Regarding My Departure from the Oiraon Species
3 months ago
General
I've had several people reach out asking why I left the Oiraon Species. I'm addressing this once publicly.
Over my time in the community, I've lost a significant amount of money to incomplete work, scams, and art I've been waiting over a year to receive.
A significant portion of these issues stem from the species owner themselves. I paid for a custom design through a three-way arrangement. While framed as a "donation for assistance," it was posted with the intent of offering art for money. That's a transaction, and an agreement was made. I paid for this almost 7 months ago (at the time of this post). The owner is now refusing to complete the work and refusing to refund it. This is highly unprofessional.
Additionally (separate issue), when I requested access to completed files so another artist could finish work that a third party had abandoned after 5+ months, the owner attempted to leverage this against me, offering the files only if I removed them from my personal blacklist, then immediately stating they still wouldn't complete the custom mentioned above. This is manipulative.
Beyond financial issues, I experienced repeated emotional manipulation and guilt-tripping from leadership and staff, the same behavior they had previously condemned when done by others. I can no longer participate in a community where leadership doesn't practice what they preach.
When broader issues were brought to staff, they were either inadequately handled or ignored entirely (some were handled, but with infrequent or lazy solutions). Multiple former staff members left for reasons they felt were serious enough to walk away from the species entirely. While I won't speak for them, their departures weren't coincidental, adding more red flags for me to leave.
This wasn't a single incident, this is a pattern. I'm prioritizing my financial security, mental health, and personal boundaries. I won't be discussing specific individuals or situations further, and I refuse to engage on anything involving the species. I've left and it's behind me. This is just a heads-up for those wondering where I am and why I left. I've had enough, and this is my final statement on the matter.
I want to acknowledge that I am by no means perfect, nor can I see everything I have personally done to those that I used to speak to. I cannot deny that I've caused my fair share of issues as well. To those I've offended or caused problems for, I genuinely apologize. I'm sorry for anything I've done that hurt or bothered you, and I'm working to improve upon those poor characteristics.
