Of DNA Designs and Upgrade Kits: A Transformers Tale

Great title XD
What's crackin' my Autobros and Deceptibabes?
Brand spankin' new year, and loads of new Transformer toys a-comin'. That means plenty of opportunities to upgrade those toys should the need arises. Plenty of 3rd Party companies that can fulfill and scratch that itch to upgrade a figure, but I am of course talking about 'DNA Design.' Yes, lots of things happened since the last time I talked about DNA Design over a year ago. No, we still don't have an upgrade kit for the Kingdom Tracks/Road Rage molds, so hopefully there'll be a whole new mold for them for this rumored 'Studio Series '84' line. We DID however get Toyhax decals for the Legacy Animated Optimus Prime upgrade kit, bumping that from a solid five out of five to an AWESOME out of five. And since I just got the kit for SS TF:One Sentinel Prime, at the time of this journal's post, I figure it's a good time to talk about the other kits I got since the last year. Keep in mind, what I list here is all the kits I DO have. I'm not at all interested int he Masterpiece line, or their upgrade kits. So here we go:
DK-55: For Legacy Tigerhawk and Silverbolt. Mind you, both are very excellent figures, but did need a wee bit of oomph. And this kit delivers; providing extensions for Silverbolt's wings so he can pull off his signature wing-shot pose. The kit also has much-needed fillers for Tigerhawk's wings, and much better guns that ain't full of holes and gaps. And as a cheeky bonus, a nifty bird-like mask to cover the tiger's head. No doubt we'll have something similar for an upgrade kit for the newly released ATOP Razorclaw. And after getting him on a whim... yeah, I actually wanna get the DNA kit for him. This set gets a solid 5 out of 5 ^^
DK-56: For Legacy Animated Motormaster. It was only a matter of time till we got a similar kit that fits the Animated Optimus mold. It's only a matter of time till we get something for the ATOP Animated Nemesis Prime. But yeah, like DK-54 for Animated Optimus, this set gives this Animated Motormaster it's own unique flare that will truly make this Stunticon brute a real 'King of the Road'. Especially when you fabulize this via Toyhax. Not really quite a place where you can store the 'Menasor' mask, but I can let that slide. And if you really wanna invoke that G1 Menasor look color-wise, check out it's contemporary upgrade kit, DK-56A. I may have to get another Legacy Animated Motormaster to go with this other kit in the future. If the upcoming Toyhax decals come with something different for that Motormaster toy. Thought I'll probably get another regardless XD. But as it stands, both are awesome, and get a 5 out of 5. ^^
DK-57 M and G: For Legacy United Armada Megatron and Galvatron, but also for Legacy United Tidal Wave. Both Armada Megatron and Galvatron are great figures, but needed some work on their shoulder articulation. And these kits do just that. They're pretty easy to install. For DK-57M, it comes with reinforcement parts for big ol' Tidal Wave's legs. Just be careful when you unscrew some things; that's on my part. Both these sets come with different horns for Megs and Galvy, buuuuuut they kinda get in the way when you close the shoulder parts up during transformation, so I'm sticking with their old horns. So both sets get a 4.10 out of 5 for me ^^
DK-42C: For Legacy Chromia. Chromia shares the mold for Legacy Animated Prowl, so I knew we'd get something similar for Chromia... and with a little extra. The 'Light Armor' upgrade is already a nice touch, with the shield canopy part that really completes her bike mode, making her very Tron-esque. Nice. The side car for the 'Heavy Armor' look is a nice added bonus. So, this set gets a 5 out of 5 for me ^^
DK-61: For Legacy Vector Prime. Lemme go on record here in saying I do kinda get the hate this toy gets; hoping it was its own mold than sharing Legacy Jiaxus's mold. Me personally; Vector Prime suits this mold far better than Jiaxus, and this toy doesn't have a third of the spaceship mode hanging off his back like the original toy did. So I've got no beef with this toy, but if you do wanna beef up this toy, then this upgrade kit is just for you. The parts definitely fill in this grandpa; don't even get me started on the new wings and sword. Only downside, you have to remove the shoulder pads and foot pads that make him taller when transforming him. Honestly to me, it looks better without those shoulder pads. And there's a much better upgrade part for Vector's feet. So this set is a 4 out of 5 to me ^^
DK-62: For Studio Series TF:One Optimus Prime and Megatron. Despite being deluxe figures, these two toys do have charm to me. And this kit ups their charm a wee bit more. This kit comes with better forearms for Optimus that you can actually fold in his hands, and a far better axe accessory. This Megatron toy looks so much better with the new Fusion Cannon that comes with this kit. So as this kit stands, a 5 out of 5 for me ^^
DK-70: For Studio Series 86 Scrapper and Bonecrusher. Folks have derided Bonecrusher as being the weakest toys for these SS86 Constructicons. I'm not one of those guys, I wished he had better arms. This set gives us that; the rest of the stuff for him... just ain't necessary, those feet-extenders, and the parts that make you detach his bucket for his chest all to give him a waist swivel. I dunno, it just seems more trouble than it's worth. We get fillers for Scrapper, but the ones for his wrists don't stay in. And of course, this kit comes with trumpets so you can reenact that friggin' scene in the '86 movie for Starscream's coronation. I am aware of the kit for Hook and Long Haul; but that set seems it's aos more trouble than it's worth, so I won't be picking that up. I am gonna pick up the kit for Scavenger and Mixmaster. The set for Devastator himself... nah. But as it stands for this kit... 3.5 to 4 out of 5.
Dk-64: For Studio Series TF:One Sentinel Prime. BOO! HISS! Comes with extensions to make the wings he had in the movie, as well as his signature swords. Seriously, Hasbro, why didn't the toy come with his swords?! And an unexpected bonus that comes with this set is fillers for SS TF:One B-127. ^^ And if you wanna display your SS TF:One egs rippin' Sentinel n half, this kit comes with a special piece just for that. ^^ For such a douchebag, Sentinel looks pretty dang good with the upgrades. Only reason why I can't give this a solid 5 out of 5, is cuz Sentinel is a douchebag! XD So the score won't be listed... but I do recommend this kit ^^
That's all I got so far. And plenty more kits well on the way. I'm really looking forward to the kits for SS AOE Optimus; and cuz of that, I bought two of the same toy to upgrade the normal look, and his 'knighted' look. Definitely getting the kit for SS'86 Megatron, and yes, I am well aware of one the kits to make a handle to make his 'gun mode'. Jesus, these fanboys really need to get over that. So if you're a Transformer toy collector and dabble in DNA Design, and have gotten any of these kits, lemme know what you think of 'em in the comments below.
Thanks for your time. ^^

Yea, Vector's worth getting in my opinion ^^
