If you haven't noticed, I was gone for about a week or so. I didn't post a journal about it because, having no internet where I went to, I didn't want to come back with a 300+ messages list mostly of comments about this. It was already 230ish just from normal submissions. Anyway to the point, my grandfather on my mother's side passed away of natural causes back on May 7 and I had to drive down, with my father and sister, to Florida . Where my grandfather lived and where my grandmother still lives, to attend his memorial service. I was also there to help my grandmother, who is well and healthy, help get her house ready for sale, prep her car for sale(inspect it for problems, detail it by hand ect. The car was perfect, 2009 Ford Fusion with 12,500 miles on it, sold to a very good friend of my grandmother's for 1K under Kelly Blue Book value for private sale. House had an offer on it two days before I left. Everything else was being handled by my mother ad was going well. My grandmother was pretty depressed before the service, but was still going about the legal items associated with a spouse passing. Now that her beloved husband of 64 years has been committed to the earth and his spirit has been lifted to heaven, she is very religious and is much better.
My grandfather lived to the age of 87. He was a school teacher for 50 years, was very active in his church with choir and driving people, who couldn't themselves, to and from church and the local grocer in the church van. Loved playing tennis, a card game called bridge and to travel. Mainly to his favorite country, Switzerland. Very kind to everyone he met. Animals were drawn to him, and he would sit and talk to you about anything and would listen to you if you had a problem. He will be greatly missed by not only my entire family, but his neighborhood, church congregation and his former students(some were at his service) as well. He meant so much to so many people.
As for me, I'm better knowing my grandmother is well and being able to see her after 3 years. Wish it were under better circumstances, but...can't really change that. The last time I saw my grandfather was also 3 years ago and I regret not going to see him sooner. I won't beat myself up about it, I know that won't change anything.
Thank you.
