This is a world inhabited not only by anthros and animals, but Great Predators as well. These massive creatures prey on people and animals alike, often devouring them whole. To live in this world as an anthro isn't bad, though. While the threat of being prey is present, in modern day there's little danger if you keep to the cities and know what you're doing. Through education and adaptation, people have come to live peacefully alongside their much larger counterparts... mostly.

Mistakes happen, predators become ravenous, and sometimes the universe itself seems to conspire against certain anthros, dooming them to a demise in the belly of the beast. Still, it's rare. Stay sharp, stay safe. Venturing away from defended cities is no more dangerous than getting into the drivers seat of a car. That all said... naturally the spectacle of a person being tossed back is one that sticks in people's minds, so it's often the topic of discussion as you will see on this page.

Life hasn't always been like this. These creatures only began to appear in the early 1900s, but quickly spread across the world, forcing people to adapt once they learned fighting wasn't an option. Plenty have waged war against the great beasts with some success, but they are not mindless animals. They are no less intelligent than you or I. They do not take kindly to their kind being killed and will seek to avenge their fallen. While you may expect such a war to thin the numbers of the Great Predators, their numbers seem to stay steady. If you kill a Great fox on an island, you'll likely find a new Great fox or other predator there not long after, though islands are not ideal for their nomadic tendencies.

Research is conducted on these sapient animals all around the world, with most research focused on finding ways to live harmoniously alongside them while minimizing people lost to their hunting, but there are those that seek to destroy them by any means necessary. Despite the mistakes of the past clearly shown in grim effigies such as ruined cities, the slaughter of the Greats is a goal sought by many. Still, most live peacefully in towns and cities that utilize non-lethal deterrents to dissuade predators from hunting within their limits, and employ EAS systems and shelters in the case they fail. It's rare, but these systems do fail, as can be clearly seen in old videos of attacks within city limits clearly showing civilians devoured alive and whole in the place they were supposed to be safe. It's a dangerous world, and all we can do is educate and adapt to ensure the safety of those around us.
