Where's the love for Ratchet & Clank?? For a community that lost their minds over Zootopia (granted, a worthy reason) I haven't seen any comments, art, or posts about groups gathering to go see this movie. Especially with all the gamers in the fandom this kinda surprised me. But anyway, I saw it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it! The critics seemed to not agree but eff them. :D Not the most original plot and animation isn't on the same level with Zootopia of course, but still it had really fun characters, plenty of "lol" moments, beautiful designs (especially the ships and city/background) and a lot of good references, especially if you're a fan of the game. So anyway, I think it's worth checking out!
FA+

Still wanna see the movie sometime.
Zootopia is just eye candy for the furries and lewd imagination sadly X3 But this is truly for the fans!
Ratchet and clank,Sly Cooper and Jak were like the best games on the PS2 back then and still now.
Did love the joke with Dax and Sly, and I pray we still get the Sly Cooper movie if this one does bad, cause I was one of 3 in the theater watching this and that does not bode well for the movie.
The good points:
- Ratchet is adorably cute! Thankfully, because they made a LOT of use of his fuzzy face in extreme closeup throughout the flick. Wuff wanted to "boop" that cute nose more than once.
- Lovely ship, city, and building models throughout.
- Lifted all the key weapons from the game, rather faithfully.
- A few fun little 'bits', like the quick easter eggs of Dax and Sly Cooper.
- Sly Stallone voicing a rather appropriate character.
- Pretty good, smooth character animation for all of the characters.
- Quite a few "furries" among the cast and extras.
- Thank heavens for no bathroom humor.
But it was very much a kid's movie, without a lot of the appeal that Zootopia had for adults.
- Over-The-Top "Melodrama" style acting and voicing.
- Very forced humor, for the most part.
- Obligatory sequences just to point out the 3D effects (the old, tired, "yo-yo in the audiences face" trick, with a buzz saw, and others)
- Obvious plot is obvious! A blow-up kiddie wading pool has far more depth! Not even any attempts at surprises or plot twists from a very tired template.
- So. Many. Cliched. Characters! Nerdy scientist is always ignored. Jock hero is 5 parsecs beyond dumb! Etc.
But the worst part, for this wuff, was the lack of "soul" to the characters. Even (especially?) for Ratchet. Wuff never felt any real attachment growing between him and any other character. He idolized them. Wanted to join them. But never seemed to bond with any of them - even Clank.
In the end, after all they've gone through, he just walks calmly away from them all, including Clank. And does it TWICE in the movie! Forcing Clank to come after him, but even when Clank does, Ratchet doesn't seem particularly thrilled to see him. Just a, "Hi buddy! What are you doing here?" kind of reaction.
So, yes, a lot of flashy action, great models, very good cgi, and a few chuckle moments. And pretty true to the game. But definitely one movie this wuff would put on the "wait for the free netflix version" category, unless you're a major fan, want the character references for your art, or are under ~12 years old.
Apparently the cut scenes from the game were spliced together to make the movie. o.O At least that's what someone above was mentioning, I haven't really looked that up myself just yet. And still, I hope this doesn't dissuade them from going ahead with Sly Cooper!
