Hurricane Harvey

Just an update on the progression of the storm as I'm living through my first ever hurricane.
We were told not to leave by the Mayor, I couldn't leave because the hospital was not evacuating and they need people to staff and help support the influx of people that are coming from the storm.
The flooding is bad. I've never seen water this high before. It took out my car and flooded my roommate's car as well. The rain is still coming as the storm is stalled out on top of the city. We're holed up in the house while the river that is our street grows outside.
I got a call from the hospital for employees to come in because the emergency department is overflowing with patients. I have no ride and the buses aren't running, so I will be hiking to the hospital. Luckily it's only three and a half miles. They're going to have me spend the night with the possibility of staying more.
This is crazy though. I am lucky the flood waters haven't reached the house, though and I am thankful for that. A person in our community had to be rescued as his house and car were totally underwater.
This is going to be an interesting few days as the storm continues to dump torrential rain on us and cause non-stop flood watches and warnings.

Best of luck to you and be carefu. I'm sorry that I can't offer you more but you're in my thoughts. Here's hoping the worst of it is over and everything will work out okay.
