Achaeopteryx is still being argumented whether it's a hoax or not. So, it's not particularly a good example to use... that aside it's unrelated to the families this is about.
Thread is here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/41184/ (well don't poke on Syrinoth, he seems cool)
OH NOES I AM A HOAX I AM NOT REAL
B.A.N.D.ITS AND THOSE CREATIONISTS HAVE KILLED MY PUBLIC IMAGE
THIS IS AN INSULT TO MY FEATHERED INTEGRITY
WHO WILL HELP ME TO RECOVER A REALITY
I WILL GO BACK TO THE JURASSIC IF IT IS LIKE THAT

Paleontological communities have their overreacting dudes also, like Stephan Pickering or JP D'Amour. Or dead horses theories a la Feduccia.
Well, when I have time I'll prepare a reply with some links.
Just, I don't think some simplistic replies are well fit to explain observations on fossils, and statements like "Archaeopteryx is a hoax" is nothing but reject of scientific evidence - and here I don't even talk about artwork.
I hate to saythis but i tought of making my own dino-bird fossil with clay.
Still, birds have feathers and scales (feet). Phylogenically, birds are reptiles BTW.
