I need someone to explain something for me

What the hell is a master/pet relationship? I ask because I've had several people approach me recently and ask me to be their pet. There is an FYI section on my page that clearly states that I'm not interested in that, and that I almost never RP, so even if I said yes, it would be meaningless, but let's just forget that. Every time someone asks me, I say no. They ask why. I bring up my usual litany of objections, which they somehow always manage to have a workaround for. I say that I don't like taking orders or being subservient/submissive. They say I don't have to be to be their pet. I say I won't be calling anybody "master," again they say it's not necessary. I say that I won't fetch things, eat treats from their hands, or be sitting by the door with my tail wagging, they say I don't need to. I then ask them what would make me a pet. They say someone to be there for them to make them feel better. SO WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PET AND A FRIEND? Do furries just have some compulsive need to enter into unnecessarily complicated relationships that they make shit up as they go along, or were these people so desperate to have me be their "pet" that they twisted and warped the definition just to get me to say yes? Someone please explain.

In all honesty, I think they are confused themselves as it sounds they themselves are looking for an Owner to be there for them and care for them.
I will say, that the bond that is shared between an Owner and pet / slave is going to be stronger than any bond you could think of. The closeness, trust and mutual respect goes far beyond that of a normal friend or even a best buddy. So in that regard I can credit the person with understanding that aspect, but, an owner has the rights to command the pet / slave to do whatever he or she desires. With that mutual respect, you trust in the other completely that they won't do something that you aren't willing to do.
This bond often takes years to fully develop, but when it does happen, you know that the person is 'the one' and that you will follow their lead no matter what life brings your way.
Many seem to believe it's solely for the act of submission / domination and that its BDSM sexual play. It's anything but, my irl Mistress and I do not sexual interact as she is married and has kids. I do not beg, ask or even try to force ideals into her head about such things. I obey, serve and I even worship her and it makes me happy just knowing that she is there for me when the world sometimes feels it's against me.
I love the feeling of just being needed and that my efforts are actually received with kindness. She makes me feel whole, complete and inspires me to go further and beyond with my life.
I'm also a switch and I too have pets / slaves under my heel. Carrying with that the same traditions that are the true bonds from being an owner. I do not desire to force people to do things they don't wish to do and I don't pester those I care for, for their attention on a daily basis. They know who their owner is and they still call me Mistress out of respect to that fact.
You, Alby, aren't a submissive person at all and thus I can't see you as a pet / slave. I know your personality quite a bit as well and it would truly clash with having to care for a pet. I don't think the Owner / slave thing is right for you at all, I think you would find it annoying and want out the first chance you could get.

I kinda just laugh at them and want to slap them at the same time, show them how a REAL owner treats a spoiled pet. Ignore them, force them to feel like they are nothing to you and give them time to think on it. Then, when they wish to come back to your good graces, you force them to do something humiliating or painfully hard... like wearing a cock sleeve to prevent an erection for a whole week.
Yeah, you can pretty much guarantee that no one who isn't true to this lifestyle will do such a task. <3
