So, it's official - I've gone dog mode.

This might come as surprise to some, since I love rabbits and hares (and still do), but after mulling over it for a while, I feel like I've reached a new stage in viewing who I am and who I want to be.

As for what caused the shift...a lot of things, really, including the passing of someone close to me. However, I think the biggest reason was that I've been on a journey of self-discovery lately, and after about a week of workshopping new fursona designs, I ended up with her.

Some reasons as to why I went in this direction:

In most games where you can customize your player character/avatar, I usually pick female characters with fairly simple designs. This is the same reason she has entirely black fur and is a pointy-eared dog. This will also make it much easier to make a fursuit out of her.
I realized that in both art and RP scenarios, I liked doing things associated with dogs.
A lot of my favorite art pieces feature pure black dogs with menacing sharp teeth.
I like female characters that have dark hair, are confident in themselves, aren't afraid to beat up bad guys, have a sense of grace/coolness about them, and are willing to defend those who need it. Some characters that came to mind when thinking about Serenity were Susie from Deltarune, Hiruko Shizuhara from Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, Chloe Valens from Tales of Legendia, Millenia from Grandia 2, and CyberSix from the show of the same name.
This is probably the first character I've made that I immediately clicked with and felt representative of myself, rather than a character I'm forcing myself to be like, or a character that's forced to be interested in the same things I am.
I learned about the Black Dogs of English Folklore and how they were associated with the spirit world and coming storms, and I thought that was pretty cool.

So yeah, I'm Serenity, and I'm a doggy!

(p.s. I'm still gonna use Pastel! That pink goober isn't going anywhere. Honestly, I feel like I can flesh out their character better if they don't have to be based off of myself.)
