My name is Matt, I got into the world of drawing not too long ago. I'm a big fan of The Lion King. My favorite character is Timon. I draw him 90% of the time. Although my perspective of him is different than other's here. I prefer to capture his fierce side. The opposite of the movies. I've tried other themes but wasn't satisfied. I like giving Timon power rather than the childish joker he was in the movies. Or some reason I was always blind to that part of him and saw something else in him. So I base my drawings on that. One thing that gets me in the mood for drawing is music especially 80's music such as Def Leppard Don Hanley, REO Speedwagon, Tears for Fears, Phil Collins, etc. I do my best work after listening to music.
More about me (unrelated to artwork and drawing).
So under species I put wolverine although I don't draw them. Wolverine was my nickname in high school. Wasn't the biggest but I did do a lot of weight lifting and wasn't afraid of anyone. Even the football players and bullies knew to keep their distance. I wasn't a trouble maker just liked respect. I don't consider this bragging. Nothing was really to be proud of. After graduation and the stress of high school I did a 180 and calmed down before I joined Furaffnity. Now I'm a free spirit trying to live life.
Apart from drawing and artwork I'm also a certified Skywarn storm spotter for the Dallas-Fort Worth Texas area. Got my training in 2005 and 2011. I'm a licensed amateur radio operator. As a stay at home spotter I keep track of the weather as a side hobby and report severe weather automatically with an automated weather station which feeds to the NWS through their mesonet aiding in storm alert systems like sirens and weather radios. My station ties in to that network providing real time alerts. Which helps save lives. When it isn't storms my station along with others helps with short term forecast models. You might call me an amateur meteorologist apart from an artist. What does this do with drawing? Nothing. Just thought I'd put that out there.
I also on occasion help out with the installation of fountains in neighborhoods, parks, sport complexes, apartment ponds etc. Really good friends with the local specialists who work on the ponds and lakes and fountains. https://www.lonestarfountains.com I've done several projects with these guys and is something I enjoy when I get the opportunities.

Life at its best and worst. (G)
It's been a while since I've done anything here aside from stuffed animals. Life's busy and I have little time for anything.
It's been an tiring week. If y'all been watching the news lately, the McKinney, Texas pool party incident, that went down not too far from my house. Things been peaceful here but my community as a whole has been through hell and back with all the biased publicly. After Al Sharpton was ran out of town yesterday morning hoping that things return to normal.
So here's why I'm posting, I just heard about the new movie, Jurassic World. Looks pretty good. Dug into it on Google and I'm having mixed thoughts. When it comes to CGI I'm pretty picky about the quality. Almost to the point of OCD. I mean let's face it, FA is loaded with artists who have many times more talent than the high school dropouts Hollywood hires. Today nobody uses physical materials.
From what I see based on shots from the movie the CGI looks impressive. But other scenes look to have sloppy CGI. I mean the detail has to match the surrounding ambient light. So when is sunny out and a T rex opens its mouth, you expect to see the at least faint features of the back of the mouth.such as the throat opening, arches, etc. Most CGI I've seen these areas are blacked out. Even when the surroundings are bright. To me that's cheap looking.
Perhaps it's just my mind set. I and most on this site love a good maw shot. Love the details especially around the throat area. Monster movies usually fail at this due to production cutbacks. But if we're to spend money to see something, shouldn't we get what we pay for?
Ok, I haven't seen it yet. I'm hoping to. I'm also hoping and assuming others here have and can share their thoughts. If anyone can answer, how was the the CGI? Is it one of those movies were they show the dinosaur briefly but mostly focus on the characters? Do they shake the camera so much that you can't see what's going on? Are there any contrast issues that render scenes "imperceptible" to viewers?
Bottom line, is it an awesome sci-fi movie that's worth the money or another crappy sci-fi movie? After seeing, "into the storm" I'm convinced Hollywood is becoming corrupt.
