FA:United 2012 Con Report.

What an overall positive con this was! Good vibes.

Set up in the dealer's room, and man, that place was PRETTY. Such a lovely hotel. The con activity started out pretty slowly on Friday, almost scarily so- just about everyone in the room was pretty tense, hoping to get some business. Myself, I only had one predetermined tattoo, from

el3ctrophr34k. But then there came a few more trickling in, here and there, and later that day, I was commissioned to design the one that became http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8696356/ on

furryjones. My first time ever tattooing one of my own characters on someone!

One I got a little income, I stopped ghostriding it, and went to register, stood in line with fritter

Did a commission for drakeil

ecmajor (it was good to finally talk to you for a change, man! Thanks for hanging out a bit.) A mom and her toddler son came by, and he wanted to buy a button! After I hid the smut I was drawing, I sold him one, and gave him another one for free. His mom then told me he was gonna be Peter Venkman for Halloween, and I told her how I'm a ghostbuster and propmaker as well. We're gonna be in talks about getting them built some proper paranormal elimination gear.

Sunday, I did a couple more sketches, a couple more tattoos, and then...

I found out I'm GoH for FA:United 2013.

FA:United: FINAL Final Call For Tattoos... or just drawing.

Well, good morning, FA.

In 48 hours, I'll be on the road with

ScullyRaptor to FurAffinity United in New Jersey...

And I have only one tattoo appointment so far. This's a first! XD

Those of you who are going, and want something done, this's the time to contact me about it! I've already spoken to those who want to get touch-up work done, this journal's for those of you who want to get something inked from scratch! Getting something designed or drawn up prior takes time, and that's part of why I open up so early; so at the con, I don't have to spend hours drawing it up on your skin with a marker, then having to re-draw it all if you want it moved an inch to the right. With foresight, I can make a carbon stencil beforehand, which is far easier to apply and re-apply to get the placement where you want it.

ANYWAY.

Final Call for FA:U Tattoo Appointments.

FAUnited is coming in less than a month!

I'm taking a brief pause from juggling commissions, animation stuff, tattoo work and dayjob to inform you that I'll be at FA:U, and am currently available for setting up appointments for ink! I know there were a lot of you who were expressing interest in tattoowork, so now is the time to set things up!

Contact me regarding designs, concepts, placement of the tattoo itself, etc. and we can get things worked out beforehand. I DON'T like taking walk-ups at the con, I prefer to have things predesignated, and have scheduled appointment times, so again, act now on this, and tell a friend/pass this journal on.

Good afternoon, FA.

Not gonna do a massive con report this time, but, yeah, I'm back from Anthrocon, and what an overwhelmingly productive and positive experience it was! Granted, I didn't get out much, and at times I felt a little disconnected from the con itself, but in the end, the con came to ME, as it were. Awesome meeting so many from my streams, and I'm sorry I didn't get to see all of you (so sorry we didn't cross paths, yawg

muzz and many, many more) There'll be other times, I promise.

VERY special thanks to

2gryphon for having me as a roommate the whole time, and allowing me to use space in your place. Wear that ink with pride, and total congrats to you and Toast. To many happy years.

In some amazing turns of events... it seems that the old active convention lifestyle is about to crank up! I'm suddenly thinking I'll be doing MFF in November...

For the first time ever...

January, 2013, I'll be descending on California, to attend my first Further Confusion. Details to come. I'm clueless on this whole West Coast thing, so I'm gonna play it by ear, but I'll just say, some astonishingly cool fortune has smiled on me. I'm gonna tattoo for ONLY ONE DAY there, and the other two, I'll draw wherever I can, be it artist alley or whatever zoo there is.

Final Call for Anthrocon Tattoo Appointments.

Well, AC is upon us in less than a week, and as you know, I'm taking payments and making appointments for tattoo sessions. Some of you have designs that still need to be sent in and gone over, and some of you still have to shoot over the fundage to secure your spot! Better act fast! Also, for those of you who're already secured, email me at the above address with your contact numbers at the con. I will be contacting you one by one, per your requested days/times (so be sure to tell me if you have preferred days!)

All Aboard for Anthrocon Tattoo Appointments!

It's that time again! Anthrocon approaches!

And so soon after RCFM!

With this being said, I know that a lot of you have been talking about getting ink, but I haven't gotten many people to provide me with designs and dimensions yet, or secure their spots! We have to get these things squared away beforehand, and I'm taking down payments towards the full price of the tattoo application, to secure your spot! I AM ONLY WORKING BY APPOINTMENT at this con.

Lemme repeat that. You know, to try to prevent the inevitable con peeps who go "Oh, I didn't know"

I AM DOING TATTOOS AT ANTHROCON BY PREDETERMINED APPOINTMENT ONLY! No walkups or "hey can you squeeze me in" people, because that ALWAYS gets out of hand, and I end up with people knocking on my door at random (not to mention Discovering my hotel room... eesh), DAY AND NIGHT while I'm in the middle of another appointment, and I don't get to sleep til the end of the con. Yeah. AC 09? Tattooing for 72 hours straight? Not something I'd like to do again!

If you don't have an appointment worked out with me prior to the con, then there's not gonna be any inking going on, so it's important to get with me NOW about it. Post-Rocket City FurMeet GoH Con Report.

Good morning, FA.

It's been almost a week since I began my wondrous trip out to Alabama. I made it back Monday afternoon. One week ago, I was already on the train into NYC to head to the airport. What a time THAT was. Early morning stress, half-awake staggering, sleeping in the middle of the 3am airport plaza floor and giving not a fuck, lumbering with luggage all up and down the airport terminals. But I'm getting ahead of myself! Let's recap it all, from start to finish! THERE ARE LINKS TO IMAGES HIDDEN IN THE TEXT, so look for them.

In the wee hours of Wednesday night,

scullyraptor and myself made our way to the LIRR train station (thanks again,

wrong-way, for letting us use your van!) to catch the last train of the evening. We are dragging luggage with laundry, artstuff, and tattoo equipment. Ugh. We rode all the way to Jamaica Station, then AirTrain to the airport. I've been to this airport several times now, but never seen it so empty! All the luggage terminals were closed and very few people were walking around, so we just slept on the floor. I also took some artsy photos of the architecture there. 1 2

The flight was fine, or rather flightS, since we had a brief stopover in Atlanta. I wish it'd been the kind of thing where I could get out and run around, maybe see some of the old ATL crew, but no, this was pretty much "hop out, switch planes, keep moving".

We got picked up at the airport by Eria and Dora! Last I saw Eria, she was still going by Lira Kino! Things change! But her hair was lovely, very Rainbow Dash-y, very chic, and it was great to meet Dora as well. Totally sweet gals!

Now, it's still Thursday, so we get to the hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn. I get to see all the old staff again-- people I haven't seen since 2005! koakako

Met up with SirKain

SirKain, who's an old friend of Scully's, and a person I was only just now getting to really sit and chat with for more than a few fleeting moments. Nice fellow, cool to talk techstuff with.

We went to Krystal, as I HAD to have me some good ol' southern fast food while I was back down there. It was a toss-up between Krystal, Chik-Fil-A, or Waffle House... but the chili pups won me over this time. Some truly positively crazy shit happened there, but that's another story.

My artwork for the conbook cover, poster and t-shirt were well-recieved, and I'm very happy for that.

I did a few tattoos this con, between panels and table work and the supersponsor luncheon. (that was some delicious sushi!) The staff really treated me well, I gotta say. Also, congrats to

StallonBecket once again, for being Mystery GoH. It was cool to get to hang with you a little bit. I still don't know what that one old guy was going on about with your name, I really don't.

The dealer's room was cozy, and it was kind of neat to have it that small. Not so massively sprawling that any person might miss something. It was nice. I think my only regret was that I wasn't often AT my table for long periods of time, due to being needed at this panel or that panel or an event, and thusly I had to let a few people down when it came to art commissions on site. BUT, to those people, chin up- you can just note me here or email me about it. :)

Kattywampus. <3 She had it shipped from her workplace to the hotel, just in the nick of time, and I couldn't be happier with it. Oh LAWD. THANK YOU, Katty! I'll be in touch for the particulars!

Saturday, I hosted the "Iron Artist" tournament, and so, I did my own spin on the old Iron Chef "Chairman Takeshi Kaga" character, seen HERE.
My outfits aren't QUITE as cool. I try, though.

I participated in this event, as well as hosted, because 5 competitors were needed, but there were only 4. To be honest, it was originally supposed to be 10 participants, in 5 groups of 2, but we made do. The mystery media was fan blades and acrylic paint, and the theme was dragons. Lawl. Anyway, my submission was not to be judged. I just took part for the hell of it.

I also ran the Tattoo Talk panel that day, and it was very laid-back and casual, just a back-and-forth on some of the whos, whats, wheres, whens, whys, and why nots of tattooing. That was a lot of fun, and thanks to all who attended!

I was tattooing Saturday night, so I missed 90% of the dance, which was unfortunate, because after seeing RCFM 2011's Furry Formal photos, well, I HAD to get some of that action. Scully and I got all dressed up and went down, but the dance only had 30 min. remaining. It was cool, we hung out a little bit, posed for a few photos, then went back to our room to finish working on art and such.

Let me tell you something amazing. Walking to the Booster room, where the benefactors of this con can go to get snacks and such- one day I happened to just swing by because I wanted to say hi to some of the staff that I hadn't seen yet, and it was on this day that there were FIFTY PIZZAS delivered. There was even a sign for furries to be reminded to exercise some self-control. Now, I know what you'd think-- 50 pizzas are gonna disappear at a con like this, right? Wrong. For whatever reason, there were just pizzas EVERYWHERE. The staff/volunteers in that room gave Scully and I a whole pizza each, so we had some stuff to put in our hotel's fridge. There was also all kinds of delightful pastries and confections, and even one of those really rad chocolate fountains.

Sunday morning was the LiveFeed: Live event I was waiting for, and while it totally didn't go smooth, it was still fun! Camera mount broke, drawing in pencil was too dim to be seen on the projection, and the stream wasn't working online, so I just sketched with a pen so it'd show up on the wall. After that, I just opened up the floor to questions and stuff, and talked to people about my chars and their origins and such. Good times.

RickGriffin who was sitting over at the door, Holy WOW do I owe you! Thanks for scribbling sexy (yet tasteful) geekiness in my Cherri book, especially when I wasn't even around! I'm gonna get you, sucka. :D

I took one more photo in the elevator. Positivity.

We got dropped off Monday morning by Alex and Felina at the airport, and the trip back was very calm, no frazzle.

On the flight home, I just took some final artsy photos of clouds and architecture in the train station, while reflecting on this, my first time ever doing the Guest of Honor thing. Totally a blast. I can not thank you guys enough, Rocket City Fur Meet.

We made it back in town around 5pm Monday afternoon, and I'm only just now coming down from the high.

5 Commission Slots, 5 Digital Badges open!

Howdy, all! In preparation for RCFM

RCFM, my funds are nil for things like luggage check and air-train at the airport. Oh, and let's not forget GETTING to the airport.

Thusly, I'm opening up for FIVE (5) single-char pinup slots, and FIVE (5) digital badge slots to be worked on after this weekend's convention! They'll be done before Anthrocon, so if you're going, you can pick them up at the con!

You also receive the original drawing.
Pinups are drawn and inked on 11x14 Bristol, digicolored, and you receive the original drawing, as well as a hi-res jpg or png of the file.

Today is just a very positive day. Now is just a very positive TIME.

As mentioned in THIS JOURNAL, I'm making 2012 my sloppy, whimpering bitch, and it's seriously off to a wonderfully productive start.

Artwork for RCFM

RCFM's conbook and poster is completed, and t-shirt art is getting finalized today. It's unfortunate that the registration for the con itself opened so late in the game, because I know that a lot of people set their yearly convention schedules up like, January/February. Nonetheless, looking back at THIS OLD JOURNAL ENTRY indicates that a lot of you wanted to be there, so if you can still manage it, GO REGISTER!

Updates and Reminders (PLEASE READ)

I want to say that I don't like making multi-topic journals because goodness knows that all too often the point is missed. I probably shouldn't even open this journal with a sentence like that. Ah, well.

IMPORTANT STUFF AHEAD. If this doesn't pertain to you, or if you're broke and not attending any of the following, that's cool, just keep it to yourself! <3

Rocket City Furmeet is a little over a month away. They're still open for Registration and such, so go check it out. They're at http://www.RCFM.net and also at RCFM

RCFM, so be advised. I'm working on conbook and badge and t-shirt stuff, and nearly done.

Anthrocon is not long afterwards, and I AM GOING. I'm open for tattoo appointments, (in addition to good ol' sketchbooks and trades) so NOW IS THE TIME to contact me if you want to get something done. Getting down to the wire now. For those of you I've tattooed in the past, you know how I like to operate-- we work out the design in advance, get the size, scale, all that hammered out, I quote a price, and then when it's con time, your stencil's ready to go. In and out. That is my preferred modus operandi.
Let it be known, I don't like doing walk-up jobs, so if you know someone who wants ink, let them know about this journal. Last thing I want to hear is "oh, I didn't know you'd be here, I think I want a tattoo, can you squeeze me in, design it, and apply it". Happens every year, but I'm gonna try to combat it. Spring Updates.

Spring is here! I've been handling about a dozen different things, but I figured I'd better share a little update.

So between commissions, I've been working on art for RCFM

RCFM, which is Rocket City Furmeet, coming up in May. Poster/conbook art and shirt design, as well as badges! The staff is helping foot the bill for me get there, but the overall cost of the trip's still up in the air, so in that regard, if anyone's feeling at all charitable, I'd totally appreciate it. If you haven't registered yet for RCFM, by the way, do so at RCFM.net!

Anthrocon 2012 will be not too far behind that, and I will be there and tattooing/sketchbooking. Let me repeat that for those whom it is relevant to.

"Davy and I grew up together and shared in the unique success of what became The Monkees phenomena. The time we worked together and had together is something I'll never forget. He was the brother I never had and this leaves a gigantic hole in my heart. The memories have and will last a lifetime. My condolences go out to his family."

"It is with great sadness that I reflect on the sudden passing of my long-time friend and fellow-adventurer, David Jones. His talent will be much missed; his gifts will be with us always. My deepest sympathy to [his wife] Jessica and the rest of his family.

I think Mike Nesmith said it best, though:
"So many lovely and heartfelt messages of condolence and sympathy, I don't know what to say, except my sincere thank you to all. I share and appreciate your feelings, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

While it is jarring, and sometimes seems unjust, or strange, this transition we call dying and death is a constant in the mortal experience that we know almost nothing about.

I am of the mind that it is a transition and I carry with me a certainty of the continuity of existence. While I don't exactly know what happens in these times, there is an ongoing sense of life that reaches in my mind out far beyond the near horizons of mortality and into the reaches of infinity.

That David has stepped beyond my view causes me the sadness that it does many of you. I will miss him, but I won't abandon him to mortality. I will think of him as existing within the animating life that insures existence. I will think of him and his family with that gentle regard in spite of all the contrary appearances on the mortal plane. David's spirit and soul live well in my heart, among all the lovely people, who remember with me the good times, and the healing times, that were created for so many, including us.

"I have fond memories. I wish him safe travels."

On a personal level, I grew up with The Monkees on early 80's Nickelodeon, and still listen to their tunes today. There goes yet another part of my childhood. But alas. Death is a part of life.

Still daydream believing.

Jurassic Classics 3: TIME TRAVEL

Well, last night, Scully and I happened upon a plastic crate of old stuff from WAY back, and much of it will be going into Scraps shortly, and then to FurBid! OLD stuff - dragons, m/m stuff from when I was trying and failing at drawing gay pics... all kinds of things! Stick around!
