Sapphire and gold particles left glittering streaks on the boy’s tongue as he ate another wafer. He grimaced at the taste and looked concerned at the small number of remaining wafers. “What happens when we run out?”
“We end.”
The boy became angry. “That’s not fair! We were supposed to be eternal! I want to live forever!”
“You shouldn’t have killed everyone else – they could have prolonged us.”
“I hated them.” The boy pouted. “They were noisy and didn’t do what I said they should do. It’s their own fault”
Radiant sunlight bathed the boy and he stretched his arms, basking in the energetic rays. His face transformed from the angry pout into a cherubic smile. “I’m going to kill them all again.”
