I was at the dr office for some labs. I saw a Dad taking care of his trans son’s fears and I broke down crying in the lobby as we waited.
“I told you this place would be cool” “everyone is so nice!” “I’ll be there” “We’ll get mom to come around”
each layer of comfort just hit me like a missing piece in my soul
By some small chance I shared a space for my blood draw and when Dad entered he looked at me and said, “you’re making me cry too ya know.”
I pointed and asked “Dad?” he nodded and I said something like you’re amazing dude. He choked back something, opened his arms and said, “hug?”.
I accepted the invite and went somewhere I’d never been before.
That was, my best hug ever.
