Xaviera the Enigma

I'm currently working on building my first suit. Her name is Xaviera, a silver dragon. Conceptualizing her has taken quite some time, and I thought that I had figured out the perfect way to bring her to life. I made a DTD of myself, and began sewing mirror finish aluminum scales to the athletic clothes that I thought would make a good stretchy, fitted, and breathable fabric base. Boy was I wrong! The fabric is so stretchy that under the weight of the scales it sags, and I think if I finish the suit like this the fabric will either sag so much it will be ugly, or the fabric might rip altogether. So I'm back to the drawing board. This time I am planning on starting a partial suit that can be added later to a body. My resin head and pieces are already on their way from dreamvisioncreations.com, so that at least I know will start off right. I have some light weight one way stretch denim, heavier than the athletic fabric, but still nice and easy to sew through to make some paws and sleeves with. I also bought rivets for the scales to test if that might be a more efficient way of attaching them rather than sewing them on one at a time. Hopefully that will be a possible option of making better progress, right now it's taking me about 5 minutes per scale! My hope is to have a partial of her done for IFC in August, we will see how that turns out. While I can't wait to show her to the world, my first suit will definitely not be a rush job.
Well, that's all I can think of for now. If you have an opinion about my suitmaking, please keep it to constructive criticism. I am very new to officially being a part of the furry fandom, and very, very new to FA. I will try to post pics of how my scaling looks, even on just the fabric that didn't turn out to be right.
