Happy New Year
First journal entry of the year. I've been busy getting 2026 underway; closing out the old, and setting up for the new.
Hopefully everyone's set their course and is on their way as well. What you do today affects your tomorrow.
Sitting besides the heater and thinking
I'm still enjoying the whole furry experience, but more as a watcher than a doer. I am going at my own pace.
Currently I'm on hiatus for meets until I hear from Punxsutawney Phil; atm we're hunkered down waiting to see which strand of the spaghetti model wins --- 1 inch of wet snow or a 3 to 5 inch dump of powder.
Social Media is My Lifeline
Despite being housebound, I can reach out and connect with people on Telegram posts, watch streamers do their things on Twitch and participate in voice chats in Discord and occasionally in the avatar on VRChat, but at my own time and pace. Technology!
AI or Not AI
While technology is wonderful, I'm at widdershins with some of it after seeing all the holiday music videos made with AI generated anthropomorphic art: Furry artists I know hate the AI slop, yet these videos are pretty and I enjoy them freely (with ads on YouTube). My muse is stirred after seeing all the critters that are awake and it makes me want to draw them; they might have been part of the reason I've had visions of furries dancing in my head recently. I had a conversation with a two-tail kitsune who was repairing my car in my dream this morning.
I love how the depicted creatures in these videos are more identifiable as upright ferals rather than fur covered humans; they take me back to Anatole and early Disney. Yet, I wonder how did they create all that human grade tech (books, lanterns, clothing and such). The same thing I've been pondering since my early days in the fandom -- especially those without opposable thumbs...
The Mother of Inventon
One author has sentient Griffons but evolved with a symbiotic specie of mammal (Hanz) -- lemur like and able to do the dexterous work the avians cannot.
And speaking of dexterous work, I am figuring out how to apply tail holes to my furry clothes so I don't have to keep draping my shirt over my tail and having it look like a dromedary under a tarp.
So I have my paws full with indoor things to do. Hopefully those in the winter season have similar pursuits to pass the time with.
