do you usually get good traffic at furbuy? i notice only \"known\" artists seem to get bids and im not really known or popular by any stretch of the means.
Some people will say "But Furbid has over 450 auctions right now, FurBuy only has 140". That's right, but keep in mind that 200 of Furbid's auctions are by ONE SELLER who has 200 Comics and DVDs on permanent recycle that never sell! Another 50-100 of the auctions at any given time are two of the comic vendors at furry cons doing the same thing. (Don't take my word, go look yourself!) Those auctions aren't generating traffic of any interest in YOUR work at all, and they're also never getting bought because those sellers aren't being seen anyway. So once you remove the 275 or so "floating items" from Furbid... How many REAL auctions do they have again? Ahhh, prolly only around 150 or so. No better than FurBuy - and FurBuy is Search Engine Optimized, using Google Analytics, and traffic-ranked with Alexa and Quantcast too. All of whom reliably say that FurBuy is getting more traffic.
From a realistic standpoint (and maybe I do more research and preponderance of this stuff than most) I feel that Furbid is on it's way out. Their site hasn't been updated in ANY way for over 4 years now, they have no developer "on staff", the site is LOADED with bugs and broken features, they have no marketing strategy, they're making people PAY for simple features that cost them nothing, and they have a non-communicative administrator who bans auctions and users willy-nilly without even sending them an e-mail explaining why. In my estimation, Noriko doesn't even want to run Furbid anymore and is just slowly killing it so he can finally say that it was a failure and wash his hands of it.
If you'd like any clarification or references for any of my points, please just ask. I'll point you to them.
i think your points have put me over the edge on that. i had not one, but TWO auctions scammed on furbid. the site owner appologised and did all they could but other than that.. i was left in the dirt even though i thought i have over 150.00 us coming to me from those auctions.
i do have one additional question which i will be noting you with shortly ^_^
As for scammers... Yeah, when I started hearing reports about scammers on Furbid, I started scrambling to get plans in place to eliminate that threat on FurBuy. And I can honestly say that we're ready and willing to deal with that issue pro-actively. We've already nailed 2 Nigerian scammers on FurBuy and put the kai-bosh on them before they were able to do any damage at all. Sadly, if you build anything that gets serious amounts of web traffic, there are plenty of people who will try to cash in on your hard work either legally or illegally, and they are things you have to consider and keep in mind. We'll do everything in our power to protect you from those elements, but keep in mind that they ALWAYS manage to slip through now and then. =/
So, let me know what's wrong and I'll help you through it or we'll get it fixed for you ASAP. =)
