There should definitely be a massive retcon/deus ex machina between the rounds so it's behaves more like a sport rather than a snuff series. X3
Just have the characters be able to recall the events, so you can pull quips like "Well, you got eaten by an anthropomorphic cake, so I don't want to hear any of your lip." and such.
