Fried Computer: Update
General
Well I was able to get my computer running again, with a complete hard drive wipe and a clean re-install of Windows XP. It turns out that my wireless network adapter is fried, as well as my entire USB system.
So, I can connect to the internet using a direct network connection (annoying, but I can live with it). However, I cannot use any USB devices at all (such as my Bamboo tablet!).
LeonatoLynx suggests that I look into getting a PCI USB card so that I can use USB devices again. Maybe that'll get me up and running.

Leonato is right about using a PCI-USB card to get you going again. A quick and dirty work-around to a irreparable internal bus problem.
Actually, that seems like an elegant solution.
Take care!
Glad it was stuff that could be worked around instead of stuff that prevented you from using the whole computer.
(was that wireless card an add-in board or onboard?)
