The site redesign was announced as being planned, and new coding staff and project leads were announced.

One of the new staff was accused of committing a serious crime in his past, but the accusation fell through and he wasn't convicted of any wrong-doing.

Users started posting and commenting to others that he was, those people told other people, those people told other people, people started posting hate/accusation comments and journals, and site staff acted against the people causing trouble in accordance with the site's CoC.

Drama spiraled from there.
