Our Obession With Social Media
Posted 9 years agoI'm not on here much, I admit; I am posting my projects elsewhere where I have a little more freedom to do so.
But, also, I am concerned about the future of our society when coupled with an internet that seems to dictate our actions and our decisions, and seems to make us less social via the use of tools dubbed "social media."
I recently saw this broadcast: https://www.yahoo.com/katiecouric/i.....121946695.html
The broadcast summarizes the concerns of users of social media (especially girls) with the following: "Social media is destroying our lives; but I don't stop using it because then I would have no life."
I am shocked, and appalled, and most especially terrified.
I understand that people make use of social media to validate their perceptions of themselves in the judgments, comments, and "likes" of other people, and we all do that in a sense with FurAffinity when we post our artwork. But it's becoming an obsession to the point that it is becoming dangerous. People are being bullied, harassed, driven to suicide, and dying behind the wheel because they're distracted while trying to record their speedometers-or worse, take pictures of themselves driving the damn car!
I understand the desire to live through the internet because I do it myself; I don't have too many friends I can go out on the town with, and I work too much to really have a physical social life outside what time I have off. So I play alot of videogames while I try to secure a better job. I'm on Plenty of Fish and OkCupid in hopes of finding someone nice, too.
But seriously! Someone needs to educate people and tell them this sort of obsession of social media is not okay. It is not okay to get yourself killed over a tweet, a text, or a picture, and it's not fair of you to drive someone to suicide over the content they post either!
Personally, I do not have a Facebook; I do not have an Instagram; I do not have a Twitter; I don't even have a smartphone. I do not have accounts on any website that requires me to post daily updates, selfies, or announcements about what I am doing (not really, anyway). I am not obsessed with my online persona or my image online to the point that I post something that gets me fired, but I am mindful about what I post, if ever I do post.
I do not use social media...because I don't need it to be sociable.
I don't have the desire to take a picture of myself and digitally alter my ass to look smaller or my teeth to appear whiter. I don't rip dolphins out of the ocean and pose with them for a thousand selfies until the poor thing dies in my arms. I don't record myself making an ass of myself to the point that I get fired from my job for making an ass of myself.
And I can't really sympathize with anyone who is obsessed with this sort of thing, either.
Think before you post-otherwise, pull the goddamn plug.

Yes I Am Still Here
Posted 10 years agoI work alot; I don't get too much time to myself-what time I do get I usually spend playing catch-up with everything.
Meanwhile, I got my eye on 5 models in-progress for XNALara:

Can't Believe Iwata's Dead!
Posted 10 years agoNintendo's CEO Iwata died today at 55...
I'm still amazed this happened.
I still have my Nintendo 64, and I still remember my days as a Star Fox Arwing pilot.
And hell, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time? No question about that one!

Kung Fury
Posted 10 years agoSo I got the opportunity to watch Kung Fury in lei-lani's furry movie night.
http://www.furaffinity.net/user/lei-lani/
And it was FUCKING BRILLIANT!
I haven't laughed so hard like that in a long time!
Go watch!

Just imagine...you know what? I can't describe it, because simply trying to describe it would spoil too much! Go watch! :D

And come check out Leilani's fury movie nights!

Another Story
Posted 10 years agoHello, everyone! Thank you, everyone, for your ideas, patience, and support!
So I got a new job! Going for training for said job. Pays me more than my previous job, so I'm happy about that.
I posted another story; this one about a favorite of the Aquafans videotapes, a model named Maggie.
Back in the mid-to-late 1990s, a company called Aquafans/Aqua Fantasies was in the business of making tapes about underwater gravure, sex, and fantasy drownings. They went out-of-business, but the fans keep the relics intact, especially since the aquaphile genre is still very much alive (and the Aquafans producer now works for another company, I think, called Mustang Mermaid Productions).
Aquafans videos: http://www.underwaterclipsource.net.....forum.php?f=48
So
Byondrage drew a fursona version of one of the more popular models, Maggie, awhile back: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13676433/ He thought she looked great as a fox, so we got to talking about how some of the other models might be portrayed, and what kind of ideas we might pursue beyond the tapes.
We've come up with a good count, and while Mr. Rage considers making more drawings of the models, I'll be writing some stories about some scenarios outside the existing tapes!
Stay tuned for more stuff! And poke me on Skype and AIM and such, why dontcha?

Seeking Out XNALara Models
Posted 10 years agoI've been working on acquiring more models for XNALara, but artists have either removed them from their DeviantArt pages or they've simply lost them...how irresponsible...
So, long-short of it, I'm looking for models like...
* underwater scenery
* cargo ship
* hallway interiors
* scuba equipment, like air tanks, flippers, and goggles
* cameras, including camcorders
I've reached some success...but more is always nice. If anyone ends up finding some, poke me!

XNALara Is Easier Than I Thought
Posted 10 years agoSo, I discovered a program on DeviantArt called XNALara; it's a 3D modeling and posing program that is actually pretty easy to use (once you practice with it of course).
I'm having some tricky trouble angling limbs without making the skin look twisted, but I'm creating the basics for some nice work.
I'm focusing on posing the characters from Dead or Alive, and I have access to the ISOs on the games to extract more material and the actual models. The problem is I have to then put them together after extraction. I think I have everything I need, but...I keep getting distracted over videogames.
Perhaps if I budget my time properly, I can actually get stuff done?
Definitely excited for what I can produce!

Ready To Drop
Posted 11 years agoI'm so ready to hit the deck right now.
They have me working like a dog through Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Saturday, and Sunday...

Day To Day
Posted 11 years agoHello, everyone. :)
It's day to day with how I'm holding up. I went out on a lunch date with this really nice girl. We'll see what happens with that.
My new laptop is freakin' amazing! It runs everything smoothly on maximum settings. Was worth every dollar spent!
I've been working hard on different projects; each one completed makes me that much happier. :)
Thanks everyone for your support.

Getting Better
Posted 11 years agoHello, everyone. :)
Things are looking up! I'm working on many big projects with people, going back to campus alot, and getting stuff done! Still employed; seems like my jobs are secure, so that's one less thing I have to worry about.
I'm still working on things, and if I work hard, I should have something new in the near future.
Thanks to everyone here who has been in close contact with me! I really appreciate it and love you all!

Posted 11 years agoEx and I fought...again...
Customer yelled at me for being unable to legally access her phone account when she was out of the store...
Coworker threw a battery at me jokingly, and hit me right in the head-bought me a Mountain Dew as an apology.
Store demanded we keep our doors open, and play music (after confiscating our music player as per new store policy).
Yeah...I had a great day...

Posted 11 years agoMan...I need some more stuff!

Back and forth with the ex...man...I need to just let her go...that's what everyone's telling me...
Bleh...women...My father thinks they're evil! XD

Got Hired
Posted 11 years agoSo I got hired!
It's a good enough job; it pays; I don't hate it, and I work for a company whose product I enjoy.
Works for me.

Back
Posted 11 years agoHello, all!
I'm getting back on my feet, thanks for my friends, here and all over, and I really appreciate it!
I'm going to stay active; working out, painting, writing, job-hunting, staying active, so I don't dwell.
I find that doing so helps me maintain myself.

Story Time!
Posted 11 years agoI think I'll work on a story next.
Thank you for the positive reviews of my (re)constructive work. :P I appreciate the patience and tolerance.
Although I've recently gone through a great personal tragedy that I'm trying to overcome by, well, working on projects...
[sighs]...
It's not me, it's...someone I love...thinks she is hurting me with her actions, and wants to figure herself out...so she's called it quits after three-and-a-half years...
I'm not doing well...I feel like I'm barely holding together...

Just To Be Sure
Posted 11 years agoJust to make sure no one has any bugs up any asses about some of the most recent Photoshop-centric submissions I posted, I moved them to the Scraps section of my page temporarily. After some investigating and questions, I've decided to keep them up as normal. If someone in authority tells me I'm 100% in the wrong, I'll relocate them.
I read the rules on the Acceptable Upload Policy. I think they'd be considered a derivative work and permitted, especially since I credited the original artists with the links provided, I claimed no original ownership no malicious intent, and I haven't attempted to plagiarize anything, but I've got a feeling someone somewhere is going to take issue with it.
I haven't been threatened and no one said anything to the contrary otherwise, but...I got a feeling some overzealous individual might come gunning.
Hope you still view them though!
I'll keep my main folder to stories and such.
