Posted 16 years agoA question. If I put up an auction on FurBid today, would anyone see it, or has everyone pretty much migrated to FurBuy or Fur-E-Auction or wherever?
I personally never had any issues with FurBid since I joined in 2001, and I've always been comfortable doing business through them. Let me know, 'cause I don't really feel like switching, and when I put these auctions up in a few, I'd like to know beforehand if the place's a barren desert or not. Hopefully it isn't-- I always liked FurBid.

Anthrocon 2009 Preorders.
Posted 16 years agoIt's about that time again. Anthrocon is upon us, and this will be the first year I'll be going as a NON-DEALER! That's right, I'll be a free-roaming apparition for the first time (without guilt of needing to be shackled to my table, doodling.) I figured I'd do a little preordering again, like I did last year.
So, first off:
CON BADGES.
I am opening up 5 spots for conbadges. Why so few? I'll tell you why. 'Cause last year I didn't even fill up 5 slots for badge preorders, that's why. If you preorder 'em now, they're $25 USD. At the con (provided you want to buy one there instead), they're $30. Examples of my badgework are HERE.

Lemme repeat that. Inking by appointment only! No walk-ups.
Now, I know that since I won't be in one designated area, you might be thinking "well, Fossil, how will we find you?" Don't fret. Even in a big-assed con such as AC, I'm not going to be scarce. You'll be able to find me, and if not, someone else will point me out. Now is the time to contact me to set up your appointment regarding what you want, and getting the design worked out if necessary, in this final month or so before the convention. When your design is confirmed, you can put a down payment on your tattoo, and I will make a transfer stencil which I will be taking to the con, just for you. You can meet me there, and get inked then. I won't be inking in the dealer's room, but rather, in more secluded areas. Wanna see some of my work? Well, look at any of the last 5 or so journals I've posted, or meander around my scraps.
Some of you have already reserved time with me, and I have you on record. I look forward to seeing you there, and inking you. To the rest of you, who want to get some work done, you know what to do. Reply here, note me with "Tattoo Reservation for AC" in the title, email me, call me if applicable.
All preorder funds will go towards making sure I've got the necessary single-use needles, inks, supplies and such for the con.

A day late, I know, but hope you all had a good St. Patrick's Day, that it was festive and pleasant, and don't currently have vomit in your hair or a general hangover.
St.Paddy's Day was a long-running joke with me because it was once the only day out of the year that I DIDN'T wear green. Anyone who saw me on a semi-regular basis got it. :)

lizardbeth is doing the GoH thing, and 'cause with every new journal I see from friends, associates, fellow doodlers, it's more of "man, everyone's going this year"... and mostly 'cause it's my home con, the first con I ever went to, and will always have a special spot in my heart. Maybe next year, if the stars align. If not, no biggie.

Posted 16 years agoIt's been a long week, but thank goodness it's Friday. I look forward to a most productive weekend, where I can finish up more work I owe. The situation is right for arting to happen, without much hindrance. Hang tight, commissioners.
As for the Ustream craze, I'd have been doing live doodling sessions a few weeks ago, were it not for my recent upgrade to 64-bit Windows XP. The pro of it is, I can now utilize all 8 of my gigs of RAM. The cons? Usually it's pretty hard to get drivers for basic things that will be recognized by a 64-bit system, and I'm fortunate that basic things like my Wacom tablet drivers and graphics/sound drivers were installed without a hitch, and that things like Photoshop, Painter and Flash didn't give me any trouble on the installation. The only thing that isn't working, actually, is my old Logitech Quickcam. No matter, I'll be getting a newer/64-bit compliant one in time, no biggie. But when the time comes, I'll be doing the doodling here:

At first, I'll probably be completing commissions live, then when they're all (finally) done, then I'll get back to drawing the kind of stuff that made people want to commission me in the first place... toony dinosaur T&A.

We just moved into our new apartment, and among other things, got connected back to the net. So now an update.
I'd be posting photos of this place now, but it's having a bad apartment day at the moment. Still got a lot of boxes and stuff all over, so it's not the most photogenic yet. Soon enough.
While I was absent, we got us a new president. I'm telling you, the positive, hopeful feeling in the air is so thick, it's almost tangible. Big congrats and glad to see we did it, Mr. Obama. Bring the change, 'cause it's time for a cool one.
I'm sitting on the floor right now, between typing this entry and drawing on commissions. Which brings me to the topic:

FurFright Tattooing.
Posted 17 years agoI just got the go-ahead from the chair of FurFright, so for the first time, I will be applying dermagraphics in the Dealer's Room at FurFright 2008. This will be BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. If you're going to FF, and you want to go under the needle, here's what you should do.
Contact me via email (Fossil - at - JurassicBeauties - dawt -com) WELL BEFORE the con and have a good idea of what you want to get inked into you, where you want it, etc. and I can give you a ballpark estimate of how much it'll run you, though if you get to the con and change stuff around, it might cost more/less. If it's your first tattoo, please make sure you have an abundance of testicular fortitude. I repeat, this is by appointment only, so if you want to get on the list, you have to email me. Can't say that enough.
ALSO please note that you won't be able to enjoy the con's swell new waterpark after you've been tattooed, so if you plan on getting wet, do so before you come see me.
Additionally, you won't be allowed to get tattooed if you've been drinking alcohol or are under the influence of any questionable substance, or are anemic.
There's going to be a consent form for you to sign, and everything on the form will be explained to you in person, some of which I've just gone over. Just letting you know.
In the dealer's room, I'll be doing tats on arms, legs, necks, backs, things like that. If it's a tattoo that requires any sort of exposed nudiebits, I'll be retreating to more private areas to perform the tattoo. Also, if any tattoo requires the subject to be stretched out/laying down, I'll probably be doing that in my own quarters as well, due to limited space in the dealer's room.
