First Journal Entry: About Me

I'd like to say I'm a pretty ordinary furry, but that wouldn't be fully accurate. I started my fan life in the anime fandom, but was ultimately unsatisfied with where things were going, so I left. Now, about 20 years later, here I am actually admitting that I'm a furry when I've probably been one all my life. I've missed out on a lot. I remember when the big deal was the "burned furs" and I thought the fandom was going to come apart. Now it seems like furry culture is approaching mainstream, for good or ill.
Uncle Kage once said (I paraphrase): if furries ran the world, we would not fight each other so much. I think he said that after sitting down at Eurofurence with furries from all over the world. I feel a sense of empathy within the furry fandom that is not seen to the same degree elsewhere. There's always some drama, but it's not the stuff you start a war over... usually.
