Bluesky account, update on Sodacan and Roadkill (G)
Heya!
Many of you already know this, but I do have a Bluesky account. On Bluesky I post updates on things going on with my art, most notably news about the comic Sodacan and Roadkill. If you want updates on what's going on with the comic, consider following me or even turning on activity notifications if you really don't want to miss a thing.
That said, since you're already here and since I promised an update on the comic in the title, I'll say pretty much the same thing I said on BlueSky a few weeks back but in more detail.
The update is that summer holidays are over and as such progress on the comic has slowed down to a crawl as it always does this time of the year. Not only am I back to work, but many of the hobby groups I'm in that had a summer break have come back for the fall season. Also I've had a lot of stuff on the weekends on top of all that. In short, my entire calendar since the first week of August has been absolutely full of everything except this.
I haven't really had time - much less the energy - to work on the comic for the past three weeks, but whenever I do, I try to post screenshots of the progress I do make over at BlueSky. Looking at my calendar, September seems to have a few Saturdays with not much going on, so I'll try to squeeze in a few hours of drawing on those days if nothing more important turns up.
As a wild guess, I would expect the next page to be done somewhere between mid September and late October.
I do understand that's a pretty wide window, but that's the way it goes when doing this as a mid-priority hobby on top of a job and several other hobbies.
I do promise, though, that this comic will keep going for the foreseeable future as that's one of the advantages of mid-priority hobbies: if I don't feel like it, I can take a break and come back when I do, as opposed to just burning out and cancelling everything when things get overwhelming.
Notably, I've already done 6 pages this year, which is the same as 2024 and 2023 and one more than in 2022, so my pace - while glacial - has been very steady for the past three years with no signs of slowing down.
Also, while we're here, I will take the time to assure everyone that this comic will get an ending. Or more specifically, this introductory story I've been telling for the past couple of years will get a resolution, and it might not even take that much more pages. Though I am terrible at estimating page counts in advance, I would still dare to say that the first major resolution of this comic will happen in at most another twenty pages, but likely less.
After that is done, I might take a break, or I might start writing the next story, but that's something I'll plan for in a few more years when this first one likely concludes.
Anyway, I haven't gone anywhere. I'm just slow as I always am. And also end is coming - in a few years anyway.
