going into 2026

General
So what’s the plan for 2026; well my plans are pretty loose, but here’s what I’m thinking of/ planning…
So January eleventh of 2016 I posted a drawing the journey Begins to DeviantArt, which I’ve tended to consider the start of me taking drawing ‘seriously’ (I’m not entirely sure what I mean by that though) and while I had been drawing in some capacity for as long as I can remember (heck I had been using this DeviantArt account for ~6.5 years, though only having put of 7 drawings in that time, and I had a, short lived, DeviantArt account before this one as well as being largely inactive on a seemingly long dead art forum) that drawing was meant to be the start of something (and at least as far as frequency of my drawing it certainly was, if nothing else) and we are 10 years from that so it seems worth doing something special, and since there are some older drawings that I like but also feel like could have been done better why not revisit those (or some older drawings in general) for a second take on them. I already have a moderate number in mind but if there is any old drawings of mine you want to see me take another stab at feel free to mention them.
Also with the whole 10/16 (I am far too amused by the fact 10, in base 10, and 10, in base 16, anniversaries have lined up like this) anniversary thing look forward to/dread some kind of wistful and/or looking back thing because I may or may not be having a small mid life crisis
So yeah I have 2 or 3 new characters that I’ve been mulling over for a while but when thinking of how to introduce them, specifically formatting of reference sheets, I realized the reference sheets for my existing characters are ~4-6 years old. So having come up with a fun and detailed new reference sheet format figured I should do some update reference sheets for my existing characters as well as finally introduce the new characters
So for monthly polls, on most months ive been alternating between OC polls and Fanart Polls. That said I am going to change up the methods on OC polls: given that not many people submitted their OCs and you lot kept voting for my characters over any of the submitted OCs (which i, and especially my ego very much enjoy) , so the OC polls are just going to be my characters going forward. That said given item B probably just going to be doing fanart polls every month for the immediate foreseeable future
So that’s all the stuff I plan and intend to do, but I have two things I’ve been thinking over that feel worth bringing up even if I’m not entirely certain regarding actually doing them this year
(as a refresher since the comic was short lived and started before I was even at 100 Watchers on DeviantArt so while I know there are people in my audience waiting for it not sure if everyone is familiar with this: this is a comic adapting this short story: King Size Caren which it self is a spin on the classic Animated short King Size Canary but with increasingly curvy women replacing the increasingly… whatever that body shape in the short is called… talking animals.)
So I actually had been thinking of doing some preproduction work on this in 2025 with the intention of restarting it in 2026. That ended up not happening in any real sense, but fore various reasons I’ve been rethinking a lot about the why/how/what of it. Not in a I might not do it sense but more what form will it take and to what end I am doing it (as in what’s the focus and how does that steer the project). Honestly I’m probably going to do a separate post kind of thinking ‘outloud’ on where my thoughts are at regarding that, but it feels worth mentioning here that it is still coming and hopefully sooner than later but I’m not entirely sure
So i‘ve mentioned the game Azure Dreams off handedly a few times as a nostalgic bit of gaming that kind of lives rent free in my brain (to catch everyone up it’s a mystery dungeon like rougelite dungeon crawler with monster collecting elements along side some light visual novel/dating sim as well as town building elements for the PSX, as well as dungeon crawler only version for GBC). So anyway I had a sort of unhinged though regarding Pokemon’s dominance among Anthro/Gijinka videogame monsters (which to be fair its dominance over monster collecting games largely being unchallenged with the only real exceptions being SMT and Digimon which have a lot of Anthro or straight up humanoid designs kind makes that inevitable) and that clearly a change needs to be challenged by some rando on the internet with no clout by way of an obscure, nearly 30 year old, game. And on several levels this could be a fun idea and challenge; but on as many if not more levels could be a nightmare (just glance of some of the monster designs like Pulunpa, Cyclone, Volcano, or Zu). Not to mention while its monster list is less daunting than even Gen 1 of pokemon would be its still enough for a larger project I’m not sure I want to commit to… but I still kind of want to do it. i doubt it will be much of a success in posting it given the obsucirty of the source material, I’m not sure if the entertainment value will be worth the amount of work on a personal level if I commit to it in full, but if I don’t commit in full what is worth doing for a partial selection?
1) Redraws

A) King size Karen comic
