With the release of patch 12.5, they began adding in more players into the online multiplayer portion of arena commander. Yesterday they allowed every backer access to multiplayer.
There are some server issues that have cropped up, but with a huge surge of new players putting stress on the server, that's to be expected.

And nice flying! (I'm sure hitting that asteroid was entirely planned, to dodge that last missile.) ;P
... Still, it's better flying then what I've managed in my Aurora with mouse/keyboard.
