Hey everyone! How's it going? :3
It's been quite a while since there has been any activity on here, so let's not waste any more time and get a discussion going! We're gonna have a few questions for you guys this time c:
What's your favorite brand/type of strings, for either acoustic or electric bass?
Do you use picks? Why (not)?
What made you pick up a bass for the first time?
I'll try to keep things more active around here, but for now, go ahead and have some nice discussion and debate!
Until next time~

I don't use picks. I feel like it restricts me, plus it feels extremely weird on the thick strings. :/ I move faster without a pick and all.
I idolized John Cooper from Skillet. He's the lead vocalist/bassist, for those who are unaware. It would have been an easy switch for me because I went from violin to upright bass and then to bass guitar. :3
I don't use picks, mostly since I've forgotten how to use them by now, haha. It's just easier and faster to play without one, I think.
I'm not entirely sure why I started in with bass guitar, but if I had to guess I'd say it was inspired by the music I was listening to at the time; lots of Iron Maiden, for sure. One of these days I'll get that 'Steve Harris Gallop' down. >:I
I don't use picks.
Bass just sounded like my thing. I've played electric guitar for a while and then I picked up a bass and was sold immediately.
I tried a bunch of different brands and nothing really had the feel. I prefer uncoated round wounds in Nickel or Stainless Steel.
I use a Pick, sometimes. It all depends on what type of sound I want to achieve. Picks allow for more attack and drive. Fingers are faster and smoother. Slapping is... well, slapping. Occasionally I'll punch the strings.
I originally learned guitar when I was in school. At some point I gravitated towards the bass because it seemed to be more understated. In actuality, it is part of the foundation. It turns out that I really love the feel of bass. Music flows through me naturally opposed to the guitar and its tiny-ass strings.
2. I alternate. I'll use my fingers to play a lot of songs, but faster or heavier songs I use a pick for.
3. I originally started in 2010 and decided to play bass because I didn't want to copy my brother (he plays guitar). Plus I thought bass looked easier. Of course I quit playing after half a year (don't know why) and started playing again december last year.
