Without your old email used to create your Discord account, you won't be able to verify the email change. They did so eons ago to stop folks from getting hacked with it, as it was remarkably easy to snag accounts like that back in the day.

Discord support (as ass as it is) might be able to help you. Just have to hold your head up and hope they both reply, AND can help restore the issue.

till then, shall just be using the fresh secondary account. the change for the email is the worst method for security when it's the email that gets compromised, it let them remove any 2 factor stuff from the account, even the phone number it would seem. and untill discord support stops being on vacation, i can't even contact them at all. the site simply wouldn't log in at all.

I would recommend keeping email accounts active in case of situations like this, that way you'll have an email to fall back on for emergencies, and can use the previous one to confirm any changes it may be needed for. I keep my information privately stored at home in case I forget stuff for this reason.
Additionally, in order to remove your 2FA and SMS authentication, they'd need to have first had access to your email and password, then your 2FA tokens or spoofed your phone number to get your SMS messages for that authentication requirement. Thereafter, then they'd break through to disable everything manually. Even potentially changed passwords and such.
Or you potentially had your Discord information leaked or your Discord tokens entirely yanked, which would allow them free access to your account with little work.

Either way, either your MS account was breached, or your Discord directly got hijacked. Just as long as you hadn't entered your information on sketchy sites or anything similar, or you downloaded something you shouldn't have, it'd be difficult to usually be plucked out of midair like that.

And, i do know all of that. It's why it's so baffling as to how they got into the account, only a single notification on email that anything had changed for the main account, and from there i learned that discord allows you to sadly remove most of the fail safes with just having the email, or discord support simply locked the whole thing down afer i force logged every session out and then logged back in with my own freshly created passkey. I know cybersecurity plenty well, and don't often use my main email for most things, that's what one of the unimportant email accounts is for. having recovery codes for the account simply was useless as well for microsoft, as i was told multiple times that there is nothing they could do. keeping two email accounts as secondary and tertiary failsafes should have offered me plenty of security for reclaiming the account, but Microsoft simply sucks in that regard.

It saddens me more to know that a good soul like you got hurt. :'(

While I hope you manage to get help from Discord support, I wouldn't hold my breath. In my experience their support staff are a complete joke.
