I have no intentions of playing “little brother” to “big brother” by uploading my face or ID to Discord, despite their assurances they’ll immediately delete it. They already had a major data breach not too long ago and cannot be trusted. Plus let’s face it. Why would anyone with a grain of common sense dox themselves like this? Bet you any money they won’t actually delete that data and will keep a copy of it somewhere else. It’s Orwellian and it’s wrong.

It took me months to finally start using Discord after much prompting from my friends. I only need minutes to stop using it if I end up getting that prompt to upload my face or ID. So with that said, here are two alternatives that I personally use.

Telegram - Has group chat options similar to Discord and it’s really simple to use.

Session - Is even more encrypted than even Telegram. Though its group chats are a little more limited in scope than Telegram, it is even more secure and also decentralized.
