Of course I can't help but be skeptical. I hope for their sake they don't fuck this up. I mean... they've tried everything else as of late, and it all sucked ass. Even if they pull this off, and it's a great game, I wonder how many people will bother playing it anyway.

I'm not, I like very few games really, and get bored easily, I don't like hard games so I end up cheating (though only enough to adjust the difficulty curve). and I don't read for recreation so I don't bother with gaming mags or publications.

Todavía no cantes victoria. Muchos juegos 2D de Sonic (los últimos de las portatiles) no han sido precisamente una grata experiencia. El único que se salva y por muy poco es el Sonic Advance 1.

No se tú, pero a mi parecer, no es el motor gráfico lo que convierte un juego en un verdadero clásico. Creo que deberían volver a la escuela antigua en ese aspecto.

From the trailer it looks like it will be more along the lines of a 2.5D game.

If anything, they should go back to the old, sprite-based 2D system like Capcom did with Mega Man 9.

I'm a Sonic fan, Been one since I got my genesis with Sonic 1 in 92-93.
I honestly dont see what the big deal is. 'He returned to his roots' okay, why is that such a big deal? I loved Sonic Heroes so why is everyone slamming the 3D Sonic games? I dont get it and probobly never will. All this tells me is a new Sonic game is coming out, better add it to my list of games to get.

I'm with ya, guy. To be honest, I just think people are too conservative(for lack of a better word)to see the good in the 3D games, let alone give them a chance. I'm not saying the new games were super awesome, but that's not to say that all of them were trashy. Sometimes you need to go with change. I probably sound too lenient, but those are my two cents. :/

After screwing up all the previous console games I have lost all faith in Sonic Team to ever create a REALLY GOOD Sonic Game. The majority of the hand-helds were ok.

Did you see the trailer of Sonic and sega all stars racing? That's how screwed up Sonic team really is.

They spoke to one of the game programers about that. they experamented with leaving not just sonic but another character named beat out of a car. due to game mechanics though he would be too fast. here's the interview http://360.kombo.com/article.php?artid=17134

Yeah I'm reserving judgement. Just because you have a good teaser doesnt mean your game will make cash fall from the sky. So I'll wait till I see screenshots, dev interviews and an actual review. Sonic has been doing worse and worse since Shadow so if it can revie him more power to Sega...if not just more of the same.

Eh, I often play my Megadrive (aka Genesis). Love the Sonic games. But I haven't really bothered with any of the 3d games at all, so I don't really know. I thought the idea of a 3d Sonic was weird, so I just never tried. This may be interesting though, we will see.

And if not, I'll just continue playing the Megadrive :P

I doubt very much that this will be a DVD release. It'll more than likely be an XBLA game. Cheap and cheerful that won't sell massively.

Also likely to capture the idea of a retro Sonic game...then ruin it by adding some dumb gameplay mechanic no-one asked for.

well like the RPG (which I think was ruined due to Sega forcing their horrible characters into the game for Bioware, still decent though.) lets just hope for the best and keep our expectations so low that even a mediocre game may be accepted.

Everyone knows that the Sonic Games peaked at Adventure 2. Heroes was the decline. The handhelds have stayed steady of course. Hopefully, this will be good.

They've proven that they CAN make a competent sonic game (Sonic Unleashed minus the Were-Hog stages...) so I have pretty high hopes for this. I mean Sonic Rush turned out awesome.

Sonic Adventure was the only really fun 3D game. Being fast in 3D is hard, but my most favourite Sonic game of all time will forever be Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles.

Sonic Unleashed and Black Knight were both damn good. And I've always liked the Rush games. I honestly don't see what everyone's problem with the Werehog is. I didn't mind it, and actually enjoyed the levels.
