After years of dreamless slumber, I’ve risen from my crypt to walk amongst the living once more.

I know I don’t exactly have a big dedicated following, but I wanted to make this journal anyway just in case anyone was wondering what the deal is and where I’ve been and all that.

The short version is...I never really left! I’ve always been lurking around FA, I just haven’t been posting anything.

Why not?

Well, a lack of confidence in my art, I guess. I just wasn’t really feelin’ what I was drawing for a while, but I’ve kept practicing in secret this whole time all the same. I also felt like I was lazy for never properly lining or coloring any of my pictures and I thought maybe people wouldn’t want to see things like that. But a friend encouraged me and said that he, and many others, would rather see something unfinished instead of nothing at all, so that helped put it in perspective for me.

I’m feeling better about what I’ve been drawing lately and I’m looking forward to sharing it all with you, but first I’m gonna get through some older pieces that I think are still good enough to post even if they aren’t up to par with my current work. I hope you like them! I’m gonna be uploading several a day throughout the week, but I’ll try to keep from spamming your inboxes too much.

Changes to come

Lastly, I wanna talk a little about a change that’s coming to my page soon. I’ve jumped around between different fursonas over my time as a furry and, pretty much since making this account, I didn’t really have one that I felt connected to. Late last year, I started putting a lot of thought into designing a fursona that really felt like an extension of myself, something I could embrace and feel truly comfortable with. I’m very happy with the results and I’ll be sharing that design here towards the end of these backlog uploads.

The reason I’m saying that is because I’m going to be rebranding this account when I do. There will be a few days of “Hungryena” uploads just to jog my watchers’ memories so you’ll hopefully think “Ohhh yeah. I remember that guy now.” Basically, I didn’t wanna switch names right away and make people wonder when the hell they watched this new weirdo, so consider this my heads up for the change!

So in summary, it’s the same account, but with a new fursona, and soon, better art!

So I made my own profile pic for FA so I could look like a real artist and stop using this hyena stock photo, but it's unusable. When I try to shrink it down to FA's absurdly low size requirement, it just turns into crunchy pixellated mush and becomes completely unreadable. How do people get anything of quality uploaded for a profile picture??? I can't imagine trying to draw in a 100x100 grid without it becoming actual sprite art. What's the secret?

I had FA whitelisted on my ad blocker because the ads were unobtrusive before and the site needs revenue somehow, but I just got a pop up ad along the bottom of the page when I was viewing a submission. It seemed really out of place and it went away when I turned my ad blocker back on, but because it was so weird, I was wondering if that's actually a feature of the site or if I somehow got infected with ad ware. Anyone else seen something like that before?

With some encouragement from a friend (mainly so that I could watch his gallery there), I decided to give in to the bird and make a twitter account. I'm gonna be posting WIPs of things that I've drawn over time there and that I'm not sure if I'll finish. So if you wanna see some extra, sketchy vore and fatty art, check it out.

I've drawn so much since my last upload but I always get burnt out before I get around to lining the piece and/or I get another idea and wanna draw that.

Should I just post my sketches or should I really double down and get to inking more of my stuff? How do you all feel about sketches vs inked art? I just feel like inked stuff looks so much better and i wanna put my best foot forward, but...it takes so long and I never seem to get around to it.

I finally decided to upload some of the stuff I've been drawing since I thought it was finally of a quality that I could post without embarrassing myself. I've got quite a backlog of sketches that I wanna post eventually, but I wanna clean em up and probably ink em first. Anyway, hope you guys like weird gay debauchery!

There's a new bill that's been proposed by a couple of the mummies in our senate recently that threatens to destroy any and all NSFW content on the internet. The bill is called "SISEA" or the "Stop Internet Sexual Exploitation Act" and if passed, it would impose restrictions that no website would be able to meet in order to moderate ALL NSFW content. Yes, that includes drawings. Yes, it can even include nude art references.

I'm urging you all to PLEASE call your senators and tell them why they should vote "no" on this bill. I know it's not a fun thing to do, but this is important for our entire community. I've written a script that you're welcome to follow should it help you. It sure helped me compose my thoughts:

"Hello. My name is (___________) and I am resident of the state of (____________). I am calling about the bill called the “Stop Internet Sexual Exploitation Act,” or SISEA proposed by senators Bill Sasse and Jeff Merkeley. This bill's overreach is dramatic and will impose restrictions that no website will be able or willing to meet. It will functionally destroy the careers of thousands of artists across the country and render them penniless during a pandemic. In addition, it will trample on the few spaces on the internet where LGBTQ people are able to freely express ourselves and our sexuality without fear of reproach.

SISEA is nothing more than modern day puritanical christianity couched in false concern over a very rare problem. It's yet another attempt for unscrupulous people like Sasse and Merkeley to put their creepy religious obsessions into law. It is your duty to serve the American people, not these special interests who want to restrict our freedom. I implore you, senator. Do the right thing for your constituents. Vote “no” on SISEA."

Hey FA! Help a hyena out, would ya? I am a very amateurish artist looking to improve and I was wondering if anyone who stumbles upon this journal could recommend some furry drawing tutorials? Or even just give tips on how to go about developing my skills for drawing them/cartooning in general.

Some background: I've been drawing for a couple years but it's been almost entirely still life and figure drawing. I think it's gotten me into some bad habits. I can't really draw something if I'm not looking at it. I want to get better about pulling things from my mind and I'd imagine that a good way to do that is to come up with a general method or style for the forms I want to be drawing a lot, but I'm not really sure where to begin!

So yeah, any tutorials you guys have found helpful or general tips that have worked for ya, please post them here! Doesn't matter if you see this today or two years from now. I can always improve!
