Just a few things I'd like to say:
1) All my work, unless stated otherwise, is given to you as Creative Commons By-NC-ND. And the ND is negotiable. I'm a fan of free culture, as well as open source.
2) All things being equal, I aim to put any money I make on commissions back into the furry artscape. Exactly how is up to me, but I don't plan on ever relying on it as an income. I know how to manage my finances.
3) To the peeps that hit my +watch button: Thanks! And hello! I don't really do the thank-shout thing anymore, too copy/pasta and impersonal for my taste, but I do check out all your userpages.
4) And to all the peeps that hit the -watch button... well I never really liked them, anyway. :P

Carry on.

Some of the thanks I give may be similiar, but personally I still type each one by hand. Old fashioned I guess. :D
I don't really need to sound original, because I want all my watchers to know they're equally valued. Just because I've said something before doesn't make it any less valid. :)
Then again, I am the eternal optimist. :D
2) Yup. Use your hobby to finance itself. I'm just the same way. I buy render nodes. Maybe you can put the money towards a new program, or perhaps even a graphics tablet?
3) I copypasta'd, but with the sneaky, underhanded tactic of putting the person's name in the shout to make it look personal. I suppose it did motivate me to look at their page. The novelty wears off though. I don't think anyone needs to worry about whether or not they are thanked for watching, because although you feel indebted due to having your ego stroked, they did it for their own good - it's essentially a bookmark stored on a site. Same with favourites. Comments are a lot more generous of them, by contrast. Shame of their rarity.
4) Good riddance! Have you ever gained a watch only to have it taken away mere minutes after? Makes me wonder what goes through their heads. Sometimes I watch a person to "bookmark" them provisionally. Then I later look through the gallery. If they have a decent amount of what I want (I like to cut down on the crap) then I keep watching.
3) Agree. Comments are great, though I can understand why they are a relative rarity.
And it's interesting, I really doubt anyone could've predicted beforehand how most people would use (abuse?) the individualised shoutboxes, with multitudes of thanks. Not being denigrating of the practice per-se, just making an observation.
4) It's happened to me, like, once, maybe twice. I'm all "Ooh goodie another watch!" and then "Oh. Well, fine then."
I trawl through an artists entire gallery
looking for pornassessing their work before I watch them. If I spy an artist that might be interesting, but don't have time, then I might actually bookmark them in my browser before, like a "To do".*Ponders plagiarising your watchlist because mine's clearly not big enough already.*
I sometimes wonder if I'm watching too many people. Probably not, but I like to keep up with my inbox, and it gets hard to do that during the week. I really wonder how on earth (or if) those people watching thousands of artists keep up.
So, how did you manage to keep up with that many? Or did you?
My excuse is that I'm running myself ragged between my day job and the crafting of furry stuff.
