About the tragedy of the Valencia floodings...
General | Posted a year agoHeyyyy... How's it going? Been a long time since I wrote a journal. I rarely write these things, really. I rarely feel like I have anything important to share.
Lately though, at least for the past week or two, something happened that shock all of Spain to the core, an event of titanic and catastrophic consequences that nobody foresaw.
On October 29th, a "cold drop" happened in Valencia, unleashing an amount of rain unlike anything that has been seen in almost a century. It is said that a year's worth of rain fell in a single day. The volume of water that fell over the city of Paiporta was so extreme that it washed away cars, buildings, bridges and people alike. The meteorological fenomenon caught everyone by surprise, people were trapped in their own homes, in their own cars, and many perished. The count of lives lost to this tragedy has been counted to 217 as of now, at least to my knowledge, and those who did survive the initial flooding have lost everything.
https://youtu.be/UvtkUjxVm7c?si=epFumVPVy2vVzCt8
The last week, the news have been bombarded with this disaster and the pain and suffering of the people that have gone through a watery hell in Valencia. Even the people who initially survived the flooding are having immense difficulty picking themselves back up. They have no drinkable water, no electricity, no food, trying to live one more day within the ruins of a waterlogged city. The torn cries for help that come from the TV whenever the news channels connect with the area is heartbreaking.
I have dug a little and, from different sources, it seems like the main causes for the catastrophe and the major loss of lives were the following three:
1) Excessive rainfall caused by the "cold drop". The Cold Drop (or DANA as they call it here) is a meteorological phenomenon in which cold air from the poles raises abnormally high in the atmosphere and interacts with the hotter humid air, causing a sudden condensation and massive amounts of rain in a very short period of time. Most people seem to relate this factor to climate change.
2) Poorly planned urbanistic construction. The city was built close to a cliff (Barranco del Pollo) through which rainwater collected further up could course and be released in the Gulf of Valencia. However, with intense rains, this section was prone to floodings, and the mother of all floodings allowed devastation to strike the town of Paiporta.
3) The flood warning was delayed. At 6 pm the water had already reached up to 1 or 2 meters in height, bursting through doors, trapping people in their cars, washing away properties and victims alike... And at 8 pm, two hours later, is when the alert was issued to the population. The warning came way too late when the situation was far beyond any control. The government severely underestimated the risks and the situation, and by the time they realized their mistake it was already too late. If they had issued a warning sooner and had taken the weather reports more seriously, the amount of deaths would have been reduced a great deal...
After the tragedy took place, the army has been deployed and countless of people from within the country and abroad have offered themselves as voluntaries to help assist the victims, donating food and helping in the rescue efforts. However, from what I've seen, politics are getting kind of in the way and it makes it really hard for help to reach everyone, as not everyone seems to be allowed or given permission to assist, something that personally boggles me. In such an extraordinary situation, I would say it's worth taking extraordinary measures and accept all the help that you can get, but that's just me.
I am personally unable to (I'm about as broke as they come), but if someone trully wishes to aid those in need after such a catastrophe, I'll leave a link down here to the emergency gofundme for Valencia:
https://www.gofundme.com/es-es/c/ac.....a-inundaciones
Sorry about rambling this much, I felt like I needed to let some of these things out, let it off my chest, put it out there and let people know what's going on...
Just uhh... Take care, everyone. Stay safe, ok?
And also, sorry about the elections stuff. I guess we all have our own tragedies, huh?

You can find me there over at: https://itaku.ee/profile/fmlmf
Feel free to drop by there and say hi! I dunno how active I'll be there yet, but for now it's there.

Update on how things have been going on my end.
General | Posted 4 years agoMan, it's been forever since I last wrote a journal in here, hasn't it? A handful of years since I opened up a bit here in FA. I don't even know where to start... Let's see...
I guess we should start with my degree. I finally finished studying it, and am officially a mathematician. Woo! Finally finishing that degree sure felt good. It was as if I had been relieved of a huge weight on my shoulders. After finishing that degree, I went back to Gran Canaria to take a few months off and rest for a bit, although when December came, we started making plans on my next move.
I traveled to the UK, trying to look for a good spot to settle temporarily while I found a university to study a Master's degree to complement my Maths degree, although soon I found a bit of a problem in the form of me not having an adequate certificate proving my level of English. So! I studied for a few months for the IELTS test and in the end I got a pretty solid score of 8/9. Now with that I could get into a university, hopefully. During this time, my mother had begun a new project all the way across the pond, in Colombia, no less. She wanted to build a hotel of her own. I was looking about for a university to study my Master's degree, as well as a job to help myself stay sustained while I searched, and between one thing and another... Well... The Covid crisis came back in 2020.
I couldn't find a job nor a uni then, had to stay indoors for a long time, crossing my fingers hoping that whatever money I had remaining would see me through. My mom and family had their own money problems too, so I couldn't get as much assistance as I would have liked. Eventually after some time, and once the border opened up again, we managed to save up enough money to book a flight back to Gran Canaria.
I thought things would be better there, but... They really weren't. There was a ton of unemployment in that island, specially considering the fact that the main economic engine of the Canary Islands is the tourism. And Covid kinda killed tourism, so... Plenty of people lost their jobs and closed down their businesses. I tried to look online for an employment and didn't find anything. I tried signing up as an employment seeker in (I believe was a government building?) but those didn't have the kind of employments I could do. They asked for a lot of nurses, and I'm sure as heck not a nurse. So... After a couple of months like this, eventually my mother lost her patience and told me to go to Colombia to help her out with her project.
The hotel is a bit of a rural-like building, one single floor, with the rooms spanning across a corridor that goes around the pool area. It's kinda pretty. It used to be a pretty old building in ruins at first, maybe about 50-80 years old. It got remodeled and renewed, turning it into a hotel in the span of one year. It was a costly project, more so in the middle of the Covid crisis, but it was mostly finished by the time I reached the country.
I arrived to Colombia a bit over a year ago, and being here has been... A constant struggle, to say the least. Workers not building stuff correctly, things getting broken, or lost, or not properly designed... Ever seen a shower or a bathroom sink without a drain? Me neither until I got here. Some of the people that have worked here were less than honest, and fixing those mistakes has costed us even more money. Eventually, the place was finally up and running! Although... It ran awfully slow, all things considered. If normal hotels were already struggling with the lack of people coming over, imagine a brand new hotel that nobody knew existed to begin with.
We've started to pick up now though! Surely we've had plenty of ups and downs over here, and over the last year I've been working as a receptionist in the hotel, the only one so far, and the one and only person to speak fluent English, which is a shame because 90% of our clients only speak English and don't know a lick of Spanish. And this is where I am now! Just giving a hand here and there whenever I can like some kind of assistant manager, trying my best to patch whatever hole I can find.
So there we go. In case anyone's been wondering how it has been for me as of late, there's an update for those interested.
Stay safe out there!

Birthday fox
General | Posted 9 years agoYesterday I bought my food and got my presents ready for today. It'll be a calm birthday, for the most part. I'll relax, play some games, watch TV, blow on the candles and eat some cake after lunch. I'll also go to have dinner at McDonalds and go to the cinema afterwards. Maybe I'll watch Zootopia at home once I return. X3
Back to rutine.
General | Posted 9 years agoI am finally back from spending my summer with my family back in Gran Canaria. I'm a bit tired from the long trip and it's now 0:40 here. It's also rather hot here as well.
I'm feeling a bit sad that my vacations are over, but it's always the same. I'll get over it within the next week. anyway, time to start getting ready for the new year, buy new notebooks, make a new class schedule and so forth. If I am extremely lucky and I pass everything this year, it may be the last year of career. Yay.

Happy news. :3
General | Posted 10 years agoI passed all of my subjects this semester, so I am now officially in my summer vacation.
That means I get to go to spend my holidays with my family in Canary Islands a bit sooner. I'll take the plane tomorrow. It's going to be a long day, but I'll be chilling in my granny's home at this hour tomorrow... Or in my mom's place, depending on how things go. =w=

Offline for a week
General | Posted 10 years agoSo since I cannot keep up with my studies while I have access to the internet, I will have to cut all sort of connections and stop using most technology for the next week or so. That way I should be able to focus 100% on my studies. Wish me luck and see you in June the 9th.
Little hiatus for a few weeks
General | Posted 10 years agoThis month, May, is a month where all of my homework, tests and the beginning of the final exams are all concentrated in. As such, I won't have much time to fool around, RP and such. Hopefully I'll get through it all, but I'll need a lot of work, which takes away my spare time. =w=;
Wish me luck here if you want or send me a note and such.
This is going to suuuuuck...

Just returned from the cinema tonight.
General | Posted 10 years agoI saw the film Zootopia and it was really awesome. I loved every bit of it. @w@
Might be the only film I've ever considered going to watch more than once on the cinema.
Seriously, guys. Go watch the film whenever you can. It's so worth it. Yush! ^w^

Upcoming exams (personal journal)
General | Posted 10 years agoWelp... Back to work after some wonderful vacation. I have 3 tests in the upcoming weeks, so don't be surprised if I don't pop into chat often as of late. First one will be this friday, which leaves me about 2-3 days to get it ready. Next one will be the monday after that and the 3rd will be the 21st. Lots of things to study and do before taking those, so I will be mostly super busy. With a bit of luck, I'll pass most of the stuff. If not, I'll have another chance on February. Wish me luck. :P
Character list (updatable)
General | Posted 10 years agoHere I'll be putting my character list, to keep things organized. owo
Philos the Fox: My main sona. An anthro fox with a tailmaw (named Demise) and the powers of an angel of creation, though he doesn't use them often. He's mostly a nice guy, though sometimes a real tease and kinda mischievous. Can have many different forms.
Latheron Detiphigos: A big and friendly dragonite which works as a delivery pokemon. He has suffered an accident and now his body has become a singularity, making his insides a hammerspace.
Blazer Coaldust: A typhlosion and one of Latheron's friends. He was too close when the dragonite had the accident, thus giving his body hammerspace properties as well. He's quite bigger than a normal typhlosion.
Demon Fox Amai: Philos's daughter. She has impressive powers and is quite the beauty, a white 10-tailed kitsune and a god of beauty and lust. She's usually sweet, but approach at your own risk. She likes to toy with her friends pretty often.
Epsilon the Goo Fox: A goo creature that was created by Philos when he was experimenting with his powers. Quite mischievous and usually keeps the form of his creator, though he can change forms at will. Most of his abilities are unknown. Approach at your own risk.
Lucy Minario: Big shemale lucario. Huge tease, usually dominant and loves to toy with people to have fun. Approach at your own risk.
Feurety the Reshiram: Herm reshiram. Very sweet and motherly. Warm and soft fur, perfect for snuggles.
Zaphiros Rothelok: Natural prankster, a zoroark with quite the mischievous streak. Uses his illusions to trick and play pranks on friends and others around. Approach at your own risk.
Flammie Strikewing: An old friend of Philos. Very beautiful and gentle, loving and affectionately. She's someone very close and important for the fox.
Kojiti Nikitak: A Nikitak named Kojiti (or Jik for short). He runs a workshop where he builds and sells interesting things to his customers.
56 Demon Foxes Pack: The rest of Philos's kids. Don't ask... Approach at your own risk.
Asher Sparkleton: An anthro sylveon femboy who is a rather close friend of Philos. Both he and the fox run a bakery. He's a very talented baker and cooks a delicious bread. He has the habbit of teasing a lot and seducing others. Most of the time, if he's trying to seduce someone, they're going to turn into the sylveon's food.
Duster the Suicune: A big feral suicune which packs a rather large package. He is hyper by default, but can have normal genitals as well. Quite naughty and playful, as well as friendly and confident.
Helena Mavro: A chubby demon in the shape of a female floatzel. Very naughty and has some interesting powers to use on her preys and her toys. My most dominant character so far.
Cynthia Circe: A long, thick female naga with 4 arms and some psychic abilities.
Attis Tropalos: Cute and shy c-boy mienshao who runs a clothes shop in a mall. He is also a designer and a taylor. He's the counterpart of Helena, which means he's my most submissive character.
Gable the Goia: Zorgoia character who lives in a forest. Loves to tease, but is mostly kind.
Mybpho Barnet: Chef and owner of a restaurant. A bit short tempered, but rather friendly when he is in a good mood. He likes to experiment with new recipes.
Darcy the Raichu: A demonic raichu, Helena's rival. He's dominant and powerful. While Helena is more subtle, teasing and seductive, Darcy is much more straight-forward. He's short tempered, so it's better not to search troubles with him.
Carys Ember: A charizard lady who works in the same police station as Blazer. She has some problems when it comes to discipline and professionalism though, often doing things she's not supposed to do. However, since everyone in that station is like a big family, people tend to cope with her. She dislikes corrupt cops greatly.
Dian the Milotic: A milotic enchantress that has a job in Attis' shop, putting enchantments, spells and charms on the clothes some customers want. Anywhere from luck charms to elemental resistance and other effects may be applied to your favorite piece of clothing for the right price.
Garrick the Goodra: A charming and innocent goodra who works in the local SPA as a massage therapist among other things.
Aven Dustcloud: An adventurer flygon and takes pleasure in the joys of discovery. He lives great adventures in search of treasures and secrets, as well as share his experiences in his favorite bar with his friends.
Lorcan the Arcanine: A big and strong anthro arcanine who works building, creating and selling weapons, armor and other articles for battling and hunting. He's a nice guy, but has a rather short fuse. It's best not to anger him if it can be avoided.
Ravana the Hydreigon: An evil, power-hungry hydreigon who lives in the deep forest near town. He considers other beings as mere tools, playthings or just plain food. He's always looking for ways to gain power, as well as ways of showing off his dominance over other beings he considers inferior.
Kairos the Greninja: A mercenary and a bounty hunter among other things. He takes short jobs for a price. If the pay is good, he'll do it whatever they may be (Within reason. Suicide missions don't peak his interest). He has a rather cold attitude and lacks any sense of touch and gentleness in a conversation. He says what he has to say straight and without beating around the bush.
Naos the Lugia: A lugia that works in town as a transporter. His services range from transporting heavy items to large amounts of people through long distances. He's a gentle giant, always treating with care the smaller creatures around him, be it friends, clients or nice people in general.
Dr. Bernard Morton: A grumpy zangoose that is a trauma surgeon working at the local hospital. His extremely sharp claws can be used as scalpels when he needs to operate patients.
Erik the Giratina: A titanic giratina that rules over his own Distortion World as he pleases, where everything bends to his will and logic and nature laws are merely an option. Sometimes when you're looking at your own reflection in the mirror or in a puddle of water, you're not the only one looking...
Kyle Minario: Lucy's adoptive little brother. He's an oddball. Restless, hyperactive, shameless and kinda crazy and excentric. He's a bit unpredictable at times.
Anna Springs: A happy, cheerful female mew who loves to have fun all the time. Most of the time she's rather innocent, but she sometimes doesn't realize that her playing partners aren't completely willing.
Daisy the Awe: A gentle and caring awe that helps the wounded in the infirmary treating the wounded members of the Admiralty. Enjoys putting her pouch to good use.
Iden the Mimic: A greedy hungry creature that uses stealth and camouflage to capture its preys. A bit rough at first, but has a playful side to it.
Seline the Otter Genie: An otter who also happens to be a genie. She has been freed by an old love and now spends her time exploring the world, perhaps looking for a place to settle. She's kind for the most part, but has a mischievous streak. Make sure to word your wishes carefully around this one!
Simon the Serperior: Simon is a peculiar serperior that works in Lucy's gym as a barista, selling healthy snacks, isotonic drinks and the likes for whoever needs a quick fix before, during or after training! He has a lemon & lime scent for some reason.
Natalie Cloverfield, the lucario/cinderace hyrbid: Natalie is a sportswoman at heart. She is highly athletic and agile, and very competitive, though she can sometimes be a sore loser! Never one to back down from a challenge.
Quillian Coalflare, the quilava: A baker-in-training under Philos and Asher. Recently new member of the staff. Young and energetic, but can sometimes be a bit cocky and confident!
Admiral August Simmons: A floatzel who is an admiral of the Rockshore fleet. Serious and strict, but he's a leader with a good heart.
Hartley the renamon: A digimon streamer that plays games and interacts with them from within, bringing a fresh new experience and perspective to the gaming community. Charismatic, fun, casual and easy-going with a playful side.
That's it for now. Will probably be adding/updating more stuff as time goes on. Feel free to pic your favorite. X3

Back home for another year.
General | Posted 10 years agoI am back to my room. Damn, I thought it was cleaner last time I checked... It's all a total mess. I'll have to clean stuff as soon as I get the chance to... Also, the room feels... A bit smaller than I remembered as well. I dunno if everything I have brought home will fit somewhere. We'll see.
I threw away all of the stuff that could get rotten before I went to enjoy my summer vacation, but I think I'll throw away other stuff now that I think about it. rand new stuff and food. I'll mostly keep things like Pasta, frozen stuff and canned food. Aside from that, I'll need to restock.
I'll also need to buy some materials for classes, like notebooks and the like. I might have to make some sort of task list with all these... But for now I want to rest and have lunch. I'm hungry and tired and jet lag is going to be a real bother. I gotta make sure I'm ready for what's about to come...
Also, if you think I'm feeling down by the way I'm putting things... Don't worry. It's called "post-vacation depression". It's normal and it'll go off after a week or two. I've had that every year now. :P

Packing things up to travel back to Spain.
General | Posted 10 years agoSo I will be leaving back to Spain tomorrow in the aftrnoon... Yeah, summer is officially over for me.
I've had good moments and bad moments here with my mom in Panama. It's been quite the experience, but it's finally time to get back to university and get to work.
We're all a bit depressed about it, as usual... Post vacation depression tends to happen every year. It feels almost like a tradition by now. =w=;
Mom is also under a lot of stress due to the amount of work she needs to do. She is also pretty sick, so I try to help her in any way I can to make her feel better. I just hope she gets better.
While packing up, I've gone through a lot of old stuff... You know, the kind of stuff one would consider their personal relics from the past, nostalgic memories... Old games I spent hundreds of hours playing in my teens, photos of journeys I've done while being in a summer camp with other kids, albums of pictures of the friends I made in high school, presents some people gave me in the past... Man, those were the good old times. =w=
It's a strange kind of joy to relive those precious memories... Like a bittersweet taste of the times you so enjoyed and are able to relive briefly inside of your mind, but sadly those good times passed. Still, it's sort of good for the heart to stop for a moment and look back to where you came from. The past that defined you is right there and you may find interesting or joyfull to watch how things happened back then. Keep those valuable memories deep inside of you, because they will be one of your most deared treasures. ^w^

Finally in my mom's home.
General | Posted 10 years agoThe journey was long and tiring, but I'm finally here. :3
I'm in my mom's house and I can chill and play games. =w=
Next problem will be fighting the jet lag, but I'll be fine. Tomorrow we'll go to the cinema.
I guess this will be a good summer~

Traveling to Panama for the next 2 days.
General | Posted 11 years agoI'm getting the last preparations for my travel. I'll be going to take a train, then the subway until I reach the hotel. I'll stay there for the night and take a flight by morning... an 11 hour flight... Boy, this will be... Ugh... I hate traveling... Specially super long travels. Either way, at least I'll get to spend some time with my mom in Panama. I have no idea how things will work out once I get there. My mom moved house again. :P
Man, my mom had a different house each time I visited her... She's someone who can't stay still... =w=;
Whatever. She said things are working and stuff has been installed, such as TV and (I hope) wifi.
I might get online for a while at night from the hotel's wifi. It's kinda early yet though. I have 7 hours left to get some things ready. I may shave and such while I still can, getting the laundry done, get money from the bank... Stuff...
So... I'll be kinda busy these next 2 days... That and the jet lag... Yeah... I don't like long journeys. They make the cute little fox tiiiired~
Anyway, see you guys around.
Update: Good morning. I slept rather well in the hotel. I was awakened at around 7 so I could prepare and have breakfast before the bus took me to the airport at 8. That way I could be there easily and get the boarding pass before 9. I got through the security control easily, which took me less than 10 minutes. Now I'm waiting until I take my 11-hour flight at around 12. Talk about a linear progression... X3
