It's been awhile since I gave a life update, and with how my art's been slow lately a lot of people have been asking for YCH updates and things like that. So I owe it to everyone to just lay everything out on the table:

2025 sucked, actually my entire life just kind of sucked last year and it's gonna stay that way for a bit longer. I got tons of burnout, spiraled into self hatred because nothing was getting done, and had some dark thoughts in there, all of it just feeding into itself and getting worse as time went on. And why is my queue so bad? Because for several years I was supporting some friends that were in bad shape. They're no one in this community, but they're friends in Burma/Myanmar who've been struggling on account of the war and then the Earthquake there. I took on more work than I realistically could because they needed it, and even when I was behind I took more because if I didn't they'd loose everything from their food to the roof over their heads. And tbh I probably would've kept going if the earthquake last year hadn't taken those things from them anyway. But basically I was a parent taking care of them, and I ruined myself to do it, and I'm still ruined because I now have 2 years worth of art to get through.

But this isn't about me feeling sorry for myself, this is a journal about real steps I'm taking to get back on my feet. First thing's first, I'm going back to Kentucky. Over Christmas I talked to my family, and when the lease renews in June for us, Ren and Dandy will sign their names but I won't. It's going to be hard leaving some of my best friends in Florida, but the fact is paying my part of rent and groceries and bills is bleeding me every month. So I'm gonna live with my parents, save my money, and without a need to take comms for all that stuff I'm gonna hopefully be able to really clear the queue. Big Stories will be unaffected, but don't be surprised if stuff is slow or interrupted in June, since I'm gonna be pretty fucking sad about this.

In the meantime I'm still working on YCH's. No one's been forgotten, I'm just juggling Patreon, comms, and ych's and progress is being divided among all three. The big hurdle right now is the comic ych's, which I've sent lines to most of the folks waiting on those and even gotten flats on about 1/4 of them, but I'm chipping at the bases to just stick y'all in. I got the C, but not the H in the YCH as it were. But the comics were really big, involved, and I bit off too much on them and I will NEVER offer anything like them again. Once they're through, the others are fairly simple and in fact I've already got base lines for a few of the ones after the comics started, for folks who wanted an update.

So really it's just me chugging along until June, not much else to it. The other thing I'd like to change soon is my commissions; I don't want to do illustrations anymore. I like fashion, I like design, I like styling, and I'd like to have it in the future that instead of doing scenes and such, I design wardrobes for people's characters, croquis and paper dolls. No crazy poses, no insane sizes, no effects, no backgrounds, just a simple image of the character in a new outfit. And when I get there I'd like to take less and less comms until I can work on a portfolio and stop doing freelance.

Yeah we can all see I suck at freelancing, not as in my art is bad, but I just don't have the speed or discipline to do it forever. So someday there might be a day when my accounts just go silent. 'Ugh I can't believe it, another furry ditching the fandom' No that's not what's happening. I'm not gonna delete all my shit or denounce this part of myself, I've made too many friends and I appreciate the support I've gotten too much to do that. But someday I want to have a career designing clothes, doing what I went to school for, and furry art will become the hobby again. It's a long way away, and I'll have to work hard to make up for lost time, but it's what I truly want and I know it's my real calling.

So yeah, not a very precise update, but that's what my 2026 is looking like; 6 months of wistful routine with my best friends knowing everything is gonna end soon, followed my six months of grinding on this backlog. It's gonna be a pretty terrible year, but I'm going to do my best, because I don't wanna betray the trust and patience everyone has already shown me. I've got a couple comms I haven't posted because the holidays just had me forget, and I jumped right back into work after it all wrapped up, but I'll try to keep everyone posted. Sorry for any typos or run-ons in here, I typed it all in one big burst really, but I wanna just finish with a 'Thank you' to everyone for everything so far.

So yesterday I received a fun little note from the Fender-bot informing me that one of my pics was reported as improperly tagged, and I now have a 1st level warning on my account. Whatever that means. But since this account is where I get the most attention and engagement, I decided to be melodramatic and hide literally everything on this account.

No, I'm not kidding. I went through 12 and a half years, 1,494 commissions, gifts, fanarts, sketches, ych's, commission announcements, adopts, and baby's first MS Paint scribbles, and upped the maturity rating and added some basic tags to literally every single one. Except Patreon previews, you cannot see a single piece of my art unless you are a registered user of age. tbh there was some fun in it, going back through the art journey, seeing the first pics I ever did for friends. But then my face went numb and I noticed how A; The further back I went the less likely things were to have the automatic gender tag anyway, and B: I missed a lot of shit in my 12 years on here. The pic that got flagged was for Eon, a fully clothed rhino but with his crack out. While diving I had completely nude guys, outlined dicks in posers, a lot of groping, and one foray into male lactation, all untagged and rated general bc I guess my hand slipped.

So to whoever flagged me, next time if you're going to ruin my evening, can you at least do it on a pic that deserves the report? In seriousness I just want to warn anyone who has safesearch on and apologize for any pics that vanished. Rest assured they're still there, just behind some unnecessary tags.

Hey y'all, so wanted to give an update on things: For the past few weeks we've been moving things between our current apartment and the new place, however the new place has a lot of issues. Lots of stuff like trash on the lawn, a missing mailbox, wasps nests and black widows that weren't taken care of. But worst of all this past Friday the water heater flooded the place. Thankfully none of our stuff was damaged, but the leak was coming from the foundation and we have no clue how long it'll be before we can move in due to them having to fix it. The realtors have been super helpful, but it's clear the actual landlord basically forgot about this place. While we've been compensated and the realtor's property manager has gotten right on it and started fixing things, it's unlikely we'll be moving in when we planned to this Friday. We'll have to put our stuff there, but we can't actually live there with all the issues. That's all to say here's where I am on owed art among all this;

For Patreon: I'll try to get main illustrations done by Friday before we unplug our computers, but Gummigoo's final part and the extra sketches for $10 will be delayed.

For ych's: I have about half the current YCH batch, Room/Gym Sized done. Actually I've had these done since Saturday, but haven't posted because some hadn't gotten back yet. But I'll post the ones I have gotten confirmation on later today. I'll try to get started on the second half too, but if it takes a bit please know it's just because of the situation we're in. Thankfully we have a place to go if the house still isn't ready by Friday, but we still have a lot of furniture to move so that'll eat into my time.

I also wanna say this because I'll be doing a growth drive hopefully next week once Pa.treon rewards are done. Besides stuff for the new place, I also have a tooth surgery I need to cover for myself mid-July. I'll have my comp so I can work during that though. But I hope people don't think I'm just grubbing for money needlessly, or that I'm ignoring other owed art during this. I'm doing my best to get everyone's art out to them as soon as possible, and if anyone wants specific updates on their pieces my DMs are always open

Hey y'all. So this is a journal I'd hoped to avoid writing, but sadly with the state of the world we live in it needs to be done. Last year we added a third roomie, Dandy, and he's been settling in with us in the same 2-bedroom place we've had since 2020. We're cozy, but we definitely need to upgrade, but that means something needs to be addressed before a big move; Income. For awhile now I've been spreading myself and trying to keep stuff together with how much I bring in currently, but I don't need to tell y'all that with rent hikes, grocery inflation, gas prices and any other expenses on top of that, what I bring in has slowly been less and less sure to cover what I need every month.

The holidays were rough, January equally so as the post-Christmas bills came, and overall 2024 has been a struggle financially that made me take a serious look at my budget and realize how untenable it's been. For all of 2023 I put off things like minor car repairs, new glasses, and a new PC because I knew they would mean struggling for months afterward to recoup the loss. I really haven't even been putting anything to saving either. And that's not anyone here's fault, I'm extremely grateful for the furs who trust me enough to bring their characters to life and appreciate the work I put in enough to support me. And it's because I didn't want to be unfair or greedy that I made do without. Instead of charging more outright I thought it would be fair to put more into each ych and commission to justify it, so I didn't seem greedy. I added complicated set pieces and Art Nouveau styles to justify the extra price I needed, but really it just added more time to finish them that's just put me back in my queue by months. And when the money from YCH's couldn't cover everything, I took extra sketches to make up the difference, pushing the queue even further back. It's basically been trying to use a bucket to throw water out of a sinking ship.

I'm from the country backwoods and grew up on a sense of community, 'you scratch my back, I scratch yours', if you do right by others they'll do right by you. But it's not a community we're dealing with, it's big insurance companies, inflation, and the government. That's why I hope people believe me when I say raising my prices is the last resort I wanted to take, but here we are.

So here's what I'm gonna do:
1: Base YCH prices will go from $100 to $150
2: The colored sketches I do over on Twitter will go from from $50 to $75, and will be less frequent.
3: Future commissions will be $200 to start once I finish my current queue, and any additional charges I'll figure out later on.
4: Past YCH's, if I reopen for them, will keep their prices since I have the bases done already and work on them is minimal.

Looking back I realized I haven't raised my prices since November 2020, and I don't think I'm wrong in saying A LOT has happened since then. Not only has inflation and the economy gotten worse, but I'm pretty confident in saying I've gotten better as an artist too, and I'm not being too narcissistic by saying I've improved enough to justify a higher price. I know times are hard and some people won't be able to afford my stuff anymore, and I hope someday things get better so I can still work with you all in the future. But right here, right now I need to be responsible and pragmatic about this, because it's not just me, but my roommates and Toby that I need to be secure for.

The time has finally come, after about a year of saving and waiting our Mediterranean cruise has arrived!
