Battletech Merchandise! Help make it happen!
General | Posted 9 years agoHey guys. So I found out Harebrained Schemes is trying to put out Battletech merchandise and are currently taking pre-orders. Here's the link.
Battletech Crowdfunded Merch
Dear god I want that Inner Sphere banner set like you wouldn't believe. A Steiner hoodie would be awesome too. Hell, they have hoodies for both Inner Sphere great houses AND major Clans! Everybody wins...well, except the FRR.
Anyway, the gist of it is they need to meet minimum order number in order to be able to actually make the merchandise to begin with so if you want to get the item you NEED to preorder it to help ensure the thing gets made in the first place.
Even if you aren't interested in purchasing anything, please please PLEASE at least spread the word, either here or Facebook or twitter or whatever. This really needs to get around because if you aren't already keeping tabs on Harebrained Schemes to begin with, this is really easy to miss.
Thanks. <3

Midwest Furfest: Thank you everyone I saw. <3
General | Posted 9 years agoThis is a long one but I really hope anyone going by here gives it a read. I knew I said I was basically done with long journals, but this one absolutely had to be made.
Well, I got home from MFF in despite being there for only a little more than a day, it made for one hell of a wonderful weekend. I was under the impression this was the smaller, more intimate alternative to Anthrocon. Imagine my surprise that MFF almost seemed as big if not bigger! The last time I went to a furry con was AC 2012 so going to MFF gave me a chance to get together with from friends I haven't seen in a long time as well as meet more friends I've made since then.
A good chunk of the day was just hanging around with about a dozen or so people and just bullshitting and having a blast. We talked, played games, joked around and just enjoyed each other's company for a good while. Late evening we met up in a hotel room and watched Kubo of the two strings and generally had a ton of fun. This was also a lot of what Sunday was like until I had to leave. A running theme it seemed was everybody concerned I was in my death throes. I'm in the second week of bronchitis I seem to get every year at this time and that means a hoarse voice and a horrible sounding cough. Despite feeling way better then I sounded, it was touching to have so many concerned.
However something nice was Chicago got hit by a big flurry. Some people got to see snow for the first time ever and watching the suiters playing around in it was insanely adorable. Truth be told, I've been seriously considering getting a partisan first for a while now but I still have a lot of research to do as well as getting over the prospect of actually looking like a curvy dragoness. A part of my brain still doesn't know what to make of it. Still, could be a lot of fun and I'd get to actually give real life boobhats.
The other big reason I decided to to was because of the Chikara season finale I talked about in the weeks leading up to this. I bought six tickets but ultimately four of us ended up going and it was probably the highlight of the trip by a small margin. It was three and a half hours of some of the funniest, most emotional and exciting wrestling I've ever seen in person and getting to share it with my friends for their first time going to such an event. Talking about the event itself would take way to long but talking a bit to some of the tecnicos, shaking hands and getting hugs by your favorite wrestlers is just amazing. I even got a moment to have some word with company founder Mike Quackenbush to express my gratitude for their promotion being around and rekindling my long for pro wrestling. He seemed so thankful for it. Also, he was willing to give me hug. I swear these guys are the best.
Parting with friends is always such a bittersweet thing and I always cry but this time I got over it faster than usual and without sinking into a mini-depression, probably because everything felt so right. I'm going to go into some slightly more personal thanks but in general to all of you. Each and every one of you is such a beautiful person and I feel so profoundly lucky to have the privilege of knowing every one of you.
jaeh has been one of my closest friends for a while now and the one guy I knew was committed to seeing Chikara. Also along for the show I got to meet
the_wp in person as well as meet
blyzzarde who turns out to be a pretty big wresting fan. The evening in Logan Square was SO much better sharing it with you all and I hope we can do it again some day. Also Jaeh, glad you like the present. <3
ryoku7 and
gravewalker are an adorable couple and it was so good to see you again after after for years. I also can't thank you guys enough for you guys allowing me to crash in your room after converting the "Chair of Shame" Into and impromptu "Bed of Shame". You guys enjoy Fist of the North Star and Gravy, if Ryoku starts singing like Randy Newman, don't hit him to hard. X3
It was really nice getting a chance to see
janus and talk Transformers. I also adore the sketches you made for me. So cute! Thanks again!
I also got to see
danny-mac-quazy again for the first time in four years. I'm really glad you ran into some good Smash competition. Fight the good fight!
Thank you
deonwolf for bringing along Kubo of the Two Strings. It was a really impressive movie I'd never bother to see if not for you. Thanks for correcting my dumb ass on your commission process also. XD
I'm tremendously appreciative to
sydak and all his roommates for being willing to let me crash in their room and even though it didn't work out, the gesture means a lot to me.
fierglief is a big puppy love machine and now I know his secret! I can turn his brain off with noggin rubs! But beside that thank you for treating me to a cup of coffee. Muddy is visiting in January and I'll noogie him for the decaf boobies.
Hey
bloodhydra , your Decadriver was friggin' sweet! One of these days at one of these cons we need to get everybody to bring their belt for a photo.
Specific things aside, love and major shout out to a whole slew of people who were just terrific company! Apologies if I miss anybody but some of the delightfully dorky crew include
ark-noir ,
swaggyaces ,
goolashe ,
grinex ,
espent ,
seritaph ,
raththomas ,
brenderlin ,
dragonien and anybody else who I can't recall at the moment. There were just so many of you! You're all such wonderful geeks and and just all around great people to be around. You're also terrific huggers. <3<3<3
This was a great trip. It's always uplifting to be reminded that your loved. Thank you everyone, those I saw at the con and those I know here that I hope to get together with again and/or soon. I love you all. <3

Midwest Furfest: Chikara Supremacy Sold Out!
General | Posted 9 years agoWe're just a week away from Midwest Furfest and the Chikara Season 16 finale. I went to the website to see if there were any knew promotional videos and found the evening show was sold out! The afternoon show still has a fair number of tickets remaining though I have no idea for how long.
Also, a shout out to friends and acquaintances, A reminder that I have 5 extra tickets for the second row of the evening show and only two are really spoken for. If you'd like to hang out Saturday evening and see a great show, give me a heads up so we can meet in Chicago.

See Pro Wrestling during Midwest Furfest
General | Posted 9 years agoHey guys, just over two weeks to go until MFF and I wanted to, once again, pimp my favorite wrestling promotion. Chikara is having their Season 16 finale on the Saturday the same weekend as MFF in Chicago with afternoon and evening events. Tickets are still on sale but I'll be amazed if they don't sell out. Here's the info. I greatly appreciate anybody helping to spread awareness about this. I think it's a great chance to watch some of the best wrestling out there right now and I know there's furs out there that love wrestling even more than I do.

Transformers Masterpiece-36 (Fangasms)
General | Posted 9 years agoAll Hail Megatron!
By the Matrix he looks SO much better than their first try. See for yourself.
The orange plug is still a bummer but with any luck it'll be easy to remove. That bright orange cap really screws with aesthetics to me.

Retrospective of 7th Generation Games: Wrap-Up
General | Posted 9 years agoI realized today I never got around to wrapping up that list of some of my fave games from last gen. I don't feel like writing mini essays like the rest but I figured I might as well list the rest. I hate leaving work unfinished. If you want me to elaborate on my reasons let me know and I'll do it in the comments. So here were the remaining five games:
1. Vanquish
2. Transformers: Fall of Cybertron
3. Bionic Commando Rearmed
4. Dark Souls
5. Dragon's Crown
And if you want a reminder of what the others were:
6. Virtua Fighter 5
7. Anarchy Reigns
8. Prototype
9. Bionic Commando
10. No More Heroes
11. Asura's Wrath
12. Assassin's Creed
13. Marvel Ultimate Alliance
14. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle
15. Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage 2
I feel like I should also give honorable mention to Phantasy Star Universe, Sengoku Basara 3 Utage and Metal Gear Rising. Loved them all, just not quite as much as the above.

Ask Zera #7
General | Posted 9 years agoI love getting questions, especially about nerdy stuff. Want to ask me a question?
Just read this and send me a note!
GreyofPTA asked: Two-fer question!
1.) Which toony comic would you consider your favorite?
2.) If you were to recast an actor from the Avengers movie series, which one would it be?
1. This one is kind of tricky since I don't typically read cartoon comics but I can at least mention ones I've read and enjoyed. I've read some old Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck comics for their historical relevance and found them fun reads. Just about anything by Carl Barks is worth checking out. What little Asterix I've read is pretty cute. Also, it's kind of a stretch but I feel it's adequately toony, I love Golden Age Captain Marvel/Shazam. C.C. Beck's art just has a timeless charm and holds up remarkably well in my opinions.
2. I'd probably recast Black Widow. I've never been especially fond of Scarlett Johansson's acting. Her performances to me are forgettable at best and unbearable at worst. Black Widow was originally going to be played by Emily Blunt who I would definitely have preferred. She's a better actor and I think she has a look that's more convincing as ex-Soviet superspy.
Also, for shits and giggles, I'd love to see Kurt Russell as Nick Fury. Don't get me wrong, Sam is good and fun, but he's playing Ultimate Universe Nick and my Fury of choice is the original and I'd love to see how that's done in film.

Who wants Battletech books?
General | Posted 9 years agoSo, in past months I've been trying to expand my collection of Battletech books to material published by FASA. Most of these are out of print so I had to settle for pre-owned copies. I have certain standards of condition and thanks to sellers being "generous" with their appraisals, I obtained a couple duplicates in my pursuit for books in decent shape. They aren't in bad shape. Just not up to my standards. They are as follows.
-Field Manual: Capellan Confederation
-Field Manual: Lyran Alliance
These are sourcebooks. They have some information pertinent to the game but mostly it's a bunch of fluff and other material to flesh out the lore of the universe circa the Civil War era. Specifically, the field manuals focus on the militaries of the their designated successor states. Topics include stuff such as history, organization, units, rank, strategy, uniform, and virtually anything else you could imagine that would pertain to an army.
If my enthusiasm for rompy stompy robots has you more curious about the Battletech universe and you want to learn a bit more about a successor state military and, by extension, a peek into the culture, just comment and I can send you a note. Preferential treatment will be giving to friends. Otherwise it's first come first serve.
Oh, and if you want me to describe the above two states in a nutshell, just ask. =3

General | Posted 9 years agoI love getting questions, especially about nerdy stuff. Want to ask me a question?
Just read this and send me a note!
kay-dee667 asked: If Zera were to have an evil counterpart (like Negaduck to Darkwing Duck), what's he/she gonna be like?
Well, she'd probably be red and orange primarily. Insofar as personality she'd probably the sweetest, most innocent thing you've ever seen. A virtual saint! =P
Drag0nK1ngmark asked: ok i got a few questions:
1. What anime have you recently begun to watch or rewatch from the 80s and 90s?
2. Do you prefer watching anime no one has heard of or watch mainstream anime?
3. What is your favorite cartoon in recent years?
4. Do you ever listen to video game soundtracks?
5. What is the first video game you played as a kid?
1. Most recently I rewatched the Fist of the North Star movie for the umpteenth time. One of my favorite movies of all time.
2. I watch what I enjoy, however I tend to avoid whatever anime people are raving about at the time. For me the popular shows are usually pretty mediocre and the fanfare is more of a fad than anything. Seems to happen on a weekly cycle. Thankfully they latch onto a good thing once in a blue moon (Gurren Lagann, JoJo).
3. By cartoon I'll presume you mean Western animation in which case I don't really have an answer since I never kept up with many cartoons. Regular Show and Gravity Falls were perfectly watchable and I kept up with the first two seasons of MLP. That's about it though. I'm more a reader than a watcher and most shows I watch nowadays are eastern.
4. Absolutely! I listen to them more often than "normal" music. Some of them are also great workout soundtracks.
5. Bionic Commando on the NES. It made me a Bionic Commando nut for life. My Bionic Commando lunchbox is testament to that. I remember it well and it's still one of my favorite games of all time. It has a great gameplay premise and it holds up incredibly well today. It's so good in fact that I personally think you could make a compelling case that its remake last console generation is the best video game remake made to date. Either way, the original still has a permanent, special place in my heart. A robot grappling hook arm and blowing up Hitler's head with a rocket launcher will never not be awesome.

Are any friends going to MFF?

shiron91 asked:1. What consoles do you have?
2. What is your one favorite pokemon of all time?
3. What is you one LEAST favorite pokemon of all time?
4. What is your one favorite Manga of all time?
5. What is your one LEAST favorite Manga of all time?
6. What was the was best anime you've ever seen?
7. What was the worst anime you've ever seen?
1. Going off memory but I'm pretty sure this is all of them as follows: Super Nintendo, Gameboy Pocket, Saturn, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Playstation 2, Gamecube, XBox, Gameboy Advance SP, PSP, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii, New 3DS.
2. Steelix, easily. I wish he didn't suck nowadays but there is nothing not awesome about a giant metal snake.
3. This is kind of a cop out but there's at least a dozen or so monsters I almost completely forget exist because they're just so bland. I don't recall them unless I see them or have to think. My least favorite are those. They aren't even memorably stupid like the living garbage bag or the heart fish. They're just so forgettable. I can't think of any immediate examples off the top of my head. >.=.>
4. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is easily my favorite manga, though Fist of the North Star isn't far behind.
5. That's a tricky question. Bear in mind I don't dabble in manga NEARLY as much as I do in comics so there's a small pool to draw from and if I don't like a manga I usually don't read more than a few volumes. In the last few years I recall dropping Soul Eater extremely fast after only two volumes. I found it bland as hell.
6. This is a toss up between Vision of Escaflowne and The Big O. They are very different shows but both are very near and dear to my heart for various reasons.
7. Well, there's "good" worst (MST3K quality schlock) and "bad" worst (Couldn't stand to watch it). In the former category, I'm tremendously "fond" of Mad Bull 34. It's such a horribly sleazy, bat-shit insane show but it's also great riffing material. An amazing show everybody should watch with friends at least once. In the latter category, I HATED Tenchi in Tokyo. This is mostly thanks to me really liking the Tenchi Muyo OVA and seeing those characters in a vapid, lazy pile of shit like this made the mediocrity all the more gut-wrenching.
-Edit-
And dear god, how could I forget the abortion that is The Big O II?! Now that's a show I despise. As I said in the above reply I love The Big O. Those 13 episode are pure animated noir heaven with a side of science fiction and homage I find utterly delicious. The Big O II took pretty much everything I loved about the first season and chucked it out the window. Gone was the atmosphere and subtle characterization, instead replaced with the pretentiousness, conceit, and pseudo-philosophical navel gazing of every dime-a-dozen Evangelion copycat that was saturating anime at the time. Even the animation was worse. I legitimately believe the series would have been better ending on that massive cliffhanger than continuing in this dross.

kay-dee667 asked: Any chance we'll get to see male Zero again? Maybe see Zero and Zera hanging out together? Not very likely. Like a lot of people's fursonas, mine has been a work in progress since its inception and the sex change was just a very large step in that process to make it something closer to what I wanted. On the infinitesimal chance somebody wanted to make fan art of the old male sona, I'd have no objections but, if I commission anything, it'll be female only.
GuanYu56 asked: 1. You love mechs I know, did you ever play CHromeHounds? 2. Which Kamen Rider has the best theme song? I like SuperNova for Kiva. 1. I did play Chromehounds way back in the early days of the Xbox 360. I wasn't a huge fan of the designs but I remember adoring the online element and the teamwork it involved. Having the multiplayer be just one perpetual war for territory was awesome. I'd love to see FromSoftware take a little breather from the Soul series and revisit this concept, polish it up and maybe add a better single player game to give it more longevity.
2. I haven't watched the season yet, but I really like Decade's theme. It sounds epic and it's an amazing song to fight to in the Battride War games. Honorable mentions go to Fourze and OOO. Both were really great high energy songs that got me and my friends pumped for the show. Kuuga's theme is above average in the opening but the full song is great. It kind of reminds me of Pink Floyd in a way. Not sure why.

emotioncreator asked: Since from the entire list only one category seems to save me from being bombarded me with comic book related stuff that tries so hard to turn me into a consumer myself (I shan't be taken away by them, ye dark satyr! 8V), I might as well concentrate on video games which seems to be universally something people can get into a lot more easily due to their interactivity. And with that out of the way, I've got ye some questions:
1) When referring to "older generations", what console eras are you exactly referring to? (Atari 2600? NES? SNES/Sega? PS1/N64/Sega Saturn? Dreamcast/PS2/Gamecube/Xbox?) Are handheld consoles also counted here?
2) From the said generation(s) you specified in question #1, what are your favorite game titles and why? (And which one of them triumphs over others, as in: which of the titles is the King of the Hill -favorite?)
3) From the said generation(s) you specified in question #1, what are your disliked game titles and why? (And which of them is bottom of the barrel bad, if not even dug into the ground to mold forever?)
4) Games that you've wanted to try out, but never have gotten to YET you wish to try out?
5) Favorite genres? Least favorite genres?
6) What about the current era of video games? Any favorites/dislikes so far?
7) Any thoughts upon the current "console wars" or the gaming marketing experiences and ways to possibly improve upon it?
8) Imagine a new game is announced. Not belonging or part of any existing series, it's just a new game with it's own name and so far, you have no idea what kind of gameplay it entails within. What's the most important thing to you for you to get excited for this game, a "catch" that should get you hooked to it or at least peak your interest towards it?
9) Do you have a tendency to look for obscure games that could be potential hidden gems of a specific game console or do you stick to more widely known and recognized games?
Hoo boy that's a lot! And don't worry, we'll get you into comic books yet. Comics are far easier to get into in my opinion. For one thing they're cheaper. ;3 Anyway, here goes, right down the line.
1. When referring to older generations I'm pretty much talking about anything from 3rd gen to early 7th, including handheld. I just feel like the quality of the good games was generally higher than it is nowadays and we didn't really have to deal with the flagrantly exploitative, anti-consumer bullshit like we do nowadays.
2. Oh man, I don't think I can pick a king of the hill and going into detail for each one would be a journal in and of itself. I can definitely ramble off a few titles that immediately come to mind and if you want me to elaborate on specific ones, just ask in the comments and I'll do what I can. Anyway, a few among the best of the best I can think of include: Bionic Commando, Soul Reaver, Super Metroid, Megaman X, Street Fighter II, Donkey Kong Country 2, Doom, Resident Evil 2, REmake, NiGHTS Into Dreams, God Hand, Devil May Cry, Killer7, Silent Hill 2, Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei, Ogre Battle 64, Okami, Advance Wars, Viewtiful Joe, Baten Kaitos, Fire Pro Wrestling Returns, Zone of the Enders: 2nd Runner and this list is getting silly so I better stop while I'm ahead.
3. I'm hard pressed to think of many games I hated. I was pretty good at dodging crap. Sometimes you just look at a cover and you just know. That said, I did play this abysmal Beast Wars Fighting game once. It was a rental exclusive at Blockbuster Video. God that game was shit.
4. I've always wanted to try Steel Battalion for the Xbox. I love clunky mechs and mech piloting simulators and that obscene controller gets me hot like nobodies business.
5. I love Fighters and Action games with honorable mentions to survival horror and good adventure platformers. I hate sports games and most simulators for real like things such as Flight Simulator and Gran Turismo.
6. I don't have any of the current gen consoles so I have no opinions on the games. I have a few I suspect I'd like but that's only a suspicion.
7. I've never paid much mind to console wars and I don't care enough about the industry as is to pay attention to it, let alone suggest what it can do to improve itself.
8. Well, in lieu of knowledge about gameplay, I'd have to know who was making it. Gameplay is a huge determiner for me. It doesn't matter who's making a game if I think it looks like crap. However, if I hypothetically knew nothing about the existence of a game and somebody said "Hey, you hear about that new game Shinji Mikami is directing?", I'd have a much more positive reaction than if somebody said "Hey, you hear about that new game Hideo Kojima is directing?".
9. Yes and no on both counts. I'm not a collector and I don't proactively try to track down games specifically because they're obscure but I do appreciate a game that looks like it's trying something interesting and if I like what I see I'll try it out. Also, I obviously have brand names I prefer to support but even then the title doesn't guarantee I'll buy new installments if I think the product looks like crap. Some of the franchises I love are clearly more well known and prominent than others.

Buy Fall of Cybertron on PS4/XBone
General | Posted 9 years agoI just wanted to take a moment to remind/inform my various watchers that for almost a month now, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron has been available on the digital marketplace for both consoles nearly a month now. Considering how little marketing this thing has been getting, I'd be remiss not to mention it and help spread the word a little bit. Bearing in mind I'm a huge Transformers fan and very biased, I feel like it's worth bringing this game up again because I'm of the mind it was one of the very best games to come out last gen. It was easily top three. I don't know the price but either way, check it out. If you need further encouragement, just watch the trailer below and tell me you honestly don't think it looks awesome.

Goosebumps. Every damn time. <3
Part of me hopes if this port sells decently, Activision will pull its head out of its anus long enough to think it'll be worthwhile to make a proper third installment to the Cybertron series. Maybe I should talk about what I'd love to see in a sequel from a wishful fan perspective. What do you think?

KidKitty asked: What got you as invested as you are now in the comic book industry, considering your current occupation and such. The answer can be as simple or complex as you please it to, but you're probably the one person I know who knows this much just at heart, if you can believe it.It was basically a variety of factors but my personal investment in comics didn't really take off until about high school when I got my first job and had a decent amount of disposable income. I've always been a fan of visual art and comics translated well into that. I started reading more about the heroes I was interested in and the more I read, the more I wanted to read. As I was more exposed to different artists, writers, and eras, I learned more about the history of the medium, its relevance to culture and art and grew a greater appreciation of the art of it and visual storytelling in general. It just basically snowballed from there. Time has gone on and if anything my interest in comics is stronger than ever because whereas other media I used to adore, such as video games and anime, have become rather stagnant, comics still come out with new material that is interesting and remain interesting if for no other reason, there's a TON of stuff I can still read.
Vector_Yamazaki asked: I've been collecting DC books based on certain writer's runs. So far I've been addicted to John Ostrander's Suicide Squad and Chuck Dixon's Nightwing and Birds of Prey. Do you have any certain writer's runs before the New 52 or anything out of DC or Marvel from any era you enjoy and like going back to reading? Bear in mind I'm far more knowledgeable about Marvel than DC. That said, if you liked John Ostrander's run on Suicide Squad I strongly recommend checking out the Martian Manhunter solo book he did with Tom Mandrake on art. A phenomenal run on my favorite DC character. The same creative duo is also responsible for an excellent run on The Spectre worth checking out. Both I like to come back to on occasion. Other DC runs I revisit with some regularity include The Question by O'Neil and Cowan, Justice League International by Giffen, Dematteis and MaGuire, and the weekly event comic 52, which is in my opinion the second greatest superhero event book I've ever read. On the Marvel side of things I constantly return to Annihilation and the Nova ongoing which spun out of it. I also enjoy rereading Walt Simonson's run on Mighty Thor, Deadpool by Joe Kelly, and the original Moon Knight solo comic by Moench and Sienkiewicz

GreyofPTA asked: Which seeker do you like the most and dislike the most?My favorite has to be Starscream with heavy favor towards those in the mold of the original cartoon. I like my Starscreams dishonorable, prone to backstabbing, and utterly incapable or holding the reins of leadership on the off chance they get it. I'm hard pressed to think of many characters notorious for treachery, arrogance, selfish ambition and cowardice and yet be so likable for it. The fact that Starscream is so damn OPEN about his intentions is what makes him so fun. His spats with Megatron are like a vaudeville act and for me it never gets old. Top it off with a timeless performance by Chris Latta, and just an all around cool design and you have the makings of a villain I love to see failing time and again. It's perfectly understandable to my how he became a pillar of the franchise.
The seeker I dislike the most is Thrust. There's just so little about him that stands out and all he ever seems to do is die. I've never been especially fond of the coneheads to begin with. I think they look goofy and they've never had much exposure in media. They've never had much characterization beyond supplementary writings and the tech specs from the original toys. Even so, at least Ramjet and Dirge have a little going for them. Ramjet got a hilarious Spotlight comic and is a fighter plane whose primary method of attack is mid-air collisions. Dirge in canon is supposed to be something akin to Batman's Scarecrow. Thrust on the other hand is just a discount Starscream whose combat MO is a shittier version of Thundercracker's. He has an ugly vehicle mode too. Those VTOL rotors on a fighter jet just look horrible in both modes.
Loner2000 asked: What inspired/helped create your dragon girl OC? Anything that lead to you liking inflation?Well, when I originally decided to make a fursona I was already dead-set on being a purple dragon. I love the color purple and dragons have had so many different takes throughout all fiction that as far I I was concerned, a dragon character was creative carte blanche. I used to play Dungeons & Dragons back in high school and one of the supplementary books I still own is the Draconomicon. I basically flipped through that and used the Blue and Platinum dragons as the foundation for my design before taking it in my own direction. For example I also strongly considered a Unicorn character but passed it up. I still wanted to retain that awesome spiral horn. As for my OC swapping from male to female, long story short, I was just having more fun that way.
As for my liking inflation, I'll be damned if I can attribute it to any one thing. I'm an enthusiast of pretty much anything and everything that can fall under the umbrella of expansion. Inflation is one of the more popular forms and I've enjoyed it for as long as I can remember, although I didn't enjoy it in quite the same ways I do now of course. Earliest recollection of inflation I enjoyed was the inflation sequence in The Three Caballeros. Another example was an episode of Darkwing Duck that involved a growth serum made by Bushroot. I really enjoyed sequences these. I have no idea why and I still can't really articulate why I enjoy expansion/inflation as much as I do. As far as I know it's just always been a thing for as long as I've been alive.

I still want to write. Do you want to ask me stuff?
General | Posted 9 years agoI said I was done with journals about a month ago and I still don't think there's much point in sharing my opinions unsolicited. Still, considering I'm rarely on chat programs much anymore and my streaming is highly inconsistent, I'd still really like to talk about things for fun. However I decided I'll leave that up to you, the reader.
Basically, feel free to ask me virtually anything (use common sense here) via note with the title "Journal Question" and I'll answer it at some point in the future via journal. It'll be like tumblr except without me actually having to make an account there because I don't want to. Obviously you have to be okay with your username and question being posted publicly.
So yeah, ask what you like, within reason. However I do appreciate more open ended questions that allow for meatier answers. Also, some subjects I'm particularly passionate about if you're curious:
-Comic books
-Transformers
-More comic books
-Video games (older generations)
-Pro-Wrestling
-Battletech
-Manga and some anime (predisposed towards 80s to mid 90s)
-Kamen Rider
-B-movies
-Action figures
And of course feel free to wing it. Hell, ask me about something YOU are passionate about if you want. Could be interesting. =3

It may not be as mainstream as Yu-Gi-Oh or Magic, but what little dabbling I've done in Vanguard seems pretty cool. Noodle is a pretty big fan of trading card games and proactively competes in his local scene so I think it's safe to presume this deck is an adequately competitive one. Also, best offer is available. Always nice if you're on a budget and want to do a little haggling.

Amazing what happens when a kickstarter is run by by a company that actually seems to have a plan and understands the logistics involved in making a game. Time will tell how it turns out but you have to admit it certainly looks a lot better than a pile of number two some other kickstarted games wound up being *winkwinknudgenudge*.

General | Posted 9 years agoDone with journals by and large
General | Posted 9 years agoThanks for the input on the last journal. It helped me come to the decision that I'm going to basically stop doing journals. I common response among a lot of people was they read them but don't respond because they aren't sure what to contribute due to lack of knowledge or hat have you. I greatly appreciate anybody who took the time to read them. However I think it's worth noting I said I write the journals primarily to spur discussion and the responses last time reaffirmed my suspicion that in that regard, my journals have been a monumental failure. Considering some of these journals can take up to 2 hours for me to make, I feel it would be more productive now to put my time elsewhere.
Thanks for the comments. They helped. I'd like to remind others that you don't need to be knowledgeable in a topic to contribute to the discussion about it. You just need to be inquisitive and a good listener. If you're interested and want to pitch in, ask questions. From my experience, knowledgeable people enjoy sharing their knowledge and if you're willing to listen and learn, then you're contributing to the conversation just fine.

Should I even bother writing Journals?
General | Posted 9 years agoSerious question. Word are put to paper to be read, so what's the point if nobody is reading?
I don't really think I have much that's worth saying. I'm not enough of a narcissist to think that my thoughts are so profound they absolutely must be out there for all too see so when I post a journal it's not because I feel some need to get my ultimately meaningless thoughts out there. I do it do invite discussion. Simply putting down thought for their own sake seems utterly masturbatory to me. I like to get other perspectives, to to share my passions and indulge in those of others if not maybe get them more curious. I like feedback. I love to share what I love and while I know the purview of me journals can be very narrow a times I'm still often disappointed by how little others seems interested in engaging.
I see no reason to ruminate on the "why's". I just want to know how many people really care all that much about entertaining the writing. I' tremendously grateful to anybody who ever comments on my journals. It's great to interact and hear opinions and for that I'm tremendously grateful.
Sadly though, the question remains. How many people actually care about what gets posted here? When I think I have my answer I plan to delete this journal. Any feedback offered is much appreciated.
Thanks. =3

The pain...the horror...and some good memories too.
General | Posted 9 years agoSo my co-worker today brought in something he got on amazon. It's basically a guide to vintage transformers figures, just about anything under the G1 umbrella from 1984 to the early 90s. It gave some basic information, tech-spec bios and even a rough pricing guide. Pretty cool and one hell of a nostalgia trip. What got me into Transformers when I was just a wee dragon was a combination of TV reruns and hand-me down action figures oftentimes with missing parts and accessories. I didn't know back then, nor did I care. I was young and imaginative, not the broken person I am today, and I was just floored by how awesome these robots were.
I've always had it in the back of my head that's I'd like to go back some day and replace my old favorites that were lost in my family's first move and maybe get some of the others I always thought looked awesome. So I just felt like perusing eBay tonight and goddamn...my modern collector mentality was going haywire. I know it was a different time and all but the condition of some of these vintage toys were positively HAGGARD! I don't think I vocalized revulsion this much since the climax of Audition. On the flip-side though I also got a sense of how completing these collections may be like finding buried treasure. The 100% complete Transformer is a less than common thing so seeing all these components and random accessories being sold individually was like looking at a table full of jigsaw pieces. I think I may suddenly have a better insight to this sort of collector mentality that loves "the thrill of the hunt". My collector gratification has usually been elsewhere so this was something like a moment of revelation. Kind of fun to get out of the usual brain-space honestly.
Anyway, I always like a little reader interaction so what were some of your earliest remembered Transformers if you can recall? For that matter, what were/are some of your faves or ones you've always wanted? Sharing time everybody! Let's go on a nostalgia trip together! I'll start. Here were my original hand-me-downs I can recall. Bear in mind most guns and weapon accessories were missing but I'll note missing parts that were more significant or humorous.
-Sludge
-Brainstorm (No Headmaster)
-Blurr (No car mode hood)
-Rodimus Prime
-Headstrong
-Ultra Magnus (No EVERYTHING!)
Funny story about Magnus. He was my favorite back then because he was like a "cooler looking Optimus Prime toy" and I liked him a lot in the movie. I knew the toy came with the big suit which is how I knew I had Magnus and not just "Ghost Optimus". I would have liked to have the suit but I was just happy to have the awesome guy from the movie so when I made believe with my toys I pretended he didn't have hands because he replaced them with laser cannon arms like Megaman and he didn't fight with the suit because he was such a hardened badass he didn't need the fucking thing. He was Ultra Magnus goddammit and he was going to save the day single-handedly with his no-handed laser beam arms.
I really hope you have a similar story to share. ^.=.^<3
