The Thousand-Year Curse

The first curse came with the dawn of a new age. A time when witches came into being and seized power from society. As it happened, magic was a privilege exclusive to females. Some were peaceful, generous, noble; others were destructive, vengeful, selfish. They frightened the rest of mankind who remained powerless against their whims and mercies. Hence the witches established a council: the New Order, composed of their most accomplished and came to an agreement with the humans that no curse will ever befall them if they promised to never interfere with their matters. Any who violated the agreement would be cast out by both sides. But the greed of mankind knew no bounds. Witches were few and far between. Even amongst their numbers, only half had enough power to protect themselves should others mean them harm.

Then came the creation of VeSouls: dwarf-sized vessels that were the Witches' newest creation. Those who mistreat Witches will no longer hold the right to remain human. A thousand-year curse would bind their souls to a vessel until their real bodies decay beyond recognition. The existence of such vessels were kept with utmost secrecy, and mankind was none the wiser. To the ignorant, the Witches had only gained a new category of familiars; but to those who dared violate the good will or limited patience of the New Order, they would soon learn to fear their ire.

Origin

-VeSoul is pronounced as "Vessel", and has the combined spelling of "Vessel" and "Soul".
-All VeSouls are made by the New Order and summoned by Witches should they ever find themselves in danger, or in need of making a particular human disappear for a long, long time.
-Each VeSoul has a 6-digit serial number which could be seen by shining a bright light into their eyes and looking in closely. Actions of the VeSoul are automatically recorded in a magical database, tracking their every move.

Characteristics

Eyes

VeSouls' eyes are an array of different colors. Their pupils have 3 different conformations. Normal (vertical), aggressive (cross), tired/content (horizontal). VeSouls are unable to shed tears, they don't need to blink or rest, but can do both if they wish.

Horns

Their horns are in the shape of a crown at the back of their heads. The way it grows out may differ, but commonly, they would only have one set that resembles a goat/ram.

Tails

The most common forms are short and long tails (first two down below). More uncommonly, a cloak-shaped tail that might resemble a bird's.


As VeSouls are artificially created by the New Order. Their appearances may differ from the "standard issue" described above. However, there are characteristics that all share.

-Height (All are 3'0" tall)
-Incapable of speech (They're only capable of making "Maooo"ing sounds).
-Soft and bouncy (When they fall they just bounce)
-Auto-recovery (If they get tattered and hurt, they will self-repair)

Allowances

If you're a VeSoul, chances are-- you're never going to see or be in your body ever again. The New Order, however, has an Allowance policy to encourage good behavior from their creations. Do enough good deeds, and they temporarily allow you to change into human form for a certain amount of time everyday. The allotted time could increase until one can maintain the form for the majority of their day. Is it worth it though--- to become a slave to your oppressors just to be human again?

-The human form is not the original appearance of the person.
-The human form will still have pupils and horns of the VeSoul.

Misc. Info

-You cannot tell the gender of the person contained within a VeSoul by outer appearance. It's said that female VeSouls have a more high-pitched "Mao" though.
-Most VeSouls are male... for various reasons...
-VeSouls may choose to serve a Witch or wander off to find their own way. Most don't work under the Witch they received the curse from, but act as Familiars to another that's willing to take it in.
-They lack the ability to cause harm. The moment such thought cross their minds, they are instantly paralyzed.
