Today I spent
over 4 hours
building the perfect character
to play with a friend on GW2
this process included:
-finding a name that was silly/inappropriate enough to be funny but also not to get banned
-figuring out which race and class I wanted
-finding out that males have THE SHITTIEST ARMOUR DESIGN and NO I cannot have a scantily-clad male character
-crying about this heinous error
-sifting through the entire armor database to find out who has the best armour
-deciding that I will make a female character and pretend it’s a crossdressing guy
-choosing the one race that has EIGHTY FUCKING COLOR OPTIONS
-crying over what colors to choose
-realizing that there is also a skin PATTERN option
-realizing this race also has a night-time glow-in-the-dark color option
-crying because give me freedom and ill make a dozen chars in twenty minutes but give me a set list of choices and I will agonize for days
-crying some more because after 30 minutes of whittling down hair options I can’t choose between the last 2
-do I give him the pretty, effeminate, long-leafed hair with the pretty flower, or the shorter hair that would be easier to draw and also has a better glow-in-the-dark pattern?
-(and how does leaf hair work - does it hurt if you, say, pierce a leaf to clip jewelry on it?)
-crying because now that all the colors and patterns and hair choices are made I realize there are still 512 face customization sliders
-plus choosing an eye color
-their eyes also glow in the dark so I have to take THAT into account too
-crying with laughter as I zoom out and realize my flat-chested lady model looks like a skinny asian guy
-he’s kind of hot actually
-even if his skin is dayglo-icing-pink
-crying again as I realize that 90% of the male characters I make, in or out of games, end up asian and/or effeminate
-shrugging and carrying on with making this the prettiest crossdressing boy you ever did see
-crying because armour dyes
-etc
You bet your ass that after all that effort there is going to be art of this asshole (and his partner)
(who has a name that sounds like it came straight from Bad Dragon)
IN CONCLUSION:
I have spent roughly 5 hours for the sake of a vague reference almost no one will get and a dick joke.
