The Streak is Over

Well, sports fans. We all knew this day would come sooner or later. After 3 pre-season and 5 regular season consecutive wins, the Whips met their match on Sunday, November 17th during their home game against the Texas Lone Stars. The team led a daring battle on the court, but in the end they came in just short of an overtime when TXS wiped them out 90-88. HC Paul Kruester (Male Coyote) had this to say... "I have no regrets over what happened tonight. Our guys really gave their best out there and I'm proud of each of them, especially young Friedrich Peschke (Cat, C). He's certainly making a name for himself when it comes to scoring big numbers out there."
Despite disappointment, the team banded together at the press conference after the game, putting up a small front to let the media know that all good things come to a close sooner or later. "It was all touch and go, really..." noted Mike Porter (Mallard, F/C). "We did best we could out there. Had a good strategy, but Texas' defense was equally matched. Somehow, I knew it wouldn't last. Of course, this is only the first month of the season, but that doesn't mean we will not perform less than perfect. The Whips are here to stay!" When asked how they will get through the shock of losing on their home turf, Porter wittingly replied, "Ask me that question again after we crash the Lone Stars' victory party. Drinks are on Vos." "HEY!"
So, thus ends a 5-game winning streak for SFW. Will they have enough momentum and spirit to move forward in the season? We'll know soon enough as SFW take on WPG on Tuesday, November 19th.
