, I will now be ranking each Furality based off of overall experience. While I am only basing this off of my 5 year experience (and ranking the first two, in accordance to word of mouth) never let this discourage you, from attending Furality. Each experience is personalized and despite any issues that arise from a technical scale, it is well worth the admission price. A lot of people state that Furality, is literally the same thing as going into a public lobby and talking. That is far from the truth, as you are getting a virtual experience, of what it is like to be at a con in real life! Now let us rank all the Furalities from an S to B scale, because each Furality (despite their differences) are special, unique and thrilling in their own way:
S= Between Furality Aqua and Furality Sonma
A= Furality Umbra/Furality Slyva
B+= Furality 2021/2020
B-= Furality Luna Festival
In conclusion, Furality will leave you breathless and mesmerized, as it showcases lots of innovation, history and most importantly, wonderment that will be remembered for the ages. As long as Furality continues to uphold itself to a high standard (to the best of it's abilities) and supports charities, I will always make sure to support (and if possible) attend as many of these Furalities, for as long as VRchat remains alive and well.
